The tangle of battle had ended, and Xia Mengchan was as docile as a little kitten.
“Accompany me tonight to meet someone,” Xia Mengchan said, looking slightly weary.
“Okay.”
Qin Hao nodded without a moment’s hesitation.
“That person is very powerful.”
After a pause, Xia Mengchan still reminded Qin Hao.
If it weren’t for feeling such immense pressure, why would she resort to such extreme measures to seek a powerful protector?
Qin Hao was recommended to her by one of her sisters, but Xia Mengchan didn’t know much about him.
Though she felt safe with Qin Hao, she ultimately lacked a bit of confidence.
“Your man is even more formidable,” Qin Hao said with a slight smile.
Hearing Qin Hao’s words, Xia Mengchan’s mind was put at ease, his words casting a comforting spell that relaxed her completely.
Night fell, and Qin Hao left the villa together with Xia Mengchan.
He was dressed very casually, in leisure wear.
Although brand-named, it didn’t quite match Xia Mengchan’s level of wealth.
Yet Qin Hao didn’t care at all; he didn’t rely on clothes to earn respect from others.
“Where are we going?”
No sooner had they stepped out of the room than they were stopped by Emperor Ye, who looked at Xia Mengchan with interest.
This woman actually managed to enthrall the Mad Doctor.
In others’ eyes, Xia Mengchan was the most beautiful woman of Baihai City, and also the top female tycoon, famous throughout Xuan Country.
However, to Emperor Ye, she wasn’t really anything special; at least, he thought Xia Mengchan was reaching above her station in being with Qin Hao.
Perhaps only the Black and White Peonies on the Assassin’s list, or the famous fairies and heroines from the Hundred Beauties, might be worthy of Qin Hao.
But even then, it would be considered reaching high.
Xia Mengchan was somewhat puzzled; she felt a dangerous aura emanating from Emperor Ye.
He didn’t seem like a human, but more like a beast ready to choose its prey.
This made Xia Mengchan unconsciously take a step back, her expression wary.
“We’re going to a banquet.
Want to join us for some fun?” Qin Hao asked.
“Is there good food?” Emperor Ye’s eyes lit up slightly.
“An endless supply of delicious food,” Xia Mengchan answered.
She realized then that he was probably a friend of Qin Hao, so she no longer felt afraid and spoke with ease.
Emperor Ye was slightly surprised.
He had intentionally let a hint of killing intent slip, targeting Xia Mengchan.
If it had been an ordinary person, they wouldn’t necessarily have collapsed on the spot, but they certainly wouldn’t dare to speak.
Yet, Xia Mengchan was completely unaffected, speaking so naturally.
“To be this guy’s woman, she indeed is no ordinary person,” Emperor Ye remarked.
“Thanks for the compliment,” Xia Mengchan smiled.
She was also aware that Emperor Ye was most likely not just anybody; the pressure he exerted was more terrifying than some of the older folks she knew.
Realizing this, Xia Mengchan glanced at Qin Hao.
Just what kind of person was he, whose friends were so extraordinary, and who himself was so transcendent?
“Get in the car.”
Qin Hao personally retrieved Xia Mengchan’s car, then took the driver’s seat, instructing them both to get in.
“Just a meal?” Emperor Ye asked curiously, feeling that Qin Hao wouldn’t be so mundane.
Qin Hao shook his head, smiling as he said, “Someone is looking for trouble with my woman.
I’m going to sort out the problem.”
Emperor Ye couldn’t help but roll his eyes, half laughing and half crying, he said irritably, “Isn’t this bullying?”
In his view, Qin Hao was clearly bullying others.
When people from the Martial Arts world collided with those from the secular world, the outcome was predictable.
“How about this, don’t take action later, I’ll handle it for you, so that others won’t say you bullied ordinary people if word gets out,” Emperor Ye sighed.
“You?” Qin Hao was a bit skeptical.
Knowing that Qin Hao didn’t trust him, Emperor Ye said irritably, “Don’t underestimate me, my abilities are much stronger than you imagine.”
“Hopefully.”
Qin Hao wasn’t holding out hope on this point.
Emperor Ye’s face darkened somewhat.
This guy didn’t believe in his abilities at all.
He was Emperor Ye, a figure who most Assassins looked up to, ranked seventh on the Assassins’ list, a godlike existence in the Assassin’s world.
“Hmph, you’ll start seeing me in a new light,” Emperor Ye said like a child throwing a tantrum.
Qin Hao gave a faint smile, he had said that on purpose.
Any of the top ten Assassins on the Assassins’ list were no simple characters; Emperor Ye surely had the capability to handle many things.
“By the way, why did you come looking for me?
Don’t tell me it was really to kill me.
Since the third time you were defeated by me, I’ve felt that you lost your killing intent towards me,” Qin Hao suddenly asked.
Emperor Ye was a bit surprised.
He glanced at Xia Mengchan, noting that Qin Hao was speaking without excluding Xia Mengchan.
Letting an ordinary person know about their world didn’t seem appropriate.
Xia Mengchan shuddered, this man had actually come to kill Qin Hao.
However, seeing Qin Hao’s unconcerned demeanor, she breathed a sigh of relief.
Things were probably not as she imagined.
She sat there, listening quietly to their conversation, knowing that Qin Hao didn’t exclude her meaning he wanted her to know his identity, which was also a sign of his trust in her.
“I want out, but I can’t find peace.
So, I thought of hanging around with you, with your strength, you should be able to keep me safe,” Emperor Ye revealed his purpose, causing Qin Hao to hit the brakes hard.
He turned his head and stared at Emperor Ye, completely taken aback by his plan.
“No way, just get lost immediately.
I don’t want to deal with these troubles,” Qin Hao said unceremoniously.
Emperor Ye shrugged his shoulders, flashing a rascal-like smile, “Useless, I’ve already declared to the Assassin’s world that from now on, I’m your underling.
Even if I leave now, they’ll still come to bother you.”
“I want to kill you,” Qin Hao gritted his teeth.
Emperor Ye closed his eyes, looking utterly sure of himself.
“Damn,”
Qin Hao was freaking out, knowing that having this guy around would bring him endless trouble.
“Anyway, with your strength, as long as the Azure Dragon doesn’t show up, there’s no need to fear them,” Emperor Ye opened his eyes, smiling as he realized Qin Hao had agreed.
“What if the Azure Dragon does show up?” Qin Hao retorted.
“Wait to die,”
It took a while for Emperor Ye to spit out three words.
Xia Mengchan looked at Qin Hao with nervous and concerned eyes.
“You’re overestimating the Azure Dragon.
He doesn’t have the power to kill me,” Qin Hao sneered.
Emperor Ye trembled, he looked at Qin Hao deeply and then broke into a big smile, saying, “I think this is the best decision I’ve made in my life.”
“Haha.”
Qin Hao gave a cold laugh.
Emperor Ye suddenly felt a chill run down his spine, wondering if he had made a mistake, as an ominous feeling arose.
