The Abyss Herald’s movement just now had been to turn first, then quickly raise its hand.
In other words, it had initially intended to dodge.
The block was only a last-second recovery after realizing it would not be able to evade in time.
The Abyss Herald’s speed could not keep up with Star Platinum!
Once he confirmed that, everything else became much easier.
“Hall Master Hu, you should get some proper rest now.” Chen Mo squeezed Hu Tao’s shoulder, then gently pulled the girl behind him.
“Two minutes.
Watch me finish it within two minutes.” “Arrogant fool!” The Abyss Herald rapidly gathered power and launched a shockwave at Chen Mo.
Star Platinum rushed out from Chen Mo’s body.
Its iron fist tore through the air with a thunderous sound, scattering the shockwave with a single punch.
As the spray of water fell to the ground, the Herald spun its body and charged forward.
“Ora!” Star Platinum met it head-on, clashing fist against blade from both sides and firmly catching the water blades.
“Foolish!
Do you truly think brute force alone can withstand the great power of the Abyss?” The Herald twisted with all its strength.
Its other blade drew an azure semicircle through the air, slashing down vertically toward Star Platinum’s head.
“Big guy!” Hu Tao activated Guide to Afterlife.
Pyro energy wrapped around her body as she swung the Staff of Homa and rushed toward the Herald’s flank.
The excitement beneath the Herald’s mask.
The anxiety on Hu Tao’s face.
The blade’s edge touched Star Platinum’s hair.
Everyone thought he had no way to dodge.
Only the corners of Chen Mo’s mouth rose into a cold smile.
“Star Platinum!
Za Warudo!” Time came to a halt.
The Herald’s blade abruptly stopped above Star Platinum’s head.
Although it lasted only 0.5 seconds, at such close range, that was more than enough for Chen Mo to act as he pleased.
“Ora—!” Star Platinum released the water blade and smashed one of the Herald’s arms aside with a heavy punch.
Then, it unleashed a storm-like barrage against the Herald’s head and body.
Every punch was like a meteor crashing into the earth, inflicting immeasurable damage upon the Abyss Herald.
“Time resumes.” Before the Staff of Homa could even touch the Herald, Hu Tao saw its body inexplicably fly down the hillside.
At some unknown point, its body had also become covered in several obvious wounds.
“What exactly…” “I told you, didn’t I?
I’d finish it within two minutes.” Hu Tao looked back in shock and saw Chen Mo still smiling with confidence.
He withdrew his Stand and immediately chased after the direction in which the Herald had been sent flying.
According to the game’s mechanics, when an Abyss Herald was pushed to low health, it would activate a shield and enter its second phase.
He did not know whether something similar would happen here as well, so he had to land the finishing blow as quickly as possible before the Herald could activate its shield.
The closer Chen Mo got to the Herald’s position, the more he felt a damp sensation on his body.
An uneasy feeling instantly rose in his heart.
He was certain he was not sweating.
Beside the Herald, a large amount of Hydro energy was gathering toward it.
By the time Chen Mo found it, the Abyss Herald was just about to activate its elemental shield.
“Not good!” Chen Mo accelerated.
Once the enemy entered its second phase, he was not sure whether he could still handle it.
“Star Platinum: The World!” Even though Star Platinum stopped time, Chen Mo still could not prevent the coming of Dark Descent.
“Abyss, grant me rebirth—!” The moment time resumed, a vast surge of Abyssal power transformed into a dark-blue, tangible wave and slammed toward Chen Mo, pushing him several meters away.
Fortunately, Hu Tao, who had chased after him from behind, caught and supported him in time.
“Are you all right?” “I’m fine.” The evil energy spreading through the surroundings made Hu Tao feel deeply uncomfortable.
She looked into Chen Mo’s eyes.
“Was this also within your calculations?” Chen Mo did not answer.
He simply summoned his Stand again and continued attacking the Abyss Herald.
