Mu Anran cast a restrained glance at him and, for some reason, every time their eyes met, she felt her heart race with fear.
She didn’t know how he would treat her, especially since she had offended him before and even taken compromising photos of him.
Now, just thinking about it made her wish she could faint on the spot.
Her mind must have been addled by a door slam to have provoked such a dangerous man.
“That…
Young Master Yu, thank you for rescuing me just now.
And now…”
Before she could finish, Yu Lingqian interrupted her, “And now what?”
He was too close, his enticing hormonal scent assaulting her senses and eroding her rationale.
Mu Anran took a couple of heavy breaths, urgently.
She had to leave this place immediately, get away from this dangerous man, or she feared she couldn’t control herself…
And pounce on him again!
“Now, I’m feeling a bit unwell, and I’d like to leave…” Mu Anran stammered out, fearing that the man in front of her might suddenly turn on her.
After a long silence, she faintly heard a sneer of mockery from above her.
Then, Yu Lingqian released her and turned to walk out of the bedroom.
Mu Anran found it hard to believe: he was just letting her go?
The burning sensation inside of her grew more intense, and Mu Anran propped up her weak body, staggering out of the bathroom.
She turned her head and saw Yu Lingqian standing on the balcony, his back to her.
Clad in a black shirt and trousers, he merged with the night outside the window.
She took a deep breath, and just as her slender hand touched the doorknob, she heard the man’s cold voice:
“Are you really so in love with money?”
So much so that you would rather be in that kind of smoky, filthy place, dealing with a bunch of trash?
His words struck her chest sharply, turning Mu Anran’s pretty face deathly pale.
She didn’t turn around, just weakly nodded her head, “Yes, so now I need to go to Night Club to settle the commission for the drinks I sold tonight.”
With that said, she turned the lock on the door.
At this moment, she had no right to be self-righteous.
If she had no money, what would happen to her brother?
With a “click,” the lock opened, and Mu Anran, dragging her feeble steps, prepared to leave.
But the hand that reached from behind to hold the door stopped her, and the alluring scent of the man enveloped her once more.
Mu Anran tensed up, her gaze beginning to blur.
“Do you know why I appeared there?” Yu Lingqian’s harsh voice rang in her ear.
Mu Anran shook her head weakly: How would she know?
“Because Mu’s people found out that you had hooked up with me, so they wanted to negotiate a business deal with me.”
Mu’s?
Mu Anran turned around abruptly, disbelievingly staring at Yu Lingqian, “What did you say?”
Yu Lingqian sneered, “Mu Nancheng is your father, right?
To get me to sign this contract, he made a supplementary offer…”
At the mention of “Mu Nancheng,” Mu Anran felt an ominous premonition rise within her.
“Your father said that trading a disobedient daughter for Mu’s new project is worth it,” he continued.
A bone-chilling coldness crept up from her feet; she felt as if her blood had turned to ice:
Was Mu Nancheng selling her out?
Was she really Mu Nancheng’s biological daughter?
How could there be such a father, more beastly than the beasts, in this world?
Seeing Mu Anran’s trembling body, Yu Lingqian turned and sat on the leather sofa that was wide enough for one.
He crossed his hands over his chest; on the desk in front of him lay a contract that Mu’s had sent over: “However, I told him that the choice is yours.”
