“Mianmian, can you let me stay with you tonight?”

A muffled voice drifted down from above Luo Yunmian’s head. Only then did she realize he had already silently appeared before her without her noticing.

She instinctively took a step back, pressing her back tightly against the entryway wall. Tilting her head up slightly, she took a deep breath and forced out the words through gritted teeth.Full novel: Entangled Passion: Beijing to Hong Kong — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“You’re 23 years old, not a child anymore.”

Fu Yanchi paid no mind to her rejection. Instead, he leaned in closer, his warm breath brushing against her cheek. His tone carried a hint of grievance and reluctance.

“But Mianmian, deep down, you still always treat me like a child.”

“You are a child in my eyes.”

Luo Yunmian retorted bluntly.

Fu Yanchi’s gaze fixed intently on her, as if trying to see right through her. Then, lowering his voice, he hinted with a touch of ambiguity.

“Whether I’m small or not, didn’t you find out that day?”

His words carried an increasingly suggestive undertone, making the air around them feel thick and heavy.

His warm breath gently brushed against Luo Yunmian’s ear like silk threads, sending a tingling sensation coursing through her body like an electric current.

The scent of sandalwood mingled with his unique, intoxicating masculine aura.

It constantly teased her nerves, making her heart tighten. She swallowed hard, unable to help herself.

“Yan Chi, we’re both adults. What happened between adults was just a one-night stand.”

She tried to keep her voice steady, but a slight tremble betrayed her inner turmoil.

“Hah, I didn’t know Mianmian was so experienced.”

His voice sounded innocent, but then he shifted the topic.

“But… that was my first time.”

Luo Yunmian was caught off guard by his sudden statement. She stood there frozen, unsure how to respond.

After a moment, she mustered the courage to say, “It was my first time too, so… we’re even. Can we just move on?”

“No, Mianmian.”

Fu Yanchi lifted his head slightly, a stubborn glint in his eyes.

“I’m a bit of a clean freak. It seems I’m only interested in your body, Mianmian.

“So you have to take responsibility for me.”

A sudden knock on the door interrupted them. Both Luo Yunmian and Fu Yanchi turned their attention toward the entrance.

Fu Tingshen’s voice came from outside. “Yunmian, are you in your room? Let’s talk.”

Luo Yunmian frowned slightly, noticing Fu Yanchi’s teasing gaze. After a moment of silence, she replied.

“I’m already asleep. I’ll be returning to Hong Kong tomorrow. We can talk then.”

Dealing with Fu Tingshen on one side and a troublesome puppy-like figure inside her room on the other, she was utterly exhausted.

“Alright then, get some rest early. As for what happened with Xin’er today, I apologize on her behalf.”

After Fu Tingshen finished speaking, his footsteps faded away.

Just as Luo Yunmian was about to tell Fu Yanchi he could leave, he walked toward the bathroom door first, tossing back a cheeky remark.

“Mianmian, I’m going to take a shower. No peeking.”

He even gave her a wink before closing the door.

“Me? Peek? Do I need to peek?”

Fuming, Luo Yunmian plopped down on the sofa, grabbed a bottle of mineral water, twisted the cap open forcefully, and took a big gulp.

Only after she set down the bottled water did she belatedly realize that the cap had been unusually easy to twist open just now.

Picking it up for a closer look, she discovered it was the very bottle Fu Yanchi had been drinking from earlier.

A strange, restless heat inexplicably stirred within her.

When Fu Yanchi emerged from inside, Luo Yunmian was genuinely surprised to see him fully dressed and tidy.

She had assumed he was about to leave, but instead, Fu Yanchi plopped down onto the sofa, his voice still carrying that soft, gentle tone.

“Sister Mianmian, you go ahead and shower to rest. Today, let this sofa be my refuge.”

Luo Yunmian was about to reach out and pull him up when she noticed Fu Yanchi had already settled in, closing his eyes. He looked utterly exhausted.

The words on the tip of her tongue were swallowed back. Watching this tall man curled up in the cramped sofa, his long legs tucked in, she felt an inexplicable wave of irritation.

“Suit yourself. But if you dare try anything on me again, I won’t go easy on you.”

Fu Yanchi responded unhurriedly, “Alright then, unless Sister Mianmian comes begging me.”

With that, he paid her no further mind. Seeing this, Luo Yunmian huffed angrily, strode straight to the entryway, switched off the light with a sharp “click,” and headed to the bathroom alone.

She scrubbed herself for over half an hour. After changing into her pajamas and slipping under the covers, she tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep.

After all, there was someone lying on the sofa outside, watching her like a hawk, harboring ulterior motives.

The February weather still carried a chill. After wrestling with herself for a while, she sat up, roughly ran her hands through her hair, then glanced at the pillow on the other side. She picked it up, went to the closet to fetch a thin blanket, and carried both out.

Opening the door, she walked to the sofa and tossed the pillow and blanket onto Fu Yanchi, saying irritably,

“Don’t catch a cold. I don’t want to be held responsible later.” Without looking back, she returned to her room.

Fu Yanchi chuckled softly, arranged the pillow, and draped the blanket over himself.

To Luo Yunmian’s surprise, she ended up sleeping exceptionally soundly afterward, waking naturally.

When she got up and went to the living room, she was startled to find Fu Yanchi already gone, with no trace of when he had left.

Just as well. It spared her the awkwardness of facing him.

Since her flight was at nine today, Luo Yunmian packed her things and went alone to the sixth-floor buffet. Unexpectedly, she still ran into Shen Xin’er.

“Miss Luo, over here.” Shen Xin’er waved to her.

The white tea’s tactics were truly high-level. Having outright declared war yesterday, today she acted as if nothing had happened.

Luo Yunmian sat at the adjacent table. “I’ll sit here.”

“Miss Luo, are you still angry with me?”

“Shouldn’t I be? Should I be grateful and praise Miss Shen for framing me so well?”

Luo Yunmian took a sip of milk, glancing at her with a faint, mocking smile.

“Yunmian, Xin’er apologized to you yesterday. Don’t be so aggressive.”

Luo Yunmian looked up to see Fu Tingshen walking over with a tray, sitting down beside Shen Xin’er.

He handed her a ceramic pot with gentlemanly grace.

“Thank you, Tingshen. You still remember I love this fish maw soup.”

Shen Xin’er shot her a challenging look. Luo Yunmian scoffed.

What rotten luck. Her breakfast instantly lost its appeal. She wiped her lips with a napkin, stood up, and paused at the neighboring table.

“President Fu, I am your girlfriend now, so was I just asking for it by being framed yesterday?”

Luo Yunmian looked into Fu Tingshen’s astonished eyes and spoke again, “I’m full. I’ll head to the airport first.”

After saying this, Luo Yunmian left without looking back.
