In the dark corridors of an abandoned school on the outskirts of Tokyo, moonlight barely slipped through broken windows.

Dust floated in the air like ash.

‎Damien fixed the collar of his long black coat and pulled out a cigarette.Full novel: Gashin — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

He lit it with a flick of his lighter, the flame briefly illuminating his tired face and messy hair.

He took a slow drag and exhaled.

‎”You two are late,” he said in a rough, husky voice, glancing at Saki and Akira.

“There’s an unknown demon lurking somewhere in this building.

Medium to high threat.

Stay sharp.”

‎Saki crossed her arms, clearly irritated.

“I still can’t believe I’m teamed up with him,” she muttered, shooting Akira a sharp glare.

‎Akira looked hurt but stayed silent, clenching his red scarf.

‎Damien blew out a cloud of smoke.

“Teams are volatile.

That’s the point.

Versatility comes from working with people you hate.

Get over it and be a team for once.

Or you’ll both die here.” Follow the newest chapters on g.com.

‎He slowly pulled out a pair of sleek tactical goggles and slid them over his eyes.

The lenses glowed faintly with faint blue runes.

‎Akira blinked.

“Why are you wearing goggles?”

‎Damien tilted his head slightly, his expression unchanging.

“It activates my Weak Point view.

Without them, everything becomes too messy.

Too many overlapping signals.

You’ll understand later.”

‎The three began walking down the dark hallway, their footsteps echoing.

Old lockers lined the walls, some dented and covered in strange black marks.

‎Saki glanced at Damien.

“Why aren’t the others with us?

Tatsuya, Rika, everyone else?”

‎”They have their own mission tonight,” Damien replied flatly.

“Different threats, different places.” His watch suddenly rang with a soft chime.

He glanced at it.

“Tatsuya already finished the Osaka mission.

‎Damien stopped in front of a sealed classroom door.

Without warning, he pulled out a large, worn cleaver from under his coat.

The blade gleamed dangerously.

‎BAM!

‎He kicked the door with tremendous force, smashing it open.

‎Inside the ruined classroom, a grotesque four-armed demon crouched on the ceiling.

Its body was twisted and covered in pulsing veins.

It slowly turned its head toward them, multiple eyes glowing with malice.

‎”Fresh… meat…” it spoke in a heavily distorted, multi-layered voice that made the air tremble.

‎Damien took another calm drag of his cigarette, cleaver resting on his shoulder.

His goggles glowed brighter as he analyzed the creature.

‎”Grade B.

Three major weak points,” he muttered.

“Saki, Akira — get ready.”

‎Saki summoned her glowing blade, Slaughtering Assault.

Akira clenched his fists, feeling Gashin stir faintly beneath the red scarf.

‎The mission had officially begun.
