“Get off me, you’re so heavy~”

Zhou Wanning couldn’t figure it out—he had been squatting just fine a moment ago, so how did he end up on top of her in an instant? She had just been thinking that this man wasn’t so bad in some ways after all.

Through her haze, catching the glimmer of tears at the corners of Zhou Wanning’s eyes, Li Zhanye rolled over and pulled her onto his chest instead. He figured Zhou Wanning had always been delicate and fragile—he’d better not crush her to death.Full novel: Empress Transmigrates to the 1980s: The Ruthless Boss Becomes Addicted to Pampering Her — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“You’ve been seducing me all day long, and now that I’m here to pamper you, you don’t look too willing about it?”

Hearing Li Zhanye say this, Zhou Wanning froze completely. All day—an entire day—she had done nothing, yet he kept insisting she was throwing herself at him. “Are you some kind of dog?”

Why couldn’t he do a single decent thing?

“I’m a tiger, and I specialize in eating little rabbit spirits who go around seducing people.”

Li Zhanye said this as he moved to kiss Zhou Wanning, but she dodged him.

She kicked her foot against his chest, pushing herself slightly away from him: “No marriage, no deal.”

The arrow was already on the string—how could he be expected not to loose it?

Li Zhanye roughly pulled her back into his embrace: “I’ll file the report tomorrow!”

“No marriage, no deal!”

Zhou Wanning held her ground, pounding desperately against Li Zhanye’s chest. Seeing that he wouldn’t let go no matter what, her eyes reddened with urgency.

Seeing her like this, Li Zhanye finally released her.

But the moment she relaxed, he gave her no time to react and pressed his lips directly to hers. “I won’t do anything else—just collecting a little interest. You can’t deny me even a sip of soup, right? I did take care of you for a good long while after all.”

Zhou Wanning rifled through the original owner’s memories—in this era, boyfriends and girlfriends kissing… was acceptable.

She wasn’t a stingy person anyway; she was going to marry him regardless. Zhou Wanning closed her eyes and wrapped her arms around Li Zhanye’s neck, letting him pry open her mouth and take whatever he wanted.

Damn…

Faced with Zhou Wanning’s obedient demeanor, Li Zhanye’s eyes turned bloodshot, and his kisses grew fiercer. It could hardly even be called a kiss—it was more like straight-up biting, like a dog marking its territory.

Just as Zhou Wanning was about to pass out, Li Zhanye finally let her go.

“You just wait. Once the marriage report comes through, I’ll have you unable to get out of bed for three days straight!”

Zhou Wanning didn’t really care. It wasn’t happening today anyway—she’d deal with that when the day came. After a long day of exhaustion, and with her foot no longer hurting, Zhou Wanning quickly drifted off to sleep.

Li Zhanye didn’t return to the west room. Instead, he went straight to the regimental command post.

It was past nine in the evening, and only the switchboard operator remained in the command post, keeping watch over the phone in case of an emergency requiring troop mobilization.

Seeing Li Zhanye arrive, he was a bit confused. Their Regimental Commander Li usually stayed home with his younger brother at this hour—this was the first time he’d come here so late.

He grew nervous: “Regiment Commander, has something happened?”

Li Zhanye waved his hand. “I need to make a call to Division Commander Gao.”

The operator understood and turned to leave the room, closing the door behind him.

Northwest Military Region

Division Commander Gao thought something urgent had come up. The moment he heard it was Li Zhanye on the line, he crawled straight out of bed and rushed back to his office to return the call.

The moment the call connected, he heard Li Zhanye’s voice on the other end: “I want to get married. Now. Immediately. Right this instant!”

“You’ve lost your mind? Do you know what time it is right now?”

Li Zhanye glanced at his watch. “9:21 PM. I’m not crazy. I’m certain I want to marry Zhou Wanning. She’s the one.”

Division Commander Gao grew anxious at this. He knew all about Zhou Wanning and Li Zhanye’s situation—the marriage application that Li Zhanye’s stepmother had secretly submitted for the two of them was still sitting in his hands, withheld.

“You know her background! You’re at a critical point for promotion right now. Do you have any idea what the consequences of marrying her will be? She’ll have an impact on your future. Don’t you dare screw around on this matter!”

Li Zhanye idly rubbed the lighter in his hand, its flame flickering on and off in the dark command room. His expression remained playful, as if nothing in the world could capture his attention.

“Getting promoted at such a young age isn’t necessarily a good thing. Youth requires settling and accumulating. Only when the foundation is solid can one climb steadily. Her appearance is a reminder to me—not to move too fast and neglect the basics.”

“Stop feeding me that bullshit, you little brat. I’m warning you—don’t let yourself be fooled by a pretty face. Think it over carefully! As for that marriage application, I’m not approving it!”

Smack!

With that, the line went dead.

He called back—no answer. He called again—still nothing.

Li Zhanye had no choice but to head back for now. This matter would need to be handled with more careful planning. Thinking of Zhou Wanning’s soft, supple body, he ground his teeth in frustration. Fine, he’d let her off the hook for now.

When Zhou Wanning woke up, Li Zhanye was already washing up in the courtyard.

She found herself struggling with her bra. Taking it off hadn’t been a problem, but putting it back on—she just couldn’t manage to fasten the hooks.

She thought it over and decided to call Li Zhanye. After all, he was going to marry her eventually anyway. Exercising her wifely rights a little early was no problem at all.

“Li Zhanye, come here~”

Zhou Wanning was born in the Jiangnan region, and her speech carried that soft, lilting southern accent. Every word she spoke seemed to have a little hook on it, tugging at one’s heart.

He swallowed hard and turned his face slightly away. “If you keep being this coquettish, I won’t wait any longer—I’ll just take you right here and now.”

Zhou Wanning shot him a glare. She wasn’t doing anything of the sort. This dog—he was just falsely accusing her.

Li Zhanye’s whole body tensed. How was she escalating things?

She was taking advantage of the fact that they weren’t married yet, that he wouldn’t touch her, to throw him those come-hither looks, was she? He’d go rush it right now—he had to get that marriage application approved today!

“What did you call me over for?”

Before he could finish his sentence, the red silk from yesterday was already draped over his eyes. Li Zhanye instinctively bent down. “What now? You little pampered thing, are your feet still hurting?”

Zhou Wanning rolled her eyes at him. This man simply couldn’t speak properly, but at least he knew how to do things right. Otherwise, she truly couldn’t have tolerated him for even a second.

She handed her bra to Li Zhanye, then naturally lifted her top and turned her back to him. “I can’t fasten it. You do it for me.”

Boom!

At the sight of those two mounds of white spilling out, Li Zhanye’s head exploded.

Zhou Wanning urged him, “Hurry up.”

But when she turned around, she saw that he had a nosebleed: “Why are you bleeding from your nose? …Mmph~”

Before she could finish, her mouth was caught by Li Zhanye’s. “How are you so good at seducing me? You tease me but won’t let me have you—are you trying to drive me to death with frustration?”

Zhou Wanning felt a sudden tightness at her chest. Looking down, she saw both of Li Zhanye’s large hands covering her there.

Her face flushed bright red in an instant. In both of her lives, she had never been so intimate with anyone before. She flailed her hands, slapping at Li Zhanye’s hand, and scolded him coquettishly, “Where are your hands touching? Take them off me!”
