Another day in the dragon world. Ember stood in the center of the arena in her human-dragon form, white-gold scales gleaming along her arms and the elegant line of her spine. Wings of translucent fire folded behind her. Across from her the system materialized the challenger.

Rare Neufar Dragon : Nature / Water dual element. Tall, serpentine, covered in living moss and flowing blue-green scales. Vines coiled around its limbs. Water dripped constantly from its jaws. Its eyes were the flat green of deep forest pools. That is to say the Domain had decided the next step would not be gentle. She got ready to smash. This dragon was nothing to her.

The moment the barrier sealed, the Neufar attacked.Full novel: Dragon Kaiser: Dragons Obey Me Against the Martial Spirit. — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Vines exploded from the ground, thick as tree trunks, trying to crush Ember in a living cage. At the same time a high-pressure jet of water screamed toward her chest. Ember did not dodge. She stepped into the attack. In that way the Dao of Fire she had already mastered refused to retreat from anything that entered its range.

White-gold flame erupted from every scale. The vines blackened and screamed as they burned. The water jet hit her full-force and instantly turned to superheated steam that exploded outward, scalding the Neufar’s own face. Ember closed the distance in a single beat of her wings. The wind blew harder than a volcano erupting.

She drove a clawed hand straight into the softer tissue beneath the Neufar’s jaw and ripped upward. Cartilage and scale tore free in a spray of green-blue blood. The Neufar shrieked and slammed her with a tail thick as a pillar. Ember took the hit across the ribs, felt something crack, and answered by driving both knees into the creature’s chest. Bone gave way with a wet, heavy crunch. What is more the sound of that crunch felt like the first real payment for every laugh Daniel had thrown at him and every cold word in the letter from Director Nikla.

The Neufar tried to drown her next, water flooding the arena floor, rising in a violent spiral. Ember simply opened her mouth and exhaled the Dao of Fire. The water did not boil. It ceased to be water. It became pure transformation, flashing into white steam and then into nothing. The Neufar staggered, half its body already blackened and peeling.

Ember finished it without mercy. There was something different in her eyes. It was like something had changed for the best. She was gore enough to scare 5000 children.

She seized the dragon’s head with both hands, forced its jaws open, and poured true ultimate flame directly down its throat. The fire did not simply burn. It rewrote. Scales split. Internal organs ruptured and cooked in the same instant. The Neufar’s body convulsed once, twice, then collapsed into a smoking, half-molten heap. The smell of burned moss, boiled blood, and charred meat filled the arena. After all the empty altar had given him nothing. This was the Domain answering with something far more honest.

Victory.

Reward: 2,000,000 Gold.

Nicolas collected the gold without expression. Ember walked back to him, blood still steaming on her claws, and leaned her forehead against his for a moment.

He returned to the farms. Another long stretch of Domain time passed while he expanded the fields, purchased higher-grade fertilizers, growth accelerators, and specialized flame-and-earth feed from the store. When the vaults were full again he fed Ember until she reached Level 20. Her Mythic presence deepened. The white-gold fire under her skin burned cleaner and colder. That is to say every unit of food and every hour of Domain time was being converted into something the academy could never measure.

That night Domain night Ember found him sitting beneath the Summoning Tree. She straddled his lap without asking, cupped his face with warm, clawed hands, and kissed him. The kiss tasted of heat and certainty. When she finally pulled back she rested her head against his shoulder.

Victoria and Lola joined them. Nicolas opened his arms. The three dragonesses curled around himEmber against his chest, Victoria solid and cool at his back, Lola draped across his legs. He held all three. For a long time no one spoke. The Domain was quiet except for the soft sound of their breathing. In that way the hollow space left by the empty altar continued to fill with something that no pure spirit of Luminas had ever offered him.

Then the real work began.

Six years of Domain time.

Nicolas trained them without mercy and without rest. He drilled combat forms, elemental refinement, endurance under pressure, and the deeper Laws. The three habitats filled with the sound of impact, flame, and grinding stone. When the six years ended he sat Victoria and Lola down beneath the Summoning Tree the same way he had once sat with Ember.

He taught them the Dao of Prime Earth.

