Seeing the comments flooding the club’s official Twitter, all of them praising him, Leo kept his face carefully neutral.
Inside, he was absolutely buzzing.
This one says I’m good-looking.
Good taste.
This one says my skills are top-tier.
Knows the game.
Keep them coming.
I love it.
As Leo scrolled through the comments with a deeply satisfied inner grin, Mahrez leaned over and offered a suggestion.
“Leo, you should make an account.
Then you can reply to them yourself.” Leo’s eyebrows shot up.
He nodded immediately.
“Great idea.” Setting up the account was quick and painless.
Leo chose his name in all caps, “LEO HALE,” as his Twitter handle.
Then he picked a ridiculously handsome selfie for his profile picture.
Ten minutes later, Leo had his very own Twitter account.
Under Mahrez’s guidance, he followed Leicester City’s official account first, then Mahrez, Vardy, Morgan, and the rest of his first-team teammates.
After a moment’s thought, he also followed Lineker, the Leicester City legend who had left that comment on the club’s official feed.
Since you can’t DM someone on Twitter unless you follow each other, Leo had to reply directly to Lineker’s comment on the club’s post to thank him.
“Thanks for the kind words.
I’ll keep working hard!” A very standard, official reply.
But considering he and Lineker had never met, keeping it cool and composed felt about right.
After replying to Lineker, Leo followed Mahrez’s next bit of advice.
He uploaded a photo of the two of them giving a thumbs up and posted his first tweet.
The caption read: “Chilling with my guy!” He opened his notifications tab and saw the numbers climbing fast.
“People are replying already?
Do these guys live on Twitter?!” Under his first tweet, the likes, retweets, and comments were multiplying right before his eyes.
He opened the comments and saw plenty of people questioning if the account was really him.
“Whoa, is this actually you?!” “Real deal or a fake?” “Looks legit.
You couldn’t post that photo if it wasn’t you.” Since Leo wasn’t a celebrity and didn’t have a blue checkmark, he had to prove it.
He posted another selfie, this time flashing a peace sign, with a new caption.
“Guys, no doubt about it.
This is me!” The moment that second tweet went live, confirming the account’s owner, his follower count went insane.
From a handful, to a few hundred, to a few thousand.
Just half an hour later, his Twitter following had smashed past ten thousand.
The comments section was a flood of love and praise.
“Love you, brother!” “Your performance yesterday was insane!” “Heart emoji!
Heart emoji!” Right then, Leo heard the system’s chime echo inside his head.
[Ding!] [Achievement Unlocked: Social Media Followers Break 10k] [Rating: B] [Reward: Stamina Drink] Leo froze for a second, genuinely surprised.
What?
Hitting ten thousand followers on social media was an achievement?
The thought settled, and it clicked.
So, it wasn’t just on the pitch.
Completing certain achievements off the pitch could earn him rewards too?
Did that mean the ultimate goal of the Green Legend System wasn’t just to forge a legend on the field, but to help him become a massive global superstar off it?
For a footballer, the game is a career.
A job.
But it’s not your whole life.
Thinking about it that way, Leo felt a sense of understanding.
Of course, this was all just a guess.
Whether it was true or not, he would have to find out over time.
“But what exactly is this Stamina Drink?” Curious, Leo pulled up his Character Panel.
He quickly spotted a new Inventory tab at the very bottom.
Inside the inventory sat a small bottle of orange liquid.
It looked a lot like a can of Red Bull.
When he focused his gaze on the drink, an info window popped up.
[Item: Stamina Drink] [Effect: Upon consumption, instantly restores stamina to peak condition!] Seeing the Stamina Drink’s effect, Leo’s eyes lit up.
Holy crap.
That’s insane.
Imagine a crucial knockout match.
Deadlocked.
Neither side can break through.
It goes to extra time.
Then, just as everyone else is running on fumes, he downs the Stamina Drink.
Instantly back to full power, peak condition.
An item like that, used at the right moment, was an absolute trump card.
The kind of thing that decides a match.
Give me a whole case of these.
That was what his heart screamed.
But Leo knew perfectly well that a powerhouse item like the Stamina Drink wasn’t something he could get easily.
For now, growing his social media following seemed to be the only way to earn item rewards.
Maybe there were other ways, but he would have to discover them himself.
It looked like, on top of performing on the pitch, he needed to put in some work off it too.
Closing his Character Panel, a thoughtful Leo glanced over at Mahrez.
If it weren’t for Mahrez, he probably wouldn’t have made a Twitter account and stumbled onto this new channel for achievement rewards.
With that thought, a bright grin spread across Leo’s face.
He threw an arm around Mahrez’s shoulders.
“Riyad, to celebrate my front page, dinner’s on me tonight!” “Uh, can I get lobster and caviar?” “…Don’t push it.” While Leo and Mahrez debated whether to hit a bar after their fancy dinner, the mood in the team’s tactical room was the complete opposite.
Nigel Pearson and the entire Leicester City first-team coaching staff sat in a grim circle.
Every face was dead serious.
After knocking out Premier League Stoke City in the last round of the FA Cup, they had held the draw for the next round.
And the opponent they pulled was a Premier League team.
Chelsea.
That was why everyone looked so miserable.
Out of all the teams that made it to the fourth round, League One sides, Championship sides, why did they have to be this unlucky and draw a Premier League team?
And not just any Premier League team.
Chelsea.
One of the Big Six.
They all suspected the FA official in charge of the draw had forgotten to wash his hands after using the bathroom.
