The moment Shen Qingyao stepped outside, she spotted a wooden chest. Her eyes immediately lit up.
It was here!
The beginner’s gift pack!
Cautiously, she picked up a stone from beside her feet and opened the chest with her other hand.
Fortunately, the advanced civilization had not gone that far. There were no traps in the first chest.
Shen Qingyao obtained:
Hoe ×1, Bread ×2, Wood ×5, Stone ×3, Water ×3
Her luck couldn’t be considered bad. After all, she had food, water, and even tools!
When she saw the bread and clean water, she couldn’t resist any longer and immediately began eating.
The rich aroma of wheat and milk filled her nose, and before she realized it, tears were already streaming down her face.
How long had it been?
How long had it been since she had eaten normal food?
The last time she had eaten something like this was probably when her parents were still alive.
She wiped away her tears. She had only eaten half a piece of bread and taken two sips of water before she forced herself to stop.
She didn’t know when she would obtain food again, so she couldn’t waste even a little!
Half a loaf of bread was enough to last her a day!
Picking up the hoe, she surveyed her surroundings.
At present, her territory only extended ten meters around the wooden cabin. In other words, once she went beyond that range, her safety could no longer be guaranteed!
But the river was at least five hundred meters away from her cabin!
That meant that, for the time being, she had no way to obtain a water source.
Unless she was willing to risk the danger and rush over there to collect water!
Her most urgent task now was to reclaim a piece of land.
She had a planting system. Naturally, she didn’t need to hunt like everyone else. As long as she planted crops, she could obtain resources!
She picked up the hoe and began clearing the land in front of the cabin.
With the first swing of her hoe—
“Ding! Congratulations, Host! You have obtained Stone ×1!”
Shen Qingyao put away the stone and curiously asked the system,
“System, will the stones I obtain also materialize on Blue Star?”
The system seemed speechless for a long while before finally replying,
“Host, only the portion you sell to the system can be returned to the Blue Star world!”
Sell it to the system, and the system would return it ten thousandfold?
Was there really such a good deal?
Why didn’t she believe it?
“System, so… is the advanced civilization helping us for free?”
Shen Qingyao naturally wouldn’t openly express her doubts. Instead, she asked in a voice that sounded as though she were deeply moved.
After all, the system itself was a product of the advanced civilization. She couldn’t openly display her suspicions.
Sure enough, the system did not become suspicious.
“Host, the Sunken Realm Civilization is a friendly civilization. We have come to help Blue Star in the spirit of humanitarianism! The resources returned to Blue Star are indeed provided out of our own pockets!”
Shen Qingyao obviously didn’t believe it, but the system didn’t seem willing to say anything more. Or perhaps it simply didn’t know anything else.
She stopped asking and continued reclaiming the land.
“Ding! Congratulations, Host! You have obtained Stone ×1!”
“Ding! Congratulations, Host! You have obtained Dry Grass ×1!”
“Ding! Congratulations, Host! You have obtained Wood ×5!”
“Ding! Congratulations, Host! You have obtained Adzuki Bean Seeds ×79!”
Adzuki bean seeds?
Of course!
Adzuki beans grew wild in the first place!
It wasn’t strange at all for adzuki bean seeds to appear!
So, was reclaiming land the way to obtain seeds?
Her heart sank. This method of obtaining them was far too random!
It was entirely possible that she could clear a whole plot of land without obtaining a single seed!
Still, adzuki beans were legumes, and legumes really were the most suitable crops to plant after first reclaiming wasteland.
She carefully stored the seeds in the system inventory and continued clearing the land.
Fortunately, her luck wasn’t bad. She soon dug up some huìhuìcài seeds as well!
“Ding! Congratulations, Host! You have obtained Huìhuìcài Seeds ×107!”
Huìhuìcài matured very quickly. If she planted them, she would soon have vegetables to eat—
No, wild vegetables.
By the time the sun reached its highest point, she finally dragged her exhausted body back toward the wooden cabin.
Her body was still far too weak. Half a piece of bread simply wasn’t enough to sustain such prolonged exertion!
Fortunately, she had already planted the adzuki beans!
In order to plant them, she had poured all of her drinking water onto the field.
That afternoon, she would have to go to the river and see if she could bring some water back.
She had observed the area earlier. There were some small animals around the river, but she hadn’t seen any large beasts. Perhaps she could even obtain some meat!
After all, the crops in her field wouldn’t be ready anytime soon. She couldn’t possibly survive the next few days on the remaining loaf and a half of bread!
After returning to the cabin, she collapsed onto the bed and fell asleep.
When she woke up, she discovered that it was already past three in the afternoon!
She had slept for nearly four hours!
Clutching her growling stomach, she calmly tightened her waistband.
Then, carrying her stone axe and the two empty bottles left over from watering the crops that morning, she calmly headed toward the river.
She vigilantly watched her surroundings, ready to retreat into her territory the moment anything unusual happened.
The riverbank was relatively quiet. The muddy shore beneath her feet was covered with tracks from small animals, but so far, she had not seen any traces of large beasts.
On the way, she spotted a frog. Instinctively, she raised her axe and swung it at the creature.
But before she could hit it, an enormous force suddenly slammed into her, knocking her off her feet and sending her crashing onto the riverbank.
She spat out a mouthful of blood!
Shen Qingyao couldn’t believe it.
A single frog had actually seriously injured her!
The frog croaked as it hopped away.
It took Shen Qingyao a long time to recover. Only then did she clutch her chest and painfully struggle back to her feet.
Fortunately, nothing was broken!
It seemed she had been too naive.
In this otherworldly land, even small animals could not be underestimated!
For the rest of the journey, she became even more vigilant.
She no longer dared to casually confront any living creature!
The river looked close, but it still took her nearly five minutes to reach it.
Clear river water flowed over the pebbles, and she could vaguely see small fish and shrimp swimming within it.
Shen Qingyao didn’t hesitate. She first lightly touched the water with her fingers. After confirming that there seemed to be nothing wrong with it, she quickly washed her face.
The cold water jolted her awake, finally restoring some clarity to her mind!
Only then did she fill her two bottles with water.
After storing the water in her inventory, she turned around and spotted several clumps of pampas grass growing along the riverbank. Her eyes immediately lit up, and she hurried over to pull them out.
Pampas grass was good stuff. Its leaves could be woven into things, and its roots were edible!
Fortunately, she had the system inventory, so she didn’t need to drag everything back herself. Otherwise, with her battered body, she might have exhausted herself to death halfway home.
She wondered if the other people also had a system inventory.
Only when Shen Qingyao stepped back into the boundaries of the wooden cabin did she finally let out a sigh of relief.
Wonderful!
She had returned safely!
Her legs gave out, and she collapsed weakly onto the ground. After taking several deep breaths, she slowly forced herself back up and walked into the wooden cabin.
Lying on her crude wooden bed, her eyes shone with an astonishing brightness!
Surviving on this desolate planet in another world might be difficult, but there was hope of staying alive!
That day, she had seen land that could be cultivated, obtained seeds, encountered living creatures like frogs, fish, and shrimp, and even gathered edible pampas grass!
All of these were hope!
Hope for surviving on this desolate planet!
And how fortunate was she? She even had a safe zone and a small wooden cabin to shelter her from the wind and rain!
