A while later, Lizarius had finished consuming both the Flaming Wolf leader and the Wind Wolf leader.
He extended his tongue, licking the blood from his mouth.
The system announced:
**“You gain 600 Evolution Points, the Mutated Blue Flaming Wolf Gene, and 4 Wind Wolf Gene Points.”**
Lizarius finished licking the blood from his mouth.
He spread his wings and took flight.
After several seconds of flying, he landed near the crocodile’s corpse.
Lizarius slowly approached the remains.
Acidic saliva dripped from his mouth.
He reached the crocodile’s corpse, opened his jaws, and bit down.
**CRUNCH!**
He tore off a piece of flesh and began eating.
He continued devouring the corpse without stopping.
Time passed.
Eventually, night fell.
The full moon illuminated the sky, casting a soft glow across the forest.
The crocodile’s bones now lay scattered across the ground.
Moonlight fell upon Lizarius as he stood near the remains, having just finished consuming the massive corpse.
He raised his head.
Blood dripped from his mouth.
The system announced:
**“Gain 700 Evolution Points, the Blue Scale Crocodile Gene, and 8 Gene Points.”**
Lizarius extended his tongue and licked the blood from his mouth.
*That sure took a while.*
His body felt heavy.
*I feel so tired.*
Lizarius began moving away from the crocodile’s remains.
As he walked, his body slowly faded from sight.
*I need to find somewhere to rest.*
Still invisible, Lizarius made his way toward the waterfall.
The plunge pool at the bottom reflected the soft glow of the moonlight.
Lizarius stopped and looked toward the waterfall.
*I remember the crocodile came out of a cave hidden behind the waterfall.*
He crouched slightly before jumping.
His wings spread.
**WHOOSH!**
Lizarius flew through the waterfall and landed inside the hidden cave.
The cave was dark.
But Lizarius could see easily in the darkness.
As his eyes adjusted, he noticed something scattered across the cave floor.
There were more than thirty of them.
Lizarius stared at the eggs.
*So this is why they were willing to fight to the death.*
He slowly moved toward them.
His yellow eyes glowed in the darkness.
Lizarius opened his jaws.
*Since they were willing to die protecting their eggs…*
He lowered his head.
*I’m going to make sure I send them along.*
He bit down.
**CRUNCH!**
Lizarius swallowed the egg in a single gulp.
The system immediately announced:
**“Gain 30 Evolution Points and 1 Blue Scale Crocodile Gene Point.”**
Lizarius continued.
One egg.
Then another.
Then another.
He devoured them one after another.
After a while, the system announced:
**“Gain 1,080 Evolution Points and 36 Blue Scale Crocodile Gene Points.”**
Lizarius extended his tongue and licked his mouth clean.
Then he asked,
“System, how many points do I have?”
The system replied:
**“9,510 Evolution Points, 64 Flaming Wolf Gene Points, 46 Blue Scale Crocodile Gene Points, and 60 Wind Wolf Gene Points.”**
Lizarius remained silent for a moment.
Then—
“Fuse all Genes.”
A powerful shock suddenly ran through his body.
His vision became blurry.
His eyelids grew heavy.
*So tired…*
His eyes slowly closed.
His body collapsed to the cave floor.
Lizarius lost consciousness.
Sunlight streamed through the waterfall, illuminating the hidden cave.
The soft morning light spread across the dark cavern.
Then— the system’s voice sounded.
**“Evolution complete.”**
Lizarius slowly opened his eyes.
He raised himself from the ground and stood.
He looked much the same as before.
However, there was one noticeable difference.
The scales covering his back now carried faint shades of blue, the result of fusing the Blue Scale Crocodile Genes.
Lizarius looked over his body.
Then—
**Grrrrr…**
Blue flames suddenly appeared inside his mouth.
The flames rapidly gathered into a fireball.
**BOOM!**
Lizarius launched the fireball toward the waterfall.
The attack struck the falling water.
**BANG!**
A small explosion erupted.
Lizarius immediately spread his wings.
He swung them powerfully and flew straight through the explosion.
He didn’t land.
Instead, he continued rising.
Higher.
And higher.
Soon, Lizarius emerged into the open sky.
He hovered in the air and looked down at the wreckage of the battlefield.
His yellow eyes scanned the forest below.
Then— his body slowly disappeared.
Lizarius became invisible.
He turned and flew away, heading toward the source of the waterfall’s water.
As he flew through the forest, something caught his attention.
A beast.
Lizarius remained invisible as he descended.
Below him, a creature was drinking from the water.
He landed silently on a nearby tree.
Then he moved closer.
As he observed the creature, he realized what it was.
A tortoise.
It was nearly as large as a bear.
Lizarius’s yellow eyes glowed.
*I’m so hungry.*
He extended his tongue, licking his mouth.
Then he asked the system,
“What kind of beast is that?”
The system replied:
**“Earth Tortoise.
They possess strong defensive capabilities and can manipulate nearby earth to launch attacks.”**
