Lizarius watched as the two remaining wolves stared in shock.
Then— his body slowly began to disappear.
The wolves trembled in fear as Lizarius vanished from their sight.
One of them suddenly coughed up blood.
Before it could react—
Lizarius materialized beside it.
His tail pierced straight through its side.
The wolf’s body convulsed.
Lizarius withdrew his blood-covered tail.
The wolf collapsed to the ground.
Seeing its companion fall, the remaining wolf immediately turned and fled.
Lizarius glanced at the retreating beast.
His tail swung.
**SHING!**
Golden scales shot through the air.
They pierced the fleeing wolf from behind.
The beast collapsed instantly.
Lizarius stood beside the corpse of the wolf he had killed with his tail.
*I guess that’s all.*
He opened his jaws and began to feed.
An hour later— the leaders of the Flaming Wolves and Wind Wolves still stood facing each other.
Both were severely injured and gasping for breath.
Half of the Wind Wolf leader’s face had been burned away, exposing the damaged flesh beneath.
The Flaming Wolf leader’s body was covered in deep cuts from the Wind Wolf leader’s wind slashes.
The two beasts stared at each other.
Neither moved.
Then— the Wind Wolf leader raised its head and released a powerful howl.
**AWOOOOOO!**
The wind suddenly began to rise around it.
Leaves and dust were lifted from the forest floor, swirling violently through the air.
Seeing this, the Flaming Wolf leader growled and bared its teeth.
Blue flames erupted around its body.
The Flaming Wolf leader suddenly charged.
The Wind Wolf leader stood its ground, surrounded by a spinning barrier of wind.
**BOOM!**
The Flaming Wolf leader slammed into the barrier and was thrown backward.
It rolled across the ground before quickly rising again.
Blue flames gathered around its paw.
It swung its paw downward.
**BOOM!**
A massive blue flame claw tore across the ground toward the Wind Wolf leader.
**CRACK!**
The flame claw struck the spinning wind barrier.
The barrier shattered.
The Flaming Wolf leader immediately charged forward.
Seeing it coming, the Wind Wolf leader launched multiple wind slashes.
**SHING!
SHING!
SHING!**
The Flaming Wolf leader dodged one after another.
But it couldn’t avoid them all.
One wind slash struck its eye.
**SPLASH!**
The Flaming Wolf leader released a painful growl.
Yet it didn’t stop.
It continued charging.
The Flaming Wolf leader leaped into the air.
Its jaws opened wide.
Blue flames erupted from its mouth.
It reached the Wind Wolf leader before the weakened beast could react.
**CRUNCH!**
The Flaming Wolf leader bit down on its neck.
Blue flames immediately engulfed the Wind Wolf leader’s body.
The flames burned through its flesh.
The Wind Wolf leader struggled weakly before going still.
The Flaming Wolf leader released the charred corpse and stepped back, panting heavily.
A while before the Wind Wolf leader was killed— multiple wolf skeletons had already been scattered across the forest floor.
Lizarius had just finished consuming the last remaining wolf corpse.
He raised his head.
Blood dripped from his mouth.
The system’s voice sounded in his mind.
**“Gain 2,800 Evolution Points, 22 Flaming Wolf Gene Points, and 23 Wind Wolf Gene Points.”**
Lizarius turned his head toward the direction where the two wolf leaders had been fighting.
He extended his tongue and slowly licked the blood from his mouth.
*Looks like the big bosses’ battle is still going on.*
Lizarius slowly became invisible.
He spread his wings and took to the air. This story is hosted at g.com.
His body disappeared completely as he flew toward the ongoing battle.
Below— the Flaming Wolf leader stood beside the charred corpse of the Wind Wolf leader.
The blue flames surrounding its body were slowly dying down.
Suddenly— the Flaming Wolf leader coughed.
**Cough!**
Blood spilled from its mouth.
Lizarius slowly became visible beside it.
The Flaming Wolf leader immediately noticed him.
It growled and desperately attempted to reignite the flames around its body.
Lizarius watched it.
*Still trying to put up a fight?*
His yellow eyes narrowed.
*No matter how much you struggle, death is the only outcome.*
Lightning suddenly erupted from Lizarius’s body.
He gathered the lightning into his tail.
His tail pierced straight into the Flaming Wolf leader.
**CRACK!**
Lightning surged through its body.
The powerful electricity spread through its flesh, roasting it from the inside out.
The Flaming Wolf leader convulsed violently.
Lizarius slowly pulled his tail free.
The Flaming Wolf leader collapsed.
Steam rose from its body.
It released one final, low growl.
Then— it died.
Lizarius looked down at the lifeless body of the Flaming Wolf leader.
*Beasts will remain beasts.*
*They’ll kill each other out of pure greed.*
His yellow eyes shifted toward the battlefield.
*It turns out the threat wasn’t that much of a threat.*
Lizarius’s gaze became distant as he pieced everything together.
*Both packs wanted the crocodile’s corpse from the very beginning.*
*I was simply an obstacle in their way.*
*An obstacle they had to work together to get rid of.*
His eyes narrowed.
*But when that obstacle simply disappeared, there was no longer any reason for the Flaming Wolves to cooperate with the Wind Wolves that had invaded their hunting ground.*
*It was only a matter of time before they started tearing each other apart.*
A faint gleam appeared in Lizarius’s yellow eyes.
*So, with a little push, a brutal battle unfolded.*
*A battle where the winner takes all.*
His gaze fell upon the corpse of the Flaming Wolf leader.
*But what happens when that so-called winner suddenly dies?*
Lizarius stood beside the corpse.
His yellow eyes glowed.
He slowly opened his jaws.
Acidic saliva dripped from his mouth.
Then— he bit down on the Flaming Wolf leader’s corpse and began to eat.
As he devoured the flesh, his thoughts continued.
*It’s only fair that I take it all.*
*What was rightfully mine.*
