“I’ve taken down quite a few Hilichurls before too…”

Amber asked curiously, “So why didn’t I get this kind of energy?”

Jiang Chen said flatly, “You need to find ones you can’t beat on your own.”

Amber’s face flushed red.

Individually speaking, she really hadn’t encountered any Hilichurl she couldn’t defeat.

Compared to the ones in the temple today, they were all weaklings.

The times she had to flee were always because she accidentally stumbled into a whole nest of them.

“Let’s go.”

Jiang Chen pressed close to the wall and peeked into the hall inside.

“Three Wooden Shield Hilichurls, two Hilichurl Shooters, and one Hilichurl Berserker.”

“Should we lure them out?”

Amber asked.

If they set an ambush at the entrance, it should be manageable.

“No.

I’ll separate the two Hilichurl Shooters.

Lumine, you handle the Hilichurl Berserker.

Amber, you take care of the three Wooden Shield Hilichurls.”

“Me?

One against three?”

Amber was startled.

“Kiting is a bow user’s specialty,” Jiang Chen said, implying it should be a simple task.

If it were Fischl, forget three Wooden Shield Hilichurls—even if a Mitachurl with a shield were there, she could take it down without a scratch.

“Then…

I’ll try my best…”

Amber wasn’t confident.

Geo energy, like golden flowing sand, began to emanate from Jiang Chen’s body.

The commotion startled both Amber and Lumine.

“Geo…

Geo!?” Paimon was so shocked she flew back a distance.

“Doesn’t Boss Jiang use Anemo?”

Jiang Chen pointed toward the hall and chanted, “Wall of Stone!”

*Rumble!*

Following the direction he pointed, a stone wall taller than a person suddenly rose from the ground, splitting the hall into several sections.

The figures of the two Hilichurl Shooters were instantly buried behind it.

“Yayaika!”

The Hilichurls immediately spotted them.

“Lumine!”

“On it.”

Without wasting time on surprise, Lumine responded.

She angled her sword and charged straight at a Hilichurl Berserker holding a small Pyro Slime.

The Hilichurl Berserker was a support-type monster.

It would throw small Pyro Slimes at enemies tangled with Wooden Shield Hilichurls, creating explosions for area damage.

As an opponent, it was easier to deal with one-on-one than a Wooden Shield Hilichurl.

Lumine planned to finish it off, then circle around the stone wall to take on the Hilichurl Shooters.

“This side is all yours, Amber.”

Jiang Chen still had dense Geo energy flowing through him, but he showed no intention of attacking.

It was energy reserved for shielding Amber if she ran into danger.

Amber had no time to be stunned by the fact that he wielded two elements.

The three Wooden Shield Hilichurls had already charged.

She fired a charged arrow at one of the shields, igniting it.

“!”

Feeling the heat, the Hilichurl yelped in panic, stopping in its tracks and frantically waving its shield to put out the flames.

Amber rolled on the ground to accelerate, putting distance between herself and the other Hilichurls.

She drew her bow and nocked an arrow.

Pyro energy gathered at the arrowhead.

*Thump!*

Another Hilichurl blocked it with its wooden shield.

She glanced at the one she had set on fire earlier.

The flames on its shield had mostly died down.

Judging by the damage, it would take at least two Pyro arrows to burn through one wooden shield.

Amber felt a bit overwhelmed.

She kept moving, searching for a path where she wouldn’t get surrounded.

Paimon asked curiously.

“If I help, I have to share the energy,” Jiang Chen shook his head.

He needed to train his companions to break through and level up.

It had nothing to do with Ley Line energy or the dragon’s power.

On the other side, amidst the scattered flames from the exploding small Slime, Lumine’s Favonius Sword traced a graceful arc through the air before she sheathed it behind her back.

On the ground lay the burning corpse of the Hilichurl Berserker.

After confirming she had received the energy, Lumine circled around the stone wall to deal with the Hilichurl Shooters.

She felt herself growing stronger.

A faint smile tugged at her lips.

As she stepped behind the stone wall, she couldn’t help but glance back at the man standing at the entrance.

“Leveled up?”

Even without looking directly, Jiang Chen could get the information from the system.

By now, Amber had only managed to burn through two wooden shields and was being chased all over the place by the three Hilichurls.

She had no time to gather a Pyro arrow.

Jiang Chen sighed and snapped his fingers.

Another thick stone wall rose up, instantly separating Amber from the three Hilichurls.

Amber shot him a glance, then her eyes lit up.

Listening to the Hilichurls’ footsteps, she aimed her bow, charged with Pyro energy, at the corner of the stone wall.

She suddenly released the string!

A Hilichurl appeared right at that spot.

The charged arrow exploded directly on its head.

This Hilichurl, still holding its wooden shield, couldn’t react in time and was blasted far away.

Amber took two steps back, continued gathering a Pyro arrow, and then circled the stone wall with the three Hilichurls in pursuit.

After a great deal of effort, she finally took them down.

“There’s a real sense of accomplishment in breaking through a tough spot.”

Amber stuck out her tongue.

She was drenched in sweat, strands of hair clinging to her cheeks, breathing heavily.

She could still feel her hands trembling slightly.

Her voice was unsteady as she spoke.

Even so.

She felt amazing.

A bright, radiant smile spread across her cute, round face.
