The Magic Council’s Army is Here!
15: Chapter 15: Run!
The Magic Council’s Army is Here!
Since Natsu had eaten a massive feast to his heart’s content, he naturally didn’t have the heart to abandon this little cat.
Even though he had completely swept clean the contents of the Duke’s mansion’s food storage without leaving a single crumb, he was determined to catch a fish for Happy on the way home.
“Pinky promise!” Happy, finally getting reassurance, immediately held out his tiny paw without hesitation.
Natsu hooked his pinky finger with the cat’s paw while holding back a laugh.
For the sake of eating fish, this cat was even willing to throw away his pride and beg on the floor earlier.
The battle in the hall was over.
Virgo stared at Lucy, who had just picked up her key, in silence.
Currently, she was still bound by contract as the Celestial Spirit of that unfortunate Duke.
As a loyal Celestial Spirit, she wouldn’t betray her master just like that.
Lucy examined the Zodiac Key closely.
“So, you are the Celestial Spirit of the Maiden Constellation, Virgo!” She gripped the key and walked up to the giant maid.
“That noble is truly a disgusting, perverted man.
You should find a master who is far more worthy of you!” Lucy loved reading and writing.
While searching for their mission target in the mansion’s library earlier, she had skimmed through a few books.
As it turned out, many of them were the works of authors threatened and forced by the Duke, and their contents were nothing more than unreadable, perverted trash.
As a Celestial Spirit wizard, Lucy always hoped that every Celestial Spirit could be in a healthy environment and cherished by their masters.
Virgo stared at Lucy for a moment, then shifted her gaze to Taurus.
She took back her key, then excused herself while carrying the half-charred body of her master.
That damn Duke wasn’t dead yet, and in the middle of a battlefield like this, she couldn’t just leave her master lying around.
Lucy stretched her body in satisfaction.
“All done!” However, remembering something, she suddenly panicked and screamed, “Ah!!
We haven’t found the mission target book yet!” “Too late!” Natsu suddenly darted in from the side, grabbed Lucy’s hand, and immediately dragged her away, running as fast as he could.
“Eh, what’s wrong?!” Lucy asked in confusion.
Natsu turned his head and gave her a wide, innocent smile.
“The Magic Council’s army is here!” Lucy instantly understood and immediately quickened her pace to keep up with Natsu.
The destructive power of Fairy Tail members was already widely known—even blacklisted—by the Magic Council.
A grand mansion belonging to a Duke had just been leveled to the ground by Natsu.
If they were caught at the scene, the Magic Council wouldn’t care that Lucy had only just joined Fairy Tail; they would definitely throw her straight into prison.
As long as they weren’t part of a Dark Guild, no sane wizard wanted to deal with the Magic Council.
“What a shame!
Our mission failed,” Lucy complained in a dejected tone after they had run quite a distance.
“Look what I brought!” Happy suddenly flew up from behind, hugging a thick book with both of his paws.
“Daybreak!” Seeing the title on the cover, Lucy’s face instantly lit up.
She and Happy had searched everywhere but couldn’t find it, yet it turned out Natsu was the one who managed to find it.
This young man really was her ideal guy!
He always brought her luck in times of crisis.
“Natsu!
Thank you!” Natsu, who was still running in front, turned his head and replied with a bright smile that successfully made Lucy’s heart skip a beat.
After successfully escaping the Council Army’s encirclement, Lucy stopped for a moment to read the book.
As a writer and a bookworm, she could immediately notice the hidden message behind the arrangement of the words inside.
Regarding the mission reward, Natsu ultimately decided to refuse the money.
The book was apparently the manifestation of a father’s love for his son, a reason more than enough for Natsu to let go of the reward money.
Both in his past life and his current life, he had never felt that kind of parental love.
No matter how crazy his behavior was, or how massive the chaos he often created, Natsu deeply respected that kind of emotional bond.
Moreover, their client turned out to have fallen into poverty.
Let alone promising a reward multiplied by ten, they didn’t even have the 200,000 Jewels from the initial agreement.
Even if they sold all their family’s belongings, they wouldn’t be able to gather that much money.
So, letting go of this mission’s reward wasn’t a big deal.
Besides, both he and Lucy had gained huge benefits from this mission.
The food supply in the Duke’s mansion managed to keep Natsu’s stomach full for two days straight.
Even though his appetite remained crazy, he was at least free from the tormenting hunger that drained his energy.
The nutritional value of the food he swallowed in that mansion clearly far exceeded the price of 2 million Jewels!
On the other hand, Lucy had also managed to obtain a Celestial Spirit Key.
Not long after their group left the Duke’s mansion, somehow, Virgo managed to track them down and voluntarily handed her key over to Lucy to form a contract.
A Golden Key of the 12 Zodiacs was clearly far more valuable than any mission reward.
Growwwl!
Hearing that pitiful stomach growl, Lucy looked up at the sky with an expression close to tears.
She screamed in despair, “Natsu!
Exactly how much food does it take to get that stomach of yours full?!” Staggering and dragging his feet, Natsu’s vision was already swimming from hunger, to the point that he completely ignored the girl’s screams.
Barely six days had passed, but all the food from the Duke’s mansion had apparently been completely digested.
Even the wild animals they hunted along the way home couldn’t satisfy his dragon stomach in the slightest.
Growwwl!
The sound echoed again, making Natsu’s face turn even paler.
“Natsu!
Hang in there!” Happy was at his wit’s end trying to comfort Natsu.
The young man looked so starved that Happy had no idea how his friend had managed to hold on this long.
“Open!
Gate of the Golden Bull, Taurus!” Lucy finally gave up and summoned Taurus.
Only this perverted cow was willing to accept her summon at any time.
Yes, only Taurus—whose head was filled with nothing but muscles and women—was willing to unconditionally follow Lucy’s order to carry this starving, slacker Natsu all the way home!