“Earth receives,” he said. “Rain falls on it. Seeds enter it. Bodies return to it. Civilizations are built upon it. To receive is not to be passive. It is to possess the capacity to contain. The strongest foundation does not constantly announce its strength. Earth bears. Mountains remain while generations disappear. Empires rise and fall. Rivers change course. Forests grow and die. Earth remains beneath them. Endurance is the ability to remain yourself while everything around you changes. Earth transforms slowly. Fire transforms in moments. Earth transforms through time. Rock becomes soil. Soil becomes life. Life becomes decay. Decay becomes soil again. Fire says, ‘Become something else now.’ Earth says, ‘Become it completely.’ Earth gives form to the formless. A seed contains a potential tree, but Earth gives that potential somewhere to become actual. Ideas require bodies. Civilizations require institutions. Virtues require habits. Spirit requires embodiment. Prime Earth is potential becoming structure, structure becoming embodiment, embodiment becoming permanence. Its highest principle is not merely defense. It is actualization. Earth does not reject the weight placed upon it. A mountain does not complain that the sky is heavy. A valley does not resent the rain. Earth accepts weight and converts it into structure. What crushes the unprepared can become strength for the properly rooted. Pressure produces density, stability, resilience, structure, and depth. The mountain is not strong because it avoids pressure. It became a mountain through pressure.”

Victoria’s eyes had gone deep and still. Lola listened with her dual nature fully open. What is more the words themselves began to sink into the Domain the same way the Potentializer had once sunk into their scales.

Nicolas continued, the teaching accumulating the way every true foundation accumulates.

“The immature Earth says, ‘Nothing can move me.’ The mature Earth says, ‘I can remain rooted while moving when movement is necessary.’ The highest Earth says, ‘I am the ground from which movement becomes possible.’ Absolute rigidity is not Earth. A completely rigid structure eventually breaks. Earth has plasticity. It can absorb impact. It can deform. It can regenerate. It can bury things. It can give birth to things. The supreme Earth is not immovable. It is unshakably grounded without being incapable of adaptation. You do not conquer the Earth. You become grounded enough that reality can act through you without displacing you. Your body becomes an anchor. Your mind becomes a foundation. Your character becomes a mountain. Your actions become roots. Your accumulated suffering becomes soil. Your potential becomes something embodied. Everything returns to Earth. The body returns. The civilization returns. The mountain eventually returns. Even the greatest monument becomes dust. That is not failure. It is the cycle: Earth to life to form to decay to Earth. Therefore Prime Earth teaches what Fire cannot teach alone—transformation has a place to return to.”

He finished with the single line that bound it all.

“Become the ground that suffering cannot uproot, the soil from which potential can become form, and the foundation upon which transformation can stand.”

Victoria’s body began to glow with deep, continental light. Stone and soil and the weight of ages rose around her.

Victoria has advanced to Mythic Rank.

Class: Mythic Dragon

Title: Dragoness of Prime Earth

Lola’s dual nature flared next that the fire and the earth braided into something denser and older than either alone.

Lola has advanced to Heroic Rank.

Class: Heroic Dragon

Title: Dragoness of Volcanic Foundation

Both of them transformed.

Victoria stood in human-dragon form: tall, powerful, skin the rich brown of fertile earth veined with living stone, hair the dark green-black of deep forest soil, eyes the steady color of ancient mountains. Small horns of polished granite crowned her head. Wings of layered stone and moss folded at her back. This took him aback like a mortal who had seen a goddess.

Lola’s form was sharper and more dangerouscharcoal skin shot through with glowing cracks of magma, hair a river of black and molten red, eyes that held both flame and bedrock. Her horns were jagged volcanic glass. Wings of cooling lava and ash spread wide before folding. Well, my little Nicolas had seen better tits, but tits were on fire: Quite literally.

The moment their transformations completed, the change slammed into Nicolas.

His bloodline evolved again. Bones thickened and lengthened further. Muscle densified until every movement carried the quiet certainty of tectonic force. His golden skin took on a deeper, almost metallic luster. The sunset aura around him now carried the weight of mountains beneath the heat of true fire. His presence settled into the Domain like a new foundation had been poured. That is to say the mixed blood the academy had called a waste was being rewritten from the inside out once more.

Ember watched from the side, smiling with quiet pride. Victoria stepped forward first and rested her forehead against Nicolas’s. Lola followed, pressing close. The three dragonessesMythic Fire, Mythic Earth, Heroic Volcanic Foundationstood with him as the Domain itself seemed to recognize the shift.

Six years of training.

A Rare Neufar crushed into ruin.

Two million gold.

Three bonded dragonesses now standing in human form.

And Nicolas’s bloodline had climbed once more.

Outside, in the real world, the same night still held.

Inside the Dragon Emperor Domain, the ground had finished moving and would not move again unless he commanded it.

After all the empty altar had only been the beginning.

Nicolas has learned and fought.
