After a long while, the wolf pack finally arrived.
Shen Qingyao counted carefully.
There were more than ninety wolves!
With her current strength, encountering even a single one would mean certain death!
“Awoo!”
Perhaps the wolves had stepped into her traps, because miserable howls suddenly rang out one after another.
Shen Qingyao stared fixedly toward the river, afraid of missing anything.
She saw the enraged wolf pack tear apart every single one of her traps!
Then they howled furiously at her house!
Shen Qingyao’s heart tightened.
They had discovered her!
They had simply been pretending not to notice her before!
Wolves really were cunning!
She had no idea how long they continued howling before they finally left.
Shen Qingyao rubbed her numb legs and asked,
“System, can the wolf pack break into my house?”
The system replied in its usual rigid tone:
“A Level 3 Shelter can block all damage below the Spirit tier!”
Shen Qingyao’s heart stirred.
Based on her estimate, the Azure Wolves were Rank 6 Mortal-tier beasts. In other words, her house could completely withstand the wolf pack!
“What about the farmland outside?”
Wolves were extremely vindictive animals. What if they came to destroy her farmland?
What would she do then?
“Host, within the safe zone, the host’s personal safety can be guaranteed. The safety of the farmland is not included!”
Just as she thought!
Now Shen Qingyao understood!
“Then how can I increase the security level of my farmland?”
The system answered:
“It can be enhanced using items. Please explore on your own!”
“Items?”
She didn’t have anything like that in her possession.
Could there be something on the trading market?
After searching around, she really did find a Basic Fence Blueprint!
“Basic Fence: Provides a small degree of protection and can defend against enemy intrusion!”
The Wild Planet Survival Game seemed to have no precise numerical statistics beyond the ranks of animals and plants.
Whenever the system described something, the data was always vague.
This time was no different.
She had no idea exactly how much protection “a small degree” provided!
The blueprint required a weapon in exchange.
She didn’t have any spare weapons, but that wasn’t a problem. She first exchanged some food for a stone axe, then used it to purchase the blueprint.
Her stamina had also recovered by now, so she immediately crafted twenty fences.
Each one required only two pieces of wood and one iron ingot.
Since the system said her personal safety was guaranteed within the safe zone, she boldly went outside and began installing fences around the perimeter of the safe zone.
As for the portion of farmland outside the safe zone, she tried enclosing it with fences as well.
The system immediately notified her:
“Ding! Congratulations, host! The range of your safe zone has expanded!”
She covered her mouth in surprise.
She could actually define the boundaries of her safe zone using fences!
Then what was she waiting for?
She absolutely had to fence off a path from her house all the way to the river!
As she walked, she continued placing fences.
When she reached the area where the traps were located, she was shocked to see a wolf corpse lying on the ground!
And it was a complete wolf corpse!
She hurriedly looked around.
Only after confirming that there really were no ferocious beasts nearby did she immediately run to the trap, quickly store the wolf corpse in her warehouse, and then sprint back toward her house!
“Awooo—”
That damned wolf pack actually appeared!
They had really been waiting to ambush her!
Shen Qingyao was terrified!
She immediately turned and ran!
Fortunately, the wolves were still some distance away. The area was wide and open, with nowhere to hide, so the wolves had actually concealed themselves behind the house!
In other words, as long as she was fast enough—
She could escape from the wolves’ jaws!
“How can this be?!”
Shen Qingyao suddenly felt a tremendous pressure weighing down on her!
Her legs became so heavy that she could barely move!
It was over!
If she couldn’t get back in time, she would definitely die!
She could already see the wolf pack rushing toward her!
Their bloody mouths were filled with sharp, yellowed fangs, saliva dripping from their jaws!
I’m going to die!
She thought in despair.
She reached out and placed the last fence she had reserved!
Maybe it would work?
A wolf still bit down on her arm, tearing off a large chunk of flesh!
But then—
White light flashed from the fence, and the wolves were blocked outside!
“Bang! Bang! Bang!”
The wolf pack repeatedly slammed into the fence, but it didn’t budge in the slightest!
Shen Qingyao collapsed to the ground in terror, clutching her heavily bleeding arm.
She had survived!
Shen Qingyao crawled and scrambled back to the house and bolted the door.
Outside, the wolf pack howled like ghosts and demons.
But inside, tears streamed down her face as she smiled.
She had survived a disaster.
She had truly survived a disaster!
Now she understood.
Her farming game was absolutely not some peaceful life of tranquil days.
Danger was everywhere!
She had to become stronger!
She would keep this wolf meat for herself!
Improving her own strength was the most important thing right now!
Besides, she had a warehouse, so the meat could stay fresh for a long time without spoiling.
She immediately took out a hemostatic bandage from her warehouse and wrapped her wound.
Unfortunately, she had no other medicine for injuries, and she didn’t know whether the trading market had any.
But she had already lost too much blood.
She couldn’t hold on any longer.
She fainted on the spot.
Day Four of the Wasteland Survival Game.
When Shen Qingyao woke up again, it was already dawn.
She slowly opened her eyes.
“Ding! The three-day beginner protection period of the Wasteland Survival Game has ended! Daily treasure chests will no longer refresh! The shelter’s absolute defense function has disappeared! Survivors, please explore the game content on your own!”
So it turned out that the shelter’s absolute defense function was what had truly saved her?
Then if the wolf pack came back for revenge tonight, how was she supposed to defend herself?
She touched her injured arm and discovered that the wound had already scabbed over!
Was it because her physical condition had improved, or were the hemostatic bandages really that miraculous?
She opened the system and discovered that the public channel had already erupted into chaos:
“It’s over! It’s over! I only have a campfire! Without any defenses, how am I supposed to survive tonight?”
“Help! There’s a shark right next to my raft! The raft is about to fall apart!”
“I-I… Can anyone save me? I’m willing to give anything! As long as you can save me!”
“Person above, stop dreaming! Everyone can barely save themselves!”
“Buying wood! Buying stone!”
“Same here! I’ll pay a high price!”
Huh?
Wood and stone were suddenly in high demand today?
Was everyone rushing to upgrade their shelters?
Then she would have to pick up some later.
Wang Guodong also sent her a message:
“I’m fine now. Thanks for the bandage!”
Shen Qingyao was starting to regret it a little. Such a good bandage, and she had traded it away for just one piece of meat!
She replied:
“We’re all from the same country, so helping each other is only natural. I can grow vegetables here, so I won’t be lacking vegetables. I also have plenty of stone and water. If you need any, you can trade with me! What I need here is meat!”
After saying that, she forced herself to get up and ate the bear paw!
She had already put it in the pot to stew yesterday. After simmering all night, it was now perfectly tender!
There were no other seasonings. She had only added one packet of instant noodle seasoning, but the aroma alone was already intoxicating!
After finishing the bear paw, she finally felt her body recover!
“Ding! It has been detected that the host has consumed a Mortal-Tier, Grade 7 bear paw. Physical attributes have increased slightly. Please keep up the good work!”
Feeling the strength returning to her body, she stretched lazily.
Then, she walked out of the room.
