The cocktail party was held in a luxurious manor.

The people from the “Cloud” Group had specially arranged a business car to pick up Fu Tingshen, Luo Yunmian, and the others.

Luo Yunmian only took off her trench coat after getting out of the car and arriving at the entrance of the manor. It was then that everyone noticed her gown, their eyes filled with admiration.Full novel: Entangled Passion: Beijing to Hong Kong — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Today, she was wearing the set gifted by “President Huo.”

The strapless top was made of champagne-colored satin, paired with a black bow. The lower half featured a voluminous purple skirt that swayed gently with her steps.

Her jet-black, slightly wavy long hair cascaded loosely, making her round, bright eyes sparkle like stars.

She looked like a little fairy stepping out of a painting.

Fu Tingshen’s gaze was equally captivated, while Shen Xin’er’s grip on her bag tightened until her knuckles turned white.

He stepped forward and extended his hand. Luo Yunmian was taken aback, glancing inadvertently at Shen Xin’er before naturally linking arms with him.

Shen Xin’er watched, convinced it was a deliberate provocation, her eyes filled with resentment.

The interior was spacious, with high ceilings and opulent crystal chandeliers. It was divided into a reception area, a wine-tasting zone, a dining section, and a social dance floor.

As Fu Tingshen’s nominal girlfriend, Luo Yunmian followed him, holding a wine glass as they toasted with partners and executives from other companies at the party.

“President Fu’s companion is truly stunning.”

Someone complimented, and Fu Tingshen felt a sense of pride and satisfaction.

“This is my girlfriend. We’re getting engaged next week—you’re all welcome to attend.”

Luo Yunmian was surprised that he would openly announce their engagement. Wasn’t he afraid of hurting Shen Xin’er’s feelings?

She glanced subtly and, sure enough, Shen Xin’er’s eyes were reddening. The sight of a beauty in tears was heartbreaking.

Fu Tingshen seemed to sense that gaze and looked over. Luo Yunmian clearly felt his body stiffen.

She tactfully released his arm. “President Fu, I’ll go over there to grab something to eat.”

Luo Yunmian held her glass and savored the wine alone.

Just as she expected, Fu Tingshen exchanged a few symbolic toasts before heading in the direction Shen Xin’er had left.

Luo Yunmian had only gone to the restroom and didn’t expect to find them nearby.

Fu Tingshen was wiping Shen Xin’er’s tears.

“Xin’er, you know I have to get engaged to Yunmian.”

“I know, but it still hurts. Your parents only accept her. It’s all my fault for being older than you and leaving you back then.”

Shen Xin’er’s eyes brimmed with tears, looking utterly pitiful. Luo Yunmian thought that if she were a man, she’d probably be moved too.

“I’ll always treat you well.”

Luo Yunmian’s heart ached sharply. The man she had loved for six years, the one she had idealized, had suddenly fallen from grace into the depths of hell.

Her eyes couldn’t help but redden. She tilted her head back to hold back her tears, and when she looked again, the two were already embracing and kissing. She even clearly saw the man’s hand slip beneath the woman’s skirt.

Suppressing her emotions, she took out her phone and recorded it.

Luo Yunmian hadn’t expected them to finish in just over ten minutes. A soft, mocking laugh came from behind her.

Startled, she hid her phone and turned to see a tall man wearing a mask. He was dressed in a sharp black suit, leaning casually against the wall.

Despite the mask, his presence felt overwhelmingly intense. Just from the visible half of his face, Luo Yunmian couldn’t help but think he must be incredibly handsome.

He toyed with a custom-made lighter in his hand, flicking it casually again and again. Amid the flickering sparks, his eyes held a teasing glint as his gaze fixed directly on her.

Luo Yunmian couldn’t help but freeze, her heart instantly sinking.

Oh no, she had no idea how long this person had been watching from behind. She felt like a child caught red-handed spying on someone doing something wrong—awkward and embarrassed.

Especially with his intense stare fixed on her, his eyes felt inexplicably familiar, yet she couldn’t for the life of her recall where she had seen him before.

She took a deep breath and steeled herself to ask, “How much did you see?” The man curled his lips into a faint, elusive smile, his tone dripping with mockery.

“I saw everything, including the two of them putting on a live show over there.”

Luo Yunmian hadn’t expected him to be so blunt. Her face flushed crimson, and she opened her mouth, at a loss for words.

She had no idea how to explain herself and just wanted to find a hole to crawl into.

“So, Miss Luo enjoys peeping at people having sex?”

“Don’t talk nonsense…”

Just as Luo Yunmian was about to defend herself further, he gestured with his chin toward her back, his smile growing even more enigmatic.

“They’re heading this way.”

Luo Yunmian stiffened instantly, panicking and unsure what to do. Instinctively, she looked for a place to hide.

At that moment, the man suddenly reached out and pulled her toward him, spinning her around forcefully. In an instant, Luo Yunmian was completely enveloped beneath his tall frame.

He leaned close to her ear and whispered in a low voice, “Don’t move. They’re coming.”

“Tingshen, we’ve been out for so long. Do you think Miss Luo might suspect something?”

Shen Xin’er’s voice drifted over.

Luo Yunmian only heard Fu Tingshen respond in a hushed tone, “No, she trusts me completely.”

Yes, she trusted him completely. Fu Tingshen, you’re so confident that you can openly and shamelessly be with your white moonlight anytime, anywhere…

As he spoke, he walked past Luo Yunmian but suddenly stopped in his tracks. The woman’s dress in front of him looked strangely familiar, but the lighting was too dim for him to see clearly.

Just as he was about to take another step forward for a closer look, he heard the man ahead speak, “Darling, may I kiss you?”

No sooner had the words left his mouth than the man leaned down without hesitation and gently pressed his lips to Luo Yunmian’s.

Shocked and furious, Luo Yunmian tried to push him away with all her might, but his arm around her waist tightened even more, rendering her completely immobile.

He whispered in her ear, “If you don’t want your boyfriend to know you caught them cheating, stay quiet now.”

Struck by his words, Luo Yunmian dared not move again, allowing him to hold her until the footsteps faded away. As soon as they did, she lifted her foot to kick him, but he dodged it.

“How ungrateful. I helped you, Miss Luo, and this is how you repay me?”

Luo Yunmian wiped her lips disdainfully while eyeing the man before her warily.

“How did you know he’s my boyfriend? And how do you know my surname is Luo?”

“Miss Luo, you’re asking so many questions at once. Which one should I answer first?”

He clearly had no intention of answering. She turned to leave but was pulled back abruptly.

“What do you want?”

“Miss Luo, you look stunning today. May I have a dance with you later?”

“Sorry, I don’t dance with strangers.” Luo Yunmian shook off his hand and walked straight ahead.

Only the voice from behind carried certainty.

“Is that so? I’m quite looking forward to it.”

The man’s laughter echoed especially loudly in the corridor.

Yunmian paused her steps, muttered “psycho” under her breath, and quickened her pace.
