“Sis, I gоt this kid’s bаckрaсk for yоu.” Sоmеоne threw thе уoung man’s bаg at his feеt.

“Наnd оver thе stuff уourself.”

Lin Kuizhi fell silent, her hands trеmbling.

Hеlр! Shе hаd trаnsmigratеd into a novеl!

Right now! Аt this verу momеnt! Kneeling before her was Chi Yu, the novel’s biggest villain!

Chi Yu, the illegitimate son of the Chi family, had yet to be acknowledged by them. He lived in a small rented apartment with the younger sister he grew up with in the orphanage.

He had been admitted to Jinli High School with outstanding grades and would later be recognized by the Chi family. Through his own abilities, he would seize control of the Chi family’s power, dominate Jing City, rival the male lead, and nearly bring him to his death.

Lin Kuizhi swallowed hard. Were these people trying to get her killed?

Her lackey, seeing her lack of response, foolishly kicked Chi Yu.

“Hurry up and search! Did you steal the bank card or not?”

Lin Kuizhi felt like she was about to faint. Her survival instinct made her shout out.

“He didn’t steal the bank card! I put it in there on purpose! I have no morals and no shame—I actually wanted to frame an innocent person!”

After shouting all that in one breath, the air instantly fell silent, as if frozen. The people around her stared at her in shock.

It took a long moment before someone slowly spoke up.

“Sis Lin… What are you saying?”

“Sis Lin, what’s wrong with you? Isn’t Chi Yu just like his dad? His dad loves stealing people, and he loves stealing money!”

“Yeah, exactly! Sis Lin, what’s gotten into you? He stole from you. Let’s take him to the dean’s office right now and call his dad to see what a little bastard he is!”

Were they trying to push her to her death? What kind of grudge was this?

The noise around her started up again, and someone even rushed forward to grab Chi Yu.

“All of you, shut up!” Lin Kuizhi unleashed her “roaring lioness” skill once more.

Holding her throbbing head, she said, “I already told you I put it there myself. All of you, get lost!”

“And from today on, no one is allowed to bully Chi Yu or insult him. Anyone who disobeys is going against me!”

Everyone was startled by her outburst and exchanged bewildered looks.

What was wrong with this young lady today? She was the one who told them to bring Chi Yu here to humiliate him, so why was she suddenly switching sides and defending him?

Probably having one of her episodes. Rich people always have some mental issues. They shook their heads inwardly and left speechlessly.

The air felt fresher, and the annoying, headache-inducing chatter faded away.

The young man remained kneeling on the ground, silent and unmoving.

“Um… Are you okay?”

No response.

“Maybe… you should get up first?”

“Yes, Miss.”

Chi Yu swayed as he stood up, still keeping his eyes downcast.

Lin Kuizhi’s heart clenched. Her gaze fell on the backpack at her feet. She picked it up, zipped it closed, dusted it off, and handed it to him.

After taking it, Chi Yu remained motionless again.

Only then did Lin Kuizhi remember—in the original story, she was arrogant and domineering. If she said east, Chi Yu wasn’t allowed to go west. If she didn’t say he could leave, he couldn’t leave.

Damn this young lady persona!

“Let’s go, back to class,” she ventured.

“Mm,” Chi Yu replied flatly, following her lead. The cool air from the classroom air conditioner dispelled Chi Yu’s weariness and pain. He sat at his desk, opened the test paper, and began working on the problems with focus.

Time was tight in the final year of high school; he had neither the time nor the luxury to wallow in sorrow.

Lin Kuizhi stared blankly at the back of Chi Yu’s head. While reading the book, she had felt deeply for him—orphaned and left to care for his younger sister alone, while also burdened with his adoptive father’s gambling debts.

The Chi family, in their efforts to reclaim him, had sent his sister abroad as leverage. In the end, they hadn’t even informed him when she fell seriously ill, causing him to miss seeing her one last time.

This marked the beginning of his descent into darkness.

She couldn’t bear to see beauty, strength, and suffering combined. Now that she was here, she would never allow such a tragedy to happen!

Lin Kuizhi silently vowed in her heart.

Wait, but she could hardly protect herself…

Blinded by the antagonist’s beauty and tragic backstory, she had forgotten that she herself was one of the perpetrators of his suffering!

The original Lin Kuizhi was a classic example of a malicious supporting female character: beautiful, wealthy, lacking in intelligence, and obsessed with chasing after others.

The obsession with chasing others was key—a large part of why she bullied Chi Yu was for Gu Chen’s sake.

How foolish you were, original host!

No matter what, even if it was just for her own safety, she had to cling tightly to this lifeline!

The bell rang for the end of class, and the students in the classroom rushed out in a swarm, heading straight for the cafeteria.

It seemed no matter where you were, the speed at which people dashed to the cafeteria was always the fastest.

Seeing Chi Yu sitting there without moving, Lin Kuizhi felt a pang in her heart.

She knew he had no money.

Lin Kuizhi cautiously moved to stand before him. “Chi Yu, come eat with me.”

Chi Yu was enduring hunger; he hadn’t eaten for two days, and his stomach was aching faintly.

Hearing the soft, sweet voice unique to a young girl, he was momentarily stunned, immediately thinking that Lin Kuizhi was about to torment him again.

Rage surged in Chi Yu’s eyes, but he forcibly suppressed it. There was only one year left in high school; he had to endure it.

The two walked side by side into the cafeteria, instantly drawing everyone’s attention.

Lin Kuizhi was already the center of attention wherever she went, let alone now with someone by her side.

She paid no mind to the stares and went straight to the serving window.

“Two portions each of sweet and sour pork ribs, shredded chicken, black pepper steak, and Shanghai greens.”

Chi Yu watched her with an unreadable expression. What was Lin Kuizhi up to? Was she planning to dump the food on his head again?

But after swiping her card, she simply shoved the meal into Chi Yu’s hands. “Help me save a seat.”

At the soup station.

It was time for her to showcase her soup-scooping skills.

Spoon to the bottom, against the wall, slowly lifting up.

Moments later, two bowls of seaweed and egg soup, brimming with ingredients, were ready.

After scanning the area for a moment, she walked over and sat down across from Chi Yu, noticing he had already finished more than half of his meal.

Why did she inexplicably feel a sense of happiness, like she was raising a child!

Seeing her return, Chi Yu tightened his grip on his chopsticks. He didn’t know what Lin Kuizhi was planning, but he was too hungry. Whatever the consequences, he quickly shoveled the food into his mouth.

“Why are you eating so fast? Are you deliberately trying to avoid eating with me?”

Lin Kuizhi’s tone was spoiled and demanding.

She actually wanted to be gentle and soft! But changing too quickly would arouse Chi Yu’s suspicions, and he’d likely resist her even more.

Satisfied to see Chi Yu slow down, she looked at the pile of food in her own bowl and demanded, “I can’t finish all this. Help me eat half.”

Then she added, “I haven’t touched it yet.”

Afraid he might think she was making him eat her leftovers.

“And the soup—I just got it but suddenly don’t want it anymore. You drink it all.”Lin Kuizhi smiled as she rested her chin in her hands.

An annoying voice rang out.

“Hey, Lin Kuizhi, you brought your own dog out to eat today?”

Who had such a foul mouth?

She looked up and saw a guy with dyed yellow hair standing next to a handsome young man, a look of disdain on his face.
