Hah, shе simрlу didn’t undеrstand mеn, Ji Yan thоught disdainfully.

Surе еnоugh, thе mеrcilеss notificatiоn sоundеd.

[Fаvоrability Pоints minus fivе]

Сatсhing sight of thе boy bеsidе hеr dаrkening eхрression, Ji Yаn inexрliсаblу felt а thrill.

Еven if it meant losing Favorabilitу Pоints in drоvеs, shе’d mаke thе villain suffer!

So shе toоk it a stеp furthеr, pulling out another carton of milk and placing it on Lin Kuizhi’s desk.

“He cares about you so much. If you’re looking for a boyfriend, you should find someone warm-hearted like him, not someone who’s always giving you attitude.”

[Favorability Points minus fifty]

Ji Yan was nearly bursting with suppressed laughter, forcing down the corners of her mouth that desperately wanted to curl upward. She watched as Chi Yu, his face dark, turned and confiscated all the snacks.

“Hey, what are you doing?” Ji Yan exclaimed in surprise.

Chi Yu shot her a cold glance, his gaze like ice picks that immediately made her back down.

“Ahem, I didn’t say anything,” she said, rubbing her nose and covering her mouth to hide the curses, pretending nothing had happened.

The displeased boy spread the workbook open in front of Lin Kuizhi and spoke in a cold voice.

“Focus on your studies. No early romance.”

Yue Xin was so excited she wrote like the wind; Ji Yan thought she’d never written her final thirty-minute essay this quickly.

[Damn, Ji Yan, you’re really something. I hereby declare you officially admitted to the Chi Zhi Yi Heng fan club. But how come I didn’t see Gu Chen give you the chocolate?]

…

Ji Yan angrily crumpled the note and threw it into the trash.

As if she’d let anyone see—the chocolate and milk were things she’d bought for herself to eat!

Leaving Lin Kuizhi alone in her confusion, wondering what kind of act these three were putting on.

Soon, the day of the autumn outing arrived. The school, as always, lacked creativity—it was another trip to the amusement park.

Yue Xin watched as the two still hadn’t exchanged a single word, growing increasingly anxious. “Ji Yan, think of something!”

It wasn’t that Lin Kuizhi didn’t want to talk to Chi Yu; it was just that she’d promised not to disturb him. So every time she almost spoke up, she swallowed her words back down.

After happily enjoying a few thrilling rides, Lin Kuizhi finally felt the pent-up frustration in her heart dissipate a little.

Buying an ice cream and turning around, she saw a tall, slender girl with smooth black hair standing beside the boy not far away, smiling as she spoke to him.

The frustration that had just faded came rushing back, this time bringing along its whole family, leaving her feeling a little breathless.

She angrily thumped her uncooperative chest, blinked her slightly sore eyes, and silently walked off in another direction.

A girl like that was probably the best match for Chi Yu—gentle and soft-spoken, unlike herself, who in his eyes was nothing but a bully.

Her mind filled with that beautiful scene she’d just witnessed, Lin Kuizhi walked in a daze until she found herself in a secluded corner.

A sleazy-looking man approached from the opposite direction, his eyes gleaming with lust when he saw her.

Lin Kuizhi felt exasperated. Just when things couldn’t get worse, here came more trouble.

Since she was already in a foul mood—wasn’t she supposed to be a bully? Today, she’d show her true strength as one!

The man moved closer. “Little girl, out playing all by yourself?”

“Dressed so lightly, you must be trying to catch my eye.”

Lin Kuizhi looked at him with disgust. “You’re like a chicken with tear ducts connected to its bladder—your eyes leak piss and see everything as dirty. Get lost.”

Provoked by her words, the man flew into a rage, lunging forward and shoving her to the ground, his rough, filthy hands reaching for her face.Just this? A flicker of mockery passed through Lin Kuizhi’s eyes, but before the man could clearly see it, a sharp pain shot through his abdomen, instantly causing him to collapse.

Withdrawing her hand and pushing him aside, Lin Kuizhi stood up, opened her phone to call the police, and requested an ambulance.

In her original world, she had also faced harassment. She had long wanted to do something like this. It felt great—the Lin family’s protective shield allowed her to vent her pent-up anger fiercely in this novel world.

When Chi Yu was frantically searching for her, he saw a scene that nearly shattered his heart.

The usually delicate girl was crying, crouched on the ground, her hand trembling uncontrollably as she held a knife. A police officer beside her draped a blanket over her shoulders, offering comfort.

His heart felt as if it were being torn apart.

The matter was swiftly handled. The Lin family used all their means to ensure the perpetrator would never see the light of day again. Strangely, the surveillance camera in the hospital room malfunctioned suddenly. The perpetrator’s hands and legs were broken, and he was rendered incapable of any further harm.

Lin Kuizhi was proven to have acted in self-defense and was soon released from the police station.

Chi Yu waited at the entrance like a statue.

Seeing the look of pain and guilt on Chi Yu’s face, Lin Kuizhi’s eyes sparkled with an idea.

“Chi Yu, I’m so scared. Can you hold me?”

As soon as the words left her lips, she was abruptly pulled into a tight embrace.

The young man held her firmly, his strong arms wrapping around her waist as if she might vanish the next second.

Patiently waiting for Chi Yu’s emotions to settle, she gently ruffled his hair.

“Carry me home, okay?”

Perched on the young man’s broad back, she secretly smiled to herself.

Upon arriving home, Chi Yu gently set her down.

The girl grabbed his hand, her face full of grievance. “Are you leaving already? But I’m so afraid of having nightmares.”

“I’ll go draw a bath for you,” he reassured her, patting her fluffy head.

…

Without even drying his hair, he waited outside the bathroom door, fearing something might happen.

The girl emerged wearing cartoon pajamas, her fair and tender face slightly flushed from the steam, and softly stretched out her arms.

Chi Yu quickly stepped forward, picked her up, and placed her on the bed. Just as he was about to leave, his neck was suddenly pulled down, burying his face in the fragrant curve of her neck and shoulder.

“Miss…” his voice muffled.

“I’m really scared. You have to stay with me,” Lin Kuizhi commanded.

He hummed softly in agreement, rolled to the side, and wrapped his arms around the young girl, gently patting her back.

Is the big villain trying to lull her to sleep?!

Lin Kuizhi suppressed a scream in her throat, pretending to be frightened as she held him even tighter, hearing a muffled groan from beside her ear.

Startled, she loosened her grip slightly and looked up with concern. “Are you hurt?”

The young man before her now had a slight frown between his brows, his eyes as dark as the night, with a faint hint of red at the corners, adding a touch of allure to his already striking features.

Lin Kuizhi felt as if a feather had lightly brushed her heart, and she began to stammer.

Chi Yu stared at her for a long moment without speaking. Just as she began to feel the atmosphere turning strange, she noticed an undeniable change.

Her face flushed crimson, and she shifted slightly backward.

A powerful force pulled her back, and a low, husky voice whispered in her ear, “Don’t move. Go to sleep.”

After a moment of silence, she spoke softly.

“Chi Yu, it’s the bad people who are dirty, not the victims. Do you understand?”

What she really wanted to say was, it was the orphanage director who was dirty, not him.

Ever since she had obtained fragments of memories from the System, she had truly begun to uncover the secrets buried deep within Chi Yu’s heart—secrets so difficult to approach, so hard to speak of.
