Outside the dооr, Сhu Yi аnd Chu Er sроkе uр with some сonсern.

“It’s fine.” Yаn Shi’s voicе was somеwhat weak, уеt it сouldn’t соnceal thе eхсitement hiddеn in his tone.

Сhu Yi and Сhu Еr еxсhanged а glancе, sоmеwhat puzzled. This time, their master’s mооd… seemed quite gооd?

Beforе thе two could think further, Yan Shi’s lazy voice came again, “Withdraw. Do not guard This Prince tonight.”

Upon hearing this, Chu Er’s eyes instantly reddened again.

Every month, the heat poison in their master’s body would flare up two or three times, and only by lying in the ice coffin could it be somewhat alleviated.

Each time the poison flared up was when their master was at his weakest. The capital was filled with hidden eyes, everyone like lurking beasts, eager to seize any opportunity to tear their master apart.

How could they leave even half a step away?

Chu Er’s eyes reddened as he whispered with restrained emotion, “Master…”

“Do not make This Prince repeat myself.”

The voice from inside the room instantly dropped several degrees colder, carrying an unquestionable tone.

The next second, that tone took a few twists, tinged with excited anticipation, “Go down. This Prince’s unruly little deer has sneaked out. Do not startle her.”

Chu Yi tugged at Chu Er, bowed respectfully, and said with lowered head, “Yes.”

Only when they reached the center of the courtyard did Chu Er slowly react, “Do we have a deer in our mansion?”

Chu Yi glanced at him, said nothing, and stepped out.

Chu Er followed, words tumbling out, “Chu Yi, when did our master raise a deer?”

Chu Yi answered succinctly, “Tonight.”

“Impossible.” Chu Er scratched the back of his head. “Where is the deer? How come I didn’t know?”

“I’ve been guarding our master all night. Our master only took in a little Princess Consort tonight, where did he raise…”

Chu Er stopped in his tracks, his eyes widening suddenly, the redness that had just faded from his eyes welling up again.

“Damn it! Even when our master is like this, she still wants to seduce him! How can our master endure it!”

Chu Er spoke indignantly, turning to go back. Chu Yi sighed, skillfully covering his mouth and dragging him away.

Inside the ice coffin, Yan Shi chuckled softly.

His little Princess Consort seemed somewhat foolish, yet she was quite picky with food—at the table, she only chose what was convenient and delicious.

A few scares and she’d whimper and pout, so delicate.

Moreover, with skin so tender it seemed one could squeeze water from it, how could she be willing to obediently sleep on a bedboard covered only with a thin cloth?

Yan Shi curled his cold, pale, distinct knuckles, lightly tapping on the ice coffin. He gently closed his eyes, carefully listening to the movements outside.

The rhythm of his tapping on the ice coffin gradually slowed, then finally stopped. A smile curled at the corner of Yan Shi’s mouth.

Creak.

Yun Jiao pushed open the door. Even though she had mentally prepared herself, her heart still skipped a beat when she saw the ice coffin in the room by the moonlight.

The room exuded a chilling, bone-deep cold. Yun Jiao gritted her teeth and gently stepped over the threshold.

“Prince?” she called softly.

Silence answered her.

Yun Jiao breathed a sigh of relief, tiptoed lightly past the ice coffin, and headed toward the bed inside.

Just as she reached the bed, she froze.

On the bed of a prince of such stature, there was only a thin sheet spread…

Her plans dashed, Yun Jiao’s footsteps halted where she stood, unmoving for a long while.Behind her, Yan Shi in the ice coffin relaxed his brows even more, the curve at the corner of his mouth lifting slightly as he leisurely counted down in his mind.

Three.

Two.

A faint rustling sound arose. Yun Jiao shifted the direction of her toes, and even with his eyes closed, Yan Shi could sense the gaze fixed upon him.

Yun Jiao called out to him softly once more. After confirming that Yan Shi showed no movement, she crawled into the ice coffin using both her hands and feet.

