Gu Yi’an slowly stood up after hanging up the phone with Jing Si.
At this time, the person at the door also walked in.
“Anan.” Lu Moran’s expression looked very tired, with large dark circles, clearly showing he hadn’t rested well.
“Sorry, I’m at work,” Gu Yi’an said lightly.
Lu Moran remained silent for a moment before saying, “Anan, did you…
did you really get married?”
This question had been troubling him since yesterday.
After he came back, he specifically inquired from various channels and found out that Gu Yi’an wasn’t married and hadn’t even had a boyfriend in all these years.
Gu Yi’an’s hand trembled slightly, then she slowly smiled and said, “Hmm, it’s time to get married.”
“Why?” There was a trace of pain in Lu Moran’s eyes, and the emotion was so intense that it almost became tangible.
Gu Yi’an gave a silent, incredulous laugh, looking at Lu Moran, “You’re asking me why?
Marriage?
Isn’t it obvious?”
“You don’t love him!” Lu Moran’s breathing became a little rapid.
Gu Yi’an chuckled softly, “Does love or not love matter that much?”
Lu Moran’s lips pressed tightly together, forming a straight line.
The girl who once believed in love more than anything now told him that love didn’t matter that much?
“Anan, I…”
“Doctor Gu, the director is here,” Xiao Wei called from the door, looking at Lu Moran curiously.
Gu Yi’an responded, “Coming.”
Then, she looked at Lu Moran again, “I have to work now.”
“Anan, can you give me some time to talk?” Lu Moran hurriedly asked again.
Gu Yi’an smiled, “Talk about what?
The past?
It’s over, and I don’t want to know anymore.
That’s it, goodbye.”
With that, Gu Yi’an stopped looking at Lu Moran and walked out directly.
In the corridor, Director Wu came with a young girl, smiling.
Seeing Gu Yi’an, he immediately introduced her to the girl with a smile, “Nan’an, this is Doctor Gu.
You will follow her from now on.
Doctor Gu, this is Xiao Nan, a top graduate from City B Medical University.
She interned at B University Affiliated Hospital for six months and will continue her internship at our hospital now.”
“Have you obtained your medical license?” Gu Yi’an asked.
Xiao Nan smiled, “I am preparing to take the exam at the end of this year, and I can get it at the beginning of next year.”
Gu Yi’an frowned, “Director, she hasn’t obtained her medical license yet and hasn’t even completed her first year of internship.
Is it appropriate to let her work in the emergency room?”
The emergency room is different from other departments.
It deals with unexpected emergencies, and improper handling could directly lead to fatalities.
Letting a fresh graduate intern here…
Is the director out of his mind?
“Doctor Gu, I requested to be in the emergency room myself.
Also, I’ve heard of your reputation and believe I can gain more experience here.
Please guide me, Doctor Gu,” Xiao Nan said with a cheerful smile, showing her lively and outgoing nature.
In life, Gu Yi’an liked this kind of personality, but not in work.
Director Wu nodded, “Young people should be ambitious.
Give Nan’an a chance.
Besides, with Doctor Gu here, I’m assured.”
Understanding it was another case of nepotism and connections, Gu Yi’an didn’t say much, just nodded, “Doctor Xiao, the emergency room is different from other departments.
The work is intense, and you must be diligent, meticulous, and brave.
For now, just observe and don’t intervene, can you do that?”
Xiao Nan smiled sweetly, “Doctor Gu, rest assured, I will follow your instructions closely.”
This attitude displeased Gu Yi’an, though it wasn’t necessary for her to like it.
Seeing things were going well, Director Wu said, “Doctor Gu, I’ll leave Nan’an to you.
Guide her well.”
Gu Yi’an nodded, and Director Wu left with a smile.
“Doctor Gu, may I call you sister Gu?
It feels closer that way,” Xiao Nan said familiarly.
Gu Yi’an’s expression remained indifferent, “Sorry, our place is different from other units.
Please call me Doctor Gu here.”
Xiao Nan’s expression stiffened slightly but soon smiled, “Can I call you sister Gu in private, then?”
Gu Yi’an smiled, “Doctor Xiao, how old are you this year?”
Xiao Nan was stunned and then smiled, “24 years old.
What about you, sister Gu?”
“I’m not yet 23 years old,” Gu Yi’an said faintly.
“Ah?” Xiao Nan was surprised, “Doctor Gu, you’re so young.
I heard you graduated with a master’s degree.
How can you be not yet 23?
Are you joking?”
“I never joke,” Gu Yi’an said, “Alright, go around or review some cases.”
Finishing her words, Gu Yi’an walked towards the duty room.
Xiao Nan followed, “Doctor Gu, you’re really amazing, a genius to graduate with a master’s degree so young.
I heard you’re up for the attending physician review this year.
With your qualifications and abilities, it should be a sure thing, right!”
Gu Yi’an suddenly stopped, and Xiao Nan almost bumped into her, quickly asking, “What’s wrong, Doctor Gu?”
Gu Yi’an turned her head to Xiao Nan, “Doctor Xiao, during work hours, I hope we can avoid personal topics.”
“Oh, okay, but Doctor Gu, I just arrived.
I want to treat the department to dinner tonight.
Can you join us, Doctor Gu?”
“Sorry, I have an appointment with a friend.”
Perhaps Gu Yi’an’s expression was too cold, Xiao Nan immediately felt aggrieved, pouting, “Doctor Gu, do you dislike me?”
Gu Yi’an truly felt exhausted.
She took a deep breath, about to say something, when Xiao Wei suddenly rushed over, “Doctor Gu, a man in his thirties accidentally fell from about two meters high.
It was at a construction site and he landed on a stone, unable to move.
The ambulance has already brought him over, arriving in about five minutes.”
Gu Yi’an immediately got into work mode, saying seriously, “Prepare to receive the patient immediately…”
Xiao Nan also forgot about crying and quickly asked excitedly, “Is there a patient?
Falling from just two meters high shouldn’t be a big deal, right?”
Seeing Xiao Nan’s reaction, Gu Yi’an frowned again, “Doctor Xiao, please control your emotions.
The patient’s family will be very upset.
If they see this, it could cause conflicts.”
Xiao Nan immediately stuck out her tongue, “Oh.”
Gu Yi’an didn’t pay attention to Xiao Nan anymore, as the ambulance sirens began to wail…
