A familiar sandalwood scent, intertwined with his unique masculine aura, drifted faintly around her nose.
A tall, cool figure loomed over her from above.
She instinctively stepped back until her back pressed against the wall, a chill seeping through her clothes.
“What’s wrong, Mianmian? You slept with me and then ran away?”
Fu Yanchi’s cold yet slightly aggrieved voice reached her ears.
Luo Yunmian hadn’t expected him to follow her all the way here just to start with an accusation. Her eyes fluttered nervously, avoiding his gaze as her line of sight wandered.
“I… I’m here on a business trip.”
Fu Yanchi let out a soft, mocking laugh.
He braced one hand against the wall, trapping Luo Yunmian between himself and the cold surface. With his other hand, he lifted her chin, forcing her to look up at him.
“Mianmian, are you planning to abandon me again?”
Luo Yunmian felt conflicted, unsure how to respond to this complicated and contradictory relationship.
“I didn’t… Anyway, what we’re doing isn’t right.”
“What are we like? Like this?”
As he spoke, Fu Yanchi leaned down mischievously and gently nipped her lips.
Blushing with embarrassment and anger, Luo Yunmian raised her foot and kicked the young man in the abdomen.
Caught off guard, Fu Yanchi doubled over in pain, letting out a low groan.
The dim sensor light flickered intermittently, casting shifting shadows across his face and making his pained expression even more pronounced.
Did she actually hurt him?
Fu Yanchi’s voice, tinged with grievance, drifted over softly.
“Mianmian, if you break it, what will you use in the future?”
The sympathy Luo Yunmian had just felt vanished instantly, replaced by a flush of crimson spreading across her cheeks.
Even injured, he still had to tease her.
But seeing that he seemed genuinely in pain, she gritted her teeth and suppressed her anger.
“I’ll take you to the hospital.”
Fu Yanchi’s stubborn and obstinate voice refused her offer.
“No.”
“It’s your own body. If something happens, don’t blame me.”
Fu Yanchi took a moment to recover before standing up, his voice muffled as he “accused” her.
“I took such good care of you yesterday, and today you’re already burning bridges.”
“Mianmian, you’re such a heartbreaker.”
“Yan Chi, what do you actually want?”
Stimulated by his relentless remarks, Luo Yunmian clenched and unclenched her fists.
Her emotions were on the verge of breaking.
“I’m really hungry. I haven’t eaten all day just to come find you.”
Fu Yanchi knew exactly when to back off.
Luo Yunmian met his gaze. The young man’s eyes were slightly bloodshot, and his face looked somewhat weary.
In modern terms, Fu Yanchi had what could be described as a cat-like appearance. He possessed a pair of peach-blossom eyes that seemed to gaze deeply at everyone, with full under-eye pouches and slightly downturned outer corners—typical puppy-dog eyes that gave off a gentle feeling when he smiled.
Combined with the innocent expression in his peach-blossom eyes at that moment, he looked very much like a pitiful little puppy.
In the end, Luo Yunmian relented.
She felt a bit soft-hearted.
“Fix your clothes. Let’s go eat outside.”
Luo Yunmian didn’t want to return to the private room to watch Fu Tingshen’s hypocritical performance.
Compared to Fu Tingshen, Fu Yanchi was at least honest.
Fu Yanchi didn’t know that Luo Yunmian was comparing him to Fu Tingshen.
If he knew she was comparing him to the older brother he despised, he might go mad.
The two arrived at the elevator entrance and stepped inside together.
Just as the elevator doors were about to close, Luo Yunmian caught a glimpse of Shen Xin’er, dressed in a striking red bodycon dress, walking toward the elevator arm in arm with Fu Tingshen.
She flusteredly reached out to pull Fu Yanchi over, covering his mouth with her hand.
Using her lips, she signaled him to stay quiet.
Fu Yanchi was facing the woman when his mouth was suddenly covered. The girl’s hand was soft, with a slightly cool touch.
He inexplicably stuck out his tongue and licked it.
Luo Yunmian stiffened, nearly cursing aloud.
At that moment, the elevator doors were promptly opened as someone pressed the button, and several people walked in.
“Tingshen, Miss Luo has been gone for so long without returning. Shouldn’t you call her?”
It was Shen Xin’er’s voice.
No wonder Sister Mianmian was so nervous.
Fu Yanchi took a step forward, gently pulling open his trench coat to shield Luo Yunmian.
Immediately afterward, a voice came from behind: “Let me call and see where she is.”
The ringing abruptly echoed in the cramped elevator. Luo Yunmian stared at the phone she had hastily picked up.
It was supposed to be on silent.
Then a voice came from beside her, “Hey, honey, I’m coming out now. Wait for me a moment.”
Fu Yanchi clearly felt Luo Yunmian let out a sigh of relief.
Fu Tingshen stood to the side, holding his phone and dialing, only to find the call wouldn’t go through. A hint of surprise crossed his face: “Strange, the call isn’t connecting.”
His gaze inadvertently swept toward Fu Yanchi, who had his back turned to them. He felt the figure looked familiar but couldn’t quite place it at the moment.
“It’s not going through?”
“No, don’t worry about her. She’s a grown woman; she won’t get lost.”
Luo Yunmian breathed a sigh of relief.
So the phone ringtone belonged to someone else in the elevator.
Shen Xin’er’s gaze inadvertently fell on Fu Yanchi’s back, and she couldn’t help but softly utter, “Huh?”
“Tingshen, doesn’t this person’s back look a lot like Yanchi?”
As soon as these words were spoken, the elevator instantly fell silent.
Luo Yunmian felt her heartbeat suddenly quicken, a sense of panic as if caught in the act washing over her.
She instinctively tightened her grip on Fu Yanchi’s collar.
Fu Tingshen straightened up at that moment, reaching out to move closer to Fu Yanchi. Just as his hand was about to land on his shoulder, Fu Yanchi leaned forward slightly.
He reached out, threading his fingers through the woman’s waterfall-like hair, then pressed down on the back of her head with a bit of force.
With his other hand, he lifted the trench coat, perfectly shielding the woman’s face, and then leaned in to kiss her.
Luo Yunmian’s entire body went numb, immediately followed by Shen Xin’er’s reproachful voice.
“Oh, Tingshen, they’re a couple getting intimate in the elevator. Don’t disturb them.”
From Shen Xin’er’s position, she could just see the woman’s long hair cascading over the man’s arm.
“Young people these days are really bold.”
Shen Xin’er spoke again, her tone tinged with envy.
“You were pretty bold back then too, daring to kiss me right at my doorstep.”
“Tingshen…” Shen Xin’er chided playfully.
Listening to their flirtatious banter, Luo Yunmian felt a desolate emptiness in her heart.
Fortunately, the elevator dinged open, and the people inside walked out, leaving only Luo Yunmian and Fu Yanchi behind.
Unsurprisingly, Luo Yunmian pushed Fu Yanchi away.
“Sister Mianmian, are you using me and then discarding me again?”
Fu Yanchi took a step back, leaning against the elevator wall, his gaze fixed intently on her without straying.
His eyelashes fluttered, his eyes swirling with a meaningful emotion, his dejected appearance resembling a little puppy that had been abandoned.
“I… aren’t you hungry? Let’s go eat.”
Luo Yunmian felt inexplicably guilty under such a gaze that had struck a chord within her. She stammered and tried to change the subject.
After speaking, Luo Yunmian wiped the corner of her mouth and stepped out of the elevator first.
How could a perfectly normal person be so good at acting cute? And she just happened to fall for it.
Fu Yanchi chuckled softly and followed her out of the elevator, unconsciously licking his lips.
It was sweet.
