Thanks!
Minoru Kagenou and Sora Kagenou were both university students, already over eighteen.
Minoru Kagenou was deeply dissatisfied with his own strength.
He kept thinking about how to get stronger.
Sora Kagenou stood silently beside him.
Because of this, Minoru Kagenou started losing his mind.
Except when he was in class, he did nothing but repeat the word “magic” over and over.
Three nights later, desperate to gain magic power, Minoru Kagenou began smashing his head against a rock.
“Magic!
I need magic!”
That was when a flash of light appeared in the distance.
“That’s magic!
That’s magic!”
Sora Kagenou beside him bolted — ran even faster than Minoru Kagenou.
This was a race against time.
A moment’s delay and they’d miss the truck to the other world.
“Magic!
Magic!
I’m coming!” Minoru Kagenou screamed like a madman.
They burst through the bushes and came face to face with a massive truck.
Sora Kagenou got a head start, but Minoru Kagenou was faster from all his training, so the two ran side by side.
Sora Kagenou launched himself into the air and slammed his head into the truck with everything he had.
A full-on rocket headbutt.
Like he was terrified he wouldn’t die.
At the same time, he reached out and grabbed Minoru Kagenou’s arm, no way were they getting sent to different worlds.
A flash of white light.
…
…
Sora Kagenou felt like he’d been asleep for ages.
He woke from the darkness.
He forced his eyes open.
Right next to him was another baby who looked exactly like him.
He looked up at the half-bald middle-aged man beside them.
“Great!
The transmigration worked!”
Minoru Kagenou and Sora Kagenou locked eyes.
They both knew exactly who the other was.
“Claire’s always wanted a little brother, hasn’t she?
Now she’s got two!
She’ll be over the moon!”
“Why aren’t these two crying?” the young woman asked, puzzled.
Hearing that, Minoru Kagenou and Sora Kagenou both burst into loud wails.
Just then, Claire walked in.
“Are these my little brothers?
Yes!
I have little brothers!”
…
…
Time flew.
Before they knew it, years had passed and both were eighteen.
Cid Kagenou was Minoru Kagenou’s name now.
And Sora Kagenou’s name was Shino Kagenou.
Since they were twins, their names were pretty similar.
Both of them had ridiculously powerful magic.
Cid was the older brother.
Shino was the younger.
During the day, they trained their swordsmanship.
One slashed, the other slashed.
To anyone watching, it looked like two amateurs flailing at each other.
But in reality, every time they swung, countless afterimages appeared, too fast for anyone nearby to even see.
They both held back on purpose, keeping things quiet.
Moving at that speed while holding back?
That took insane control.
Just then, Claire walked over.
“You two train hard, but you’re still way too weak!”
“Both of you, come at me together!”
She held a wooden sword and stared them down.
Cid and Shino traded a glance.
They charged from left and right.
Claire swung at Cid.
Her sword hit his — he went flying.
She spun and swung at Shino.
But Shino slammed on the brakes.
In the split second her swing hit nothing, he brought his sword down.
Claire snapped her blade back with insane speed and smacked Shino’s sword away, sending him flying too.
The truth was, by the time they got close to Claire, they’d already exchanged three blows.
Claire had no idea.
“Big sis is amazing!” Cid yelled, scrambling up.
“Yeah!
Big sis is incredible!” Shino echoed.
Claire felt something was off, like something had passed in front of her multiple times, but she hadn’t seen a thing.
She sparred with her little brothers for a while longer.
“These two kids haven’t improved at all!”
At night, Cid turned into the dashing Bandit Killer and went out slaughtering bandits.
Shino wanted to go looking for bandits too, but his luck was terrible, he could never find any.
If he went with Cid, they’d have to split the spoils.
Cid liked art pieces.
Shino couldn’t care less about those, and he had no use for money either.
The Kagenou territory was on the edge of the kingdom.
There was nothing worth buying anyway.
So Shino just slacked off and let Cid have his fun.
But every day, he asked Cid if he’d found anything special, no way was he missing Alpha.
Night fell.
Shino coated himself in magic, using slime to bulk up his body into an adult’s frame.
He put on a black mask.
He went alone to a forest clearing.
Before long, Claire walked over.
“Master!”
Since he couldn’t find bandits, Shino had started acting as a teacher to his sister Claire.
On a pitch-black, windy night, he straight-up kidnapped her and gave her a thorough beating.
Told her she had great talent and he wanted her as his disciple.
Claire, of course, refused this mysterious stranger.
Shino didn’t give up.
He dragged her out every night to train.
Over time, Claire realized he wasn’t a bad guy and started calling him Master.
Claire was a good sister.
Shino genuinely liked her, as family, of course.
Making her stronger was a good thing.
“No physical training today.
We’re doing a real fight — let’s see how much you’ve improved this month!”
“Yes, Master!”
“Here I come, Master!”
Claire gathered magic throughout her body and shot toward Shino at full speed.
Right as she got close, she suddenly pulled back.
Shino’s wooden sword cut through empty air.
“Nice feint!”
Anticipate the opponent’s attack, interrupt your own move, then strike in the gap.
That was something Claire had learned from Shino during the day.
Taking advantage of Shino’s sword hitting nothing, Claire circled behind him and swung her magic-infused blade at his back.
Shino spun his sword without even looking and blocked the attack behind him.
“Your attack intent is way too obvious!
You’re not hiding your killing intent at all!”
“A surprise attack should be hidden!”
Shino turned and swung at Claire.
She raised her sword to block.
But the attack never came.
Claire suddenly felt something pressed against her neck.
She looked down, it was Shino’s wooden sword.
He’d somehow gotten behind her without her noticing.
“I lose.”
“You’ve improved a lot compared to last month.
But you’re still too weak!”
“Next month, we’re training your magic control.”
…
Every night, Claire was trained to exhaustion by Shino.
When she got home, she saw Shino.
“Big sis, you worked hard!
Here, have some water.”
He handed her a cup.
“Thanks.”
She drank it.
“Big sis must be tired.
Let me massage your shoulders.”
“Then I’ll leave it to you, Shino.”
Shino worked on her shoulders.
Claire could clearly feel all the fatigue from training melt away.
