Thank you 🙂 ——————– Grass-type Pokemon generally had gentle and friendly dispositions.
Coupled with the fact that most of them could use photosynthesis to obtain nutrients, there wasn’t typically severe competition between different tribes; instead, they lived in harmony with one another.
As the leader of its tribe, the Cherrim was naturally very familiar with the neighbors across a large surrounding area.
Therefore, in order to gather the required workforce as quickly as possible, Chase paid an additional fee to invite the Cherrim leader to act as his guide.
Otherwise, if he had a few more experiences like the one with the Cherrim, he really wouldn’t need to plant any trees this year.
The Cherrim leader agreed to this invitation very readily.
The reason for this, aside from the two large boxes of Pokeblocks, was that it wanted to hurry up and send Chase’s group of outsiders packing.
Although Chase had consistently maintained a friendly attitude, it never hurt to be cautious.
Having led its tribe through the trials and tribulations of the wild for so many years, the Cherrim leader would absolutely never entrust its side’s safety to the kindness of others.
It had keenly perceived that the Arcanine was extremely strong.
Coupled with the type advantage, even if the couple attacked together, they might not be its match, let alone the Zangoose eyeing them covetously from the side, whose strength was also not to be underestimated.
…
Chase didn’t dare to delay.
That very afternoon, the Cherrim leader guided him to three Grass-type Pokemon tribes living nearby.
The first was the Sunflora tribe, which, like the Cherrim, had brilliant smiling faces.
They lived at the foot of a mountain about five kilometers away from the large lake.
Perhaps because both species bore similar smiling faces, their relationship was quite good.
As soon as the Cherrim leader brought Chase over, the Sunflora leader personally came out to welcome them.
After a brief exchange of pleasantries and an explanation of the situation, the Sunflora leader agreed to Chase’s request after only a moment’s thought.
Things went far more smoothly than he could have imagined.
However, during the subsequent conversation, Chase came to understand why the Sunflora leader had agreed so readily.
Aside from its trust in the Cherrim leader, the birth and survival rate of young Pokemon in the Sunflora tribe this year had far exceeded previous years, making the number of Pokemon in the tribe noticeably higher than normal.
It wasn’t that they couldn’t afford to feed them; after all, with the Sunflora tribe’s food reserves, supporting a few more Sunkern through the winter wasn’t a difficult task.
But once winter passed, heaven knew how many more Sunflora would be added to the tribe next year.
These newly evolved Sunflora wouldn’t have the strength to help the tribe seize more territory, yet their food consumption far exceeded that of Sunkern.
Therefore, with their current territory, it would be very difficult to support so many extra mouths.
The Cherrim leader was clearly aware of the situation here; otherwise, it wouldn’t have bypassed closer options and brought Chase here first thing.
Now, not only did it have the opportunity to save on the expenses of some tribesmen, but it could also earn a little extra on the side.
The Sunflora leader was almost moved to tears by the Cherrim leader: ‘What a good brother, thinking of me whenever there’s a good deal!’ (Chase: Shouldn’t I be the one you’re most thankful for…) Seizing this opportunity to exploit a “rich landlord,” the Sunflora leader was truly not polite, directly assigning two Sunflora and eight Sunkern to go back with Chase to plant trees.
This number seemed like a lot, but aside from the two Level 30-something Sunflora who were actually somewhat useful, four of the remaining eight Sunkern were actually underage minors just over level ten…
Chase: Do I really look that much like a sucker?
Sunflora leader: Lol ‘Whatever, worst case scenario, I’ll just have the four of them share the responsibility of one tree.
These little guys won’t eat much anyway, so I’ll just treat them as freebies.’ Afterward, the Cherrim leader took Chase to the territories of two other Grass-type Pokemon tribes and communicated with their leaders.
The Sawsbuck leader, citing their tribe’s small size, was unwilling to let its tribesmen go too far away.
Even with the Cherrim leader vouching for them, they refused.
Throughout the process, the nearly Level 60 Sawsbuck leader maintained a faint sense of distance from Chase and the Cherrim leader.
Seeing that it was a lost cause, Chase didn’t insist.
The final Grass-type Pokemon tribe also used a similar excuse to the Sawsbuck’s, causing Chase to hit another sizeable dead end.
However, this was unavoidable.
The two tribes that refused both had populations of only around ten; any loss was something they couldn’t afford.
Besides, they didn’t lack Chase’s meager Pokeblocks anyway.
Aside from these three and the Tangela in the large lake, there were other Grass-type Pokemon around the lake, but they were all solitary rogues.
They certainly wouldn’t abandon their territories to go plant trees with Chase just for some Pokeblocks.
With things having come to this, Chase could only head back to the large lake and ask if the Tangela tribe was interested.
Once he secured this tribe, he could start preparing for the trip back.
…
As night fell, the Bidoof arrived early at Chase’s camp as agreed, bringing along a Tangela about its size, which appeared to be its friend.
The following matters were quite simple: after tasting the delicious Pokeblocks, the Tangela immediately scurried back to invite a fairly influential Tangrowth from its tribe over to learn the specific details from Chase.
Room and board covered, plus extra pay—even though planting trees in the dead of winter wasn’t a particularly reliable endeavor, this Tangrowth still brought over its tribe’s leader, and they agreed with Chase to dispatch five tribesmen to help out.
At this point, Chase’s objective for the trip was basically accomplished.
He had hired a full twenty-one Grass-type Pokemon, six of whom had reached mid-level strength.
Of the remaining Pokemon, if you counted the four baby Sunkern as a single unit, it was roughly equivalent to eleven.
Adding in the Pokemon already waiting back at the Ranger station, Chase’s tree-planting endeavor should be considered a success.
To make it easier to transport these Pokemon back, Chase took out the Poke Balls he had prepared in advance and briefly explained their function.
Although they weren’t entirely willing, with things having come to this, the selected Pokemon had no choice but to enter the Poke Balls to settle in temporarily, one by one, under the urging of their respective leaders.
The originally somewhat chaotic and crowded area immediately became much more spacious, causing the surrounding leaders to click their tongues in wonder.
However, just as Chase mounted Blaze and prepared to leave, a somewhat familiar, tiny voice suddenly echoed from the lakeside.
