Luo Yunmian had just finished using the restroom. She turned on the faucet, gently rubbing her hands under the water. As she glanced up absentmindedly, she noticed a pair of slender, well-defined hands offering her a tissue.
She took the tissue, casually wiped her hands a few times, then turned around, leaning her back lightly against the sink.
“I never expected the little chubby kid from back then to be Brother Tingshen’s younger brother.”
“I also never imagined that Sister Mianmian would be my cousin’s fiancée.”
The young man had a sharply defined face, bearing a slight resemblance to Fu Tingshen, but with a more youthful and vibrant energy.
A teardrop mole at the corner of his eye softened the otherwise aggressive features of his face.
His eyes held an unmistakable affection, though it lasted only a moment before Luo Yunmian caught it.
“Yan Chi, do you like me?”
A flicker of panic flashed in Fu Yanchi’s eyes, but he quickly regained his composure. Meeting her gaze without hesitation, he nodded.
“Yes, I’ve always liked you.”
Luo Yunmian hadn’t expected him to admit it so directly. Her expression immediately cooled, and she adopted a sisterly tone, speaking each word deliberately.
“Yan Chi, you’re still young. There are many emotions you might not fully understand yet, so they can feel confusing. But I’m about to marry your brother now, so…”
Before Luo Yunmian could finish, Fu Yanchi took a swift step forward, cornering her against the wall. He leaned in slightly, his gaze filled with fervor and stubbornness.
“Sister Mianmian, I can make you happier than Brother Tingshen ever could.”
In the next moment, Fu Yanchi reached out, pressed his hand against the back of her neck, and kissed her lips.
Luo Yunmian was horrified, struggling desperately. In her panic, she bit down hard. As their lips and teeth tangled, Luo Yunmian’s lip was also bitten in the struggle.
Finally, Fu Yanchi released her, his eyes still fixed intently on her.
Luo Yunmian had a pair of round, bright almond-shaped eyes that were utterly adorable and full of charm. When she smiled, she radiated warmth and approachability. Her delicate features, paired with a tall, straight nose, gave her an air of cool elegance and captivating allure when she wasn’t smiling.
Now, her cheeks were slightly puffed with anger, her fair face flushed red. Her long hair, which had been neatly tied up, was slightly disheveled from the struggle. Her beautiful almond-shaped eyes were filled with anger and wariness.
“You jerk! I’m your sister-in-law. How could you act so recklessly?”
She wiped her lips vigorously, her panicked eyes darting around. Fortunately, no one was there—otherwise, how would she explain this?
But the culprit seemed completely unfazed, speaking with stubborn arrogance.
“You two aren’t married yet. And even if you were, I wouldn’t mind.”
“Are you insane?”
Unable to hold back, Luo Yunmian slapped him, her eyelashes trembling with anger.
Fu Yanchi pressed his tongue against the wound at the corner of his mouth, tasting the metallic sweetness of blood.
“Yes, I’m lovesick.”
“It was you, Sister Mianmian, who promised to marry me. Why did you go back on your word?”
“That was just childish play-talk.”
Luo Yunmian turned to face the mirror, tidying her hair.
When she spoke again, her tone carried distance and a warning.
“We’ve been out too long. Let’s go back to the restaurant. I hope you forget what just happened. There’s absolutely no possibility between us.”
With that, Luo Yunmian turned and walked away first.
Fu Yanchi’s lips curved into a faint smile as he watched the graceful figure of the woman receding into the distance. A soft “hmph” escaped his throat before he straightened up and followed.
Luo Yunmian and Fu Yanchi returned to the restaurant one after the other.
“What took so long?”
Fu Tingshen handed her a glass of juice with gentlemanly courtesy.
“Thank you. I just took a phone call.”
Luo Yunmian casually made up an excuse.
Fu Tingshen’s gaze swept past inadvertently, catching sight of Luo Yunmian’s slightly swollen lips. A flicker of doubt crossed his mind, and he voiced it.
“Yunmian, what happened to your mouth?”
Luo Yunmian’s heart tightened sharply. She quickly pulled out a tissue, pretending to casually dab her lips, but her eyes avoided meeting Fu Tingshen’s. Forcing an air of nonchalance, she replied.
