No matter how much Sylvia thought about it, she couldn’t shake the feeling that someone had deliberately done something to the door.

Besides, she had offended Damian several times since her arrival.

Although she couldn’t understand why he would bother retaliating against her, the thought still slipped into her mind.Full novel: Forced to marry: I found a perfect husband — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

‘Could it be that he wanted to take revenge?’ But that shouldn’t be possible.

Damian hated her to the core.

Hadn’t he already called her unworthy?

Sylvia drew in a deep breath and turned her attention back to him.

“Do you care to explain what happened to the door?” Damian raised both hands innocently.

“I don’t know.” Sylvia stared at his face for several moments, trying to determine whether he was being sincere or simply pretending not to know anything.

However, the dark glasses covering his eyes shielded a considerable portion of his expression from her.

The parts of his face that remained visible were as blank as ever, and his entire posture carried an almost leisurely air that seemed to say, ‘I am not that free.’ Sylvia exhaled in frustration and turned her attention back to the door, completely missing the faint smirk that briefly crossed Damian’s lips.

“The key can’t turn, and it had been working perfectly just moments ago.

Now you are telling me that you don’t know what happened?” “Leslie,” Damian interrupted swiftly.

“I know you might not believe me, but I am really not aware of what happened to the door.” Sylvia still found his explanation difficult to believe.

However, when she thought about it more carefully, she swallowed the words of accusation that were about to leave her mouth.

He hadn’t gone anywhere near the door since entering the room, and he was blind.

Even if he had wanted to tamper with the lock, how could he possibly have done it without seeing what he was doing?

‘But if he is innocent…who else could have done it?’ Before she could think any further, Damian’s voice broke through her thoughts.

“Let me call Mark and have him come over.

Maybe the door is broken.” “Broken?” Sylvia immediately snapped her head toward him, her expression suggesting that she couldn’t understand how he had arrived at such a ridiculous conclusion.

‘Do door locks suddenly break that easily?

Shouldn’t there have been some resistance when the key was used earlier if there was already a problem with the lock?

But the key had turned smoothly before.’ She shook her head after a moment.

“That’s impossible,” she replied, her lips parting as though she intended to explain her reasoning, but the words she wanted to say became stuck in her throat.

“What the hell?” Damian suddenly cursed bitterly under his breath.

“What is it?” Sylvia asked, narrowing her eyes at him.

“I don’t have my phone.” Damian continued searching through his pants pockets and then his breast pocket, but no matter how many times he checked, his phone was nowhere to be found.

After several search with no result, his shoulders slumped with resignation.

“I might have left it behind in my room.” Sylvia felt as though every bone in her body had suddenly gone weak.

‘What sort of night is this?’ She couldn’t believe that the night had turned out this way.

Of all the people she could have crossed paths with after dinner, she had somehow ended up with Damian.

Not only had she encountered him again, but she was now trapped in the same room with him.

‘Could my life possibly become any more miserable?

There was no good part of my day, and now even the night is turning out worse than I imagined.’ Damian wheeled himself slightly closer to her.

“We will definitely find a way out of this.” Sylvia glanced at him.

Under normal circumstances, she should have felt somewhat consoled by his words, but she couldn’t help thinking about the obvious problem.

‘With no eyesight…there is really nothing he can do.’ The more she thought about their situation, the harder her head began to throb.

‘Why is everything going wrong?’ Damian had no phone, and Sylvia didn’t have Mark’s phone number or the number of anyone in the Ecercrest home.

That meant there was practically no way for either of them to contact someone outside the room.

Unless someone happened to notice that Damian wasn’t in his room, they would probably remain trapped in the room until morning.

And Sylvia couldn’t bear the thought of spending the entire night with Damian.

Not even in the slightest.

She walked back toward the table and carefully placed the dishes at the end of the wall directly opposite the bed.

Once she was done, she began pacing around the room, desperately trying to come up with a solution.

Her thoughts spun rapidly as she considered every possible way they could get out.

After several moments, she stopped and folded her arms across her chest while tapping her cheek lightly with her index finger.

The anger and frustration building inside her felt like a tidal wave threatening to overwhelm her.

Finally, she couldn’t take it anymore.

“What do we do now?” Damian’s head hung slightly as though he was also exhausted by the situation.

When he heard her question, he slowly lifted his head and turned toward her voice.

“I don’t know.” The resignation in his tone didn’t escape Sylvia’s ears, and her brows furrowed deeply.

“But how could this really be?” she muttered, trying to analyze everything that had happened.

First, the old man had forced Damian to bring dinner to her room and wait until she finished eating.

Then, immediately after she had finished, she had gone to open the door and discovered that it wouldn’t budge.

Sylvia shook her head slowly.

“Do you think it is possible that your grandfather might have orchestrated this entire thing?” Damian’s lips curled upward slightly.

‘It seems she isn’t stupid after all.’ Thinking about his grandfather’s insistence in getting him a wife and not just any but a lady from a lower family just because he was involved in that accident….

‘Since he was the one who arranged the marriage, he might as well take the blame for this.

Who cares?’ “Maybe…” His voice came out as a quiet whisper, carrying just enough uncertainty to make it impossible to determine whether he was admitting to the possibility or denying it.

He deliberately left the decision in her hands, allowing her to believe whatever she wanted.

Either way, it is still his grandfather.

Sylvia glanced at him suspiciously.

She wasn’t convinced by his vague response.

“Are you really sure it was Grandpa’s doing?”