With Star Platinum’s strength, even if the Herald had put up a shield, the impact of its fists should still be able to penetrate through and damage the Herald’s true body inside.
This was not a game now.
Chen Mo refused to believe that he absolutely had to break the elemental shield first.
“Ora—!
Ora, ora!” Something was wrong.
This feeling was completely wrong!
Faced with the continuous barrage of attacks, the Abyss Herald did not move in the slightest.
Star Platinum’s fists landed on that thin Hydro shield as if massive boulders were sinking into a bottomless river or lake.
Sure enough, pure physical attacks really did have a hard time breaking shields that were not Geo.
Damn it, when will physical DPS characters finally rise up?
“Your abilities are quite interesting.
Is it instant acceleration?” The water blades on the Herald’s wrists, along with the elemental glow on its armor, became even more dazzling.
“But with that alone, you cannot shake the Abyss!” A powerful wave of air mixed with a great amount of Hydro energy surged toward Chen Mo and Hu Tao.
“Cast yourselves into the embrace of the Abyss!
His Highness requires your peculiar abilities!” The glow of Pyro energy lit up on the Staff of Homa as Hu Tao stepped in front of Chen Mo.
From the exchanges just now, she could tell that Chen Mo and his guardian spirit had no way to deal with the Herald in its current state.
“You have no elemental power.
You can’t do anything to it.
Leave this to this director.” Star Platinum retreated slightly.
At the moment, aside from relying on Hu Tao’s Pyro energy to trigger Vaporize, there really was no other method.
Chen Mo’s gaze inadvertently fell on the girl.
Her neck was covered in beads of water, and her hat, clothes, and pants did not look as if they had simply been soaked by a wave.
Through the vision he shared with his Stand, Chen Mo could clearly tell that Hu Tao’s chest was heaving violently.
Before regrouping with Chen Mo, she had already gone through several battles.
In her current state, Hu Tao’s stamina could hardly support her using elemental power on a large scale.
But relying only on the current Star Platinum was completely… Current?
Chen Mo suddenly remembered that there was still a system inside his body.
As long as he could raise Hu Tao’s affection level to 80, perhaps he could unlock an elemental Stand like Magician’s Red to deal with the Herald.
“Star Platinum: The World!” Chen Mo stopped time and cut into the battle between Hu Tao and the Herald.
His top priority now was to take the girl away and buy a moment to catch their breath for what came next.
“Chen Mo!?” “Ora!” Star Platinum’s fist smashed into the Herald’s face.
Although it still did not cause any damage, it forced the Herald to stagger back several steps.
Hu Tao leaned against Chen Mo’s chest, utterly surprised.
She had clearly been fighting the Herald.
How had she suddenly and inexplicably ended up beside Chen Mo?
Was his hidden special ability truly as simple as the Abyss Herald claimed — mere instant acceleration?
“Do you still not understand?
Your brute strength is insignificant before the Abyss!” “Oh?
Do you really think we’re at the end of our rope?” The Abyss Herald’s entire body stiffened.
Because of what had happened with the Meteor Finger Thorn earlier, it instinctively bent its body and carefully watched Star Platinum’s every movement.
Hu Tao was also deeply shocked.
In just half an hour, this childhood friend of hers had already given her far too many surprises.
Where exactly had Chen Mo obtained all these unknown, mysterious powers?
She tried to find a clue on his face, but before she could react, Chen Mo suddenly picked her up in his arms.
“Ch-Chen Mo!?
What are you doing!?” “Isn’t it obvious?
Of course I’m…” “Running away—!” With the help of Star Platinum’s leg strength, Chen Mo fled so quickly that even a Jo-level life-form would be left far behind.
The Abyss Herald never imagined that Chen Mo would actually resort to fleeing in the middle of battle.
By the time it reacted and rushed forward to pursue them, the two were already so far gone that it could not even eat their dust.
“The Abyss shall pursue you to the ends of the world—!”
