The next morning, our cottage felt much livelier than before.
We enjoyed breakfast together at our simple wooden dining table.
The little girl, now wearing one of Charlotte’s oversized T shirts, sat quietly while happily chewing on her bread.
Once breakfast was over, everyone went about their morning activities around the yard.
Beside the cottage, Charlotte returned to tending her vegetable garden.
Interestingly, the little girl refused to simply sit around.
With her tiny feet hopping happily across the ground, she joined Charlotte in watering the plants with a small wooden bucket.
Every time one of the vegetable sprouts rapidly grew under Charlotte’s nature magic, the little girl would cheer in amazement, her eyes sparkling with wonder. Find the original chapter at g.com.
By noon, the little girl changed course and came to keep me company in the front yard.
I was continuing my manual project of building a protective wooden fence around our cottage.
Since I had deliberately made the fence fairly large and sturdy, there were still several sections left to finish.
The little girl sat atop a piece of tree trunk, resting her chin on both tiny hands as she watched me work.
Seeing her sitting there with nothing to do, looking increasingly bored, I smiled faintly.
I picked up a leftover piece of wood and used my vampire claws to cut and carve it at incredible speed.
Within a few seconds, a cute little wooden fox doll had taken shape in my hands.
“Here. It’s a toy for you,” I said, gently tossing the wooden doll toward her.
She caught it immediately.
Her round eyes lit up with pure joy.
Watching her innocent laughter, all the exhaustion I had accumulated as a makeshift laborer in this new world simply vanished.
Several days passed incredibly quickly in the middle of the Forbidden Forest.
The little girl’s presence had truly brought a new warmth and countless bursts of laughter into our minimalist cottage.
Sometimes she would follow Charlotte around the kitchen while she cooked.
Other times, her fox tail would wag excitedly whenever I gave her freshly grilled fish from the river.
Every corner of our home now seemed filled with a gentle warmth that had never been there before.
To be continued.
