Los Angeles nights never lacked for heartbeat, especially in certain abandoned industrial zones and dockside areas known only to a select few.

When Mia’s meticulously tuned 240SX rolled into a gathering near the pier, the wave of sound hit them like a physical force: thumping music, roaring crowds, and the thunderous revving of high-displacement engines.

“This is it.” Mia parked on the periphery and killed the engine.Full novel: Fast & Furious: I Tuned Dom’s Charger and Stole His Sister — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

She turned to Jake, her eyes sparkling with excitement like stars against the night sky.

“Every Friday night, as long as it doesn’t rain, this place is packed.” Jake looked out the window.

Before him stretched a makeshift race track formed by abandoned shipping containers and concrete.

Neon lights and underglow kits painted the scene in garish colors.

People of all stripes crowded the area: scantily clad girls, heavily tattooed drivers, screaming spectators.

The air carried the acrid bite of burning rubber, exhaust fumes, and raw adrenaline.

This was a world outside normal rules.

An illegal kingdom built on speed and passion.

“Very…

energetic,” Jake commented.

He’d only ever seen scenes like this in movies.

Experiencing it firsthand, the raw, primal energy was overwhelming.

“Come on.

Let me show you around.” Mia smiled, pushing open her door with practiced ease.

Jake followed her into the crowd.

Mia was clearly a familiar face here.

People greeted her as “Miss Toretto,” their voices carrying respect.

When they noticed the calm, quiet stranger beside her, curious and appraising looks followed.

“Who’s that?

Mia’s new guy?” “Never seen him.

Not from around here.” “He looks steady.

Not like those flies buzzing around Mia.” The whispers drifted past.

Jake ignored them, walking calmly beside Mia, his gaze coolly surveying the environment, the cars, the crowd.

He spotted Jesse, animatedly gesturing around a Honda S2000.

He saw Vince leaning against a muscle car, flirting with an attractive girl.

When Vince spotted Mia and Jake, he raised his beer in a toast, his eyes still carrying that assessment.

But the center of attention, without question, was the black Dodge Charger parked in the middle of the track like a dark king.

Dominic Toretto leaned against the door, wearing a black tank top that showed off his powerful build.

His expression was the usual mix of cool authority and utter control.

Letty stood beside him, equally commanding in black leather.

Mia walked straight toward her brother.

“Dom!

Letty!” she called out.

Dom’s gaze swept over them, pausing briefly on his sister before landing on Jake beside her.

The weight of that look was palpable, a tangible pressure.

Letty offered Jake a somewhat friendlier smile.

“Jake.

You came.” Dom’s voice was low, unreadable.

“Mr.

Toretto.

Letty.” Jake nodded, neither submissive nor confrontational.

“I brought him,” Mia said, slipping her arm through Jake’s with casual ease, as if she’d done it a hundred times.

“Thought I’d show him what real street speed looks like.” Jake felt it.

The moment Mia linked her arm through his, Dom’s gaze flickered, just barely, before returning to neutral.

But the pressure seemed to intensify, if only slightly.

Letty’s eyebrow arched, her smile growing more knowing.

“Welcome.” Dom offered only that single word before turning his attention back to the track, as if dismissing Jake’s presence entirely.

But Jake knew.

The protective older brother’s radar had locked onto him.

Just then, a slightly hesitant but energetic engine note approached.

The green Mitsubishi Eclipse RS pushed through the crowd and parked.

Brian O’Conner jumped out, dressed in a clean polo shirt, his face a mix of first-time excitement and nervous energy.

“Hey, everyone!” Brian called out, his gaze quickly scanning the key figures before lingering an extra moment on Dom and Jake.

Dom gave him a brief, indifferent glance.

Vince snorted openly.

“Kid, this isn’t a kindergarten track.” Brian’s smile stiffened for a moment, but he recovered quickly, positioning himself near Mia and Jake.

“Mr.

Reynolds.

You’re here too?

Small world.” Brian attempted to engage, his eyes flickering to Mia’s arm linked through Jake’s, a flicker of surprise crossing his face.

“Mm.” Jake offered a minimal response.

He wanted to keep his distance from the undercover agent.

Mia gave Brian a polite nod, her attention quickly drawn to the upcoming race.

The first match was between two Japanese performance cars.

The moment the starting light went out, tires spun wildly, white smoke billowing.

The screech of rubber and the scream of engines tore through the night.

Both cars shot forward like arrows, their taillights tracing red arcs through the darkness.

The crowd erupted.

Mia pumped her fist, her body vibrating with the engine’s rhythm.

She leaned closer to Jake, shouting commentary in his ear about the drivers’ techniques and the cars’ strengths and weaknesses.

Her warm breath tickled his ear.

Jake could smell the faint perfume in Mia’s hair, feel the warmth of her arm against his.

In this wild, chaotic environment, the intimacy felt electric.

He didn’t pull away.

Instead, he shifted slightly, making it easier for her to lean on him.

What he didn’t notice was Dominic’s gaze.

Though Dom’s eyes were fixed on the track, his peripheral vision remained locked on his sister and the quiet stranger standing too close.

He took a long pull from his beer bottle, his jaw tight, his eyes unreadable.

The first race ended.

The winner pumped his fist in victory, the loser slunk away.

The air was thick with smoke and excitement.

Vince sidled up to Dom, lowering his voice with a hint of provocation.

“Hey, Dom.

See that?

Mia and that guy…

looks like it’s not just about tuning cars anymore.” Dom didn’t answer.

The faint creak of the beer bottle in his grip spoke volumes.

His gaze fixed on Jake, who was bent low, listening to something Mia was saying.

For the first time, genuine displeasure flickered across his face.

The territorial instinct of a protective older brother.

“Uh…

why does my back suddenly feel cold?” As if sensing something, Jake looked up.

His eyes met Dom’s, sharp and piercing even under the neon lights.

The atmosphere, already charged with music and noise, grew subtly, dangerously tense.