“It’s nothing.”
Fu Yanchi strolled over leisurely, one hand in his pocket. His gaze settled on Luo Yunmian’s lips as he spoke with a faint, teasing smile.
“I know what just happened to Sister Mianmian.”
Two pairs of eyes turned toward her—one with an amused, watchful expression, the other filled with concern.
Luo Yunmian’s heart clenched nervously. Instinctively, she glanced at Fu Yanchi sitting across from her, her eyes pleading.
“Sister Mianmian, my mouth is a bit thirsty. Could you pour me a glass of juice?”
As he spoke, the young man’s eyes drifted intentionally or unintentionally toward the woman’s lips, his gaze hinting at something unspoken before naturally settling on the orange juice by her right hand.
Luo Yunmian noticed how he deliberately emphasized the word “mouth,” drawing it out with a suggestive undertone.
Reluctantly, she picked up the juice, her hand gripping the glass. Unexpectedly, Fu Yanchi stretched out his right leg, moving it toward the hem of her skirt. The fabric of his trousers brushed against her calf, then slowly crept upward, reaching her thigh.
Startled by the sudden move, Luo Yunmian’s hand trembled, nearly spilling the juice. A few drops splashed onto the tablecloth.
“What’s wrong?” Fu Tingshen asked, noticing her reaction.
Flustered, Luo Yunmian grabbed a tissue to wipe the table, her heart pounding like a drum.
She forced herself to stay calm and let out a light laugh. “Nothing, I just suddenly remembered there’s a document at the company I forgot to have Brother Tingshen sign.”
“It’s not urgent. Tomorrow is fine.”
Fu Yanchi took the glass unhurriedly, took a sip, and remarked, “So sweet.”
His eyes shifted slightly, lingering on the corner of the woman’s mouth.
His gaze was so intense that Luo Yunmian couldn’t ignore it.
“Even if it’s sweet, one should know when to stop.”
Fu Yanchi caught the hidden meaning—she was telling him to back off.
But was that possible?
As if deliberately punishing her, Fu Yanchi pressed his leg firmly against the inside of Luo Yunmian’s thigh, not allowing her to move an inch.
The warmth of his body seeped through his casual trousers, transferring to Luo Yunmian’s skin.
Her body trembled uncontrollably again, as if an electric current had surged through her, leaving a tingling, numbing sensation.
It made her involuntarily recall the kiss in the bathroom—the one she wished she could forget.
Yet Fu Tingshen circled back to his earlier question.
Fu Yanchi chuckled softly, noticing the woman’s obvious unease.
Unhurriedly, he changed the subject: “I saw Sister Mianmian sneaking a taste of the soup Auntie was simmering in the kitchen. She burned her mouth.”
“Why are you so tempted by Sister Yun’s cooking?”
Fu Tingshen didn’t think much of it. With a smile in his eyes, he teased her.
Clearly relieved, Luo Yunmian let out a long, quiet sigh.
“I was just thinking I might try to learn it secretly.”
“You can come over anytime you want to eat. We’re so close anyway.”
Fu Tingshen’s casual remark allowed Luo Yunmian to relax completely—except for the lingering fear that Fu Yanchi might stir up trouble again.
Luo Yunmian lived in her grandmother’s villa, just one building away from Fu Tingshen’s home. Their families had been close friends for generations, with deep ties.
Snapping back to the moment, she heard Fu Tingshen ask Fu Yanchi something.
Luo Yunmian looked up, meeting Fu Yanchi’s refined face—his sharply defined jawline and long, thick eyelashes that trembled faintly.
He smiled brightly, looking completely harmless.
“I came back because the girl I liked betrayed me.”
For some reason, Luo Yunmian connected that “girl” to herself.
But she had never liked him in the first place—how could there be any betrayal?
“Do I know that girl?” Fu Tingshen asked.
Luo Yunmian’s heart rose to her throat again. Her body trembled slightly, and her hand gripping the chopsticks tightened again and again.
Fu Yanchi glanced at Luo Yunmian and raised an eyebrow, speaking word by word.
“Yes, you do. She is…”