Lying on him was far better than lying on the hard wooden bed.

Since he was lying in the ice coffin, his body must be extremely warm—perfect for her, as she was always cold.

Yun Jiao held her breath, carefully slowing her movements as she climbed in. Just as she settled on top of him, a low chuckle sounded from beneath her.

A warmth enveloped her waist as a force pressed down on her restrained lower back. In the next moment, she was lying atop Yan Shi.

Yun Jiao abruptly lifted her head. Under the sparse moonlight, she met a pair of beautiful, smiling eyes.

“Looking for This Prince?”

Yan Shi’s voice was low and husky, his gaze half-lidded as he looked at her.

Too close.

So close that the slightest movement would bring their noses together. Yun Jiao’s heartbeat skipped a beat as she murmured blankly, “Yes.”

She looked utterly startled, still not fully recovered.

Yan Shi’s chest rose and fell twice as he chuckled softly, his tone lazy. “What did you come to This Prince for?”

His broad hand trailed downward, brushing past the exposed half of Yun Jiao’s calf, gliding over her smooth skin, unconsciously caressing it.

A misbehaving fawn must be punished.

Yun Jiao’s heart instantly leaped to her throat, alarm bells ringing in her mind.

Noticing her distraction, Yan Shi paused his hand. Unbothered by her silence, he continued on his own, “Looking for This Prince to sleep?”

Yan Shi’s hand was as warm as Yun Jiao had imagined, yet she inexplicably felt a chill on the top of her foot.

After a brief pause, his hand moved upward, exploring her ankle.

Yun Jiao’s pupils widened slightly as something flashed through her mind. Without a second thought, she swiftly grabbed his hand and pressed it back against her lower back.

For a moment, Yan Shi looked taken aback, then burst into laughter, chuckling for a while before gradually calming down.

Ah… she had discovered his intention to break her leg.

Yun Jiao’s suspended heart finally settled. Had she been any later, her foot might have been twisted off by him!

He truly was too unpredictable.

“Prince, how is your health? I’m so worried about you,” Yun Jiao hurriedly changed the subject, giving him no chance to act out.

“Not well,” Yan Shi replied somewhat absentmindedly.

The person on top of him was wrapped in a thin sheet, which he found rather bothersome. He wanted to touch her skin, not embrace a piece of tattered cloth.

“You really frightened me earlier, Prince.”

“Prince, you mustn’t scare me like that again.”

Yun Jiao wasn’t just placating him. After spitting out that mouthful of blood, he had to be supported just to walk—she had been genuinely terrified.

What if they falsely accused her of harming him? She feared that even with a hundred mouths, she wouldn’t be able to explain herself. She was also afraid of suddenly becoming a widow, and even more afraid of being forced to accompany him in death without a chance to plead her case.

The more Yun Jiao thought about it, the more uneasy she felt. “Prince, let’s find a physician to examine you tomorrow, alright?”

Yun Jiao rambled on, but Yan Shi didn’t hear a single word. Staring at the “tattered cloth” covering her, he pondered for two seconds before sliding his hand beneath the sheet along her calf.

His warm palm glided over a gentle curve before settling on the small of her back.

The person on top of him suddenly fell silent, disbelief written across her face. Before she could even think to evade, his palm pressed directly against the skin of her waist.Yan Shi seemed to see through her thoughts, his eyes curving as he said, “Keep moving and I’ll break your waist too.”

Yun Jiao trembled, pressing her head against his chest and tightly wrapping her arms around his, guarding against any sudden movements or force from him.

If this continued, she truly didn’t know what other impulsive, wild ideas he might come up with.

So, Yun Jiao decided to go all the way—

“I’m going to sleep, Prince!”

After saying this, Yun Jiao closed her eyes and turned her head away from him.

Sure enough, Yan Shi fell silent, but only for a moment.

A moment later.

He murmured softly in confusion, “Sleep with This Prince?”
