##Author Note:

Welcome back, my loves.

In this chapter, the masks begin to slip.

The air between Habiba, Lin Sheng, and Zhou Han is thick with the electricity of unsaid words and burning secrets.

You’ve asked for the truth, and today, you’ll get a glimpse of the agony that hides behind a beautiful face.

But be warned—when hearts are this fragile and boundaries this thin, it only takes one moment for the dam to break.

Hold on tight, because the tension is about to reach a fever pitch.

Chapter 11: Geometry Of Agony

The morning sun bled into the apartment, pale and unforgiving, exposing every crack in their fragile facade.

They sat around the breakfast table, the silence so heavy it felt like a third person in the room—a suffocating, invisible weight pressing against their chests.

Habiba kept her eyes fixed on Zhou Han, a silent, desperate command for him to break the tension.

But he only returned her look with a weary, defeated tilt of his head.

Ask him yourself, his eyes silently pleaded.

Habiba let out a sharp, ragged breath and turned to Lin Sheng.

His posture was shattered, his presence dimmed.

“How are you today, Sheng?”

Lin Sheng didn’t look up immediately.

When he finally did, his eyes were hollowed out, dark with the haunting shadows of a thousand restless, tormented thoughts.

“I’m fine, Biba.”

“Are you sober?” Habiba pressed, her voice a delicate, dangerous wire ready to snap.

“Yes,” Lin Sheng replied, his voice barely a murmur, a ghost of sound.

“I know exactly what happened last night.”

A violent shock rippled through Habiba—his brutal, unguarded honesty was like a blade to her gut.

Then leave last night in the grave.

“What I want to know is what is rotting inside you. You’re stressed, you’re in trouble—you’re falling apart.”

“And, I am the one picking up the pieces, we are family, Sheng, let us carry this with you.”

Lin Sheng slid out of his chair, moving beside her, his fingers brushing hers.

His skin was electric, a searing jolt of heat against her own.

“Biba, please. Don’t burden yourself. I am just trying to manage… I don’t even know what I’m doing anymore.”

“Complicated is just a fancy word for agony!” Habiba flared, her voice trembling with the need to reach him.

“Rip that thing out of your heart and put it on the table. We are here for you—always.”

He shook his head, a ghost of a smile—sad, broken, and beautiful—playing on his lips.

“I can’t. Not now. Please, don’t let this touch you. Seeing you in pain… it’s the one thing I can not bear.”

Habiba gripped his hand tighter, anchoring him.

“Is it her? The woman who owns your heart?”

Lin Sheng went rigid, his jaw locking with a tension that radiated through his entire body.

He gave a tiny, almost imperceptible nod.

“Why are you suffering in silence?” Habiba demanded, tears blurring her vision.

“Why haven’t you told her?”

“I’m terrified that if I open my mouth, she will reject me,” he confessed, the raw vulnerability in his tone shattering her heart.

“And if she does, she won’t just say no—she will vanish from my world. That’s the biggest thing that scares me—not the rejection, but losing her completely. She’s at the precipice of her career. I want her to build, to be comfortable. I want to wait years if I have to, so I don’t mess up her peace.”

Zhou Han leaned forward, his expression sharp and desperate.

“Sheng, listen to me. You cannot live with this burning inside you for years—it will destroy you, man. I have faith in this girl. The way she cares for you, the way she loves you as a friend… she wouldn’t be able to reject you. Go ahead and tell her!”

“Hold on a moment,” Habiba interjected, her voice sharp.

“Do you know her, Han? Is it only me who doesn’t right? And of course you will not tell me. No matter how many times I will ask, then I will not ask!”

“Should I tell her everything?” Zhou Han asked, his voice pleading with the universe after seeing Habiba talking to him with such sadness and fury.

“Should I go to her, Sheng?”

Lin Sheng shook his head fiercely.

“No! This is my thing. I will be the one to tell her when the time is right!”

“Until when? I am sick and tired of watching you wither away. I’m worrying about you, Sheng!”

Habiba stood up, her own fury and heartache boiling over.

“I am frustrated! It’s like there is nothing I can do to help you because you won’t let me! If I knew who this girl was, I would go befriend her, understand her mind, how she thinks, and then I could give you the green light to go ahead and confess!”

“But I don’t know her. You have kept her hidden, and it’s killing us both. If you don’t let me help you, I am not promising anything—if I see you in that state again, I’m going to go find her myself! I will be come a detective, for that and I will tell her everything. And you can deal with whatever consequences follow.”

Her anger betrayed her, curdling into a deep, hollow ache.

Tears, hot and unbidden, spilled over her lashes.

Lin Sheng moved before she could blink.

He stood, pulling her into the hard, solid anchor of his chest.

He held her with a desperate, crushing intensity, his hands framing her face, his thumbs gently—so agonizingly gently—wiping the salt from her skin.

“Don’t cry,” he whispered, his voice vibrating through her bones, his breath warm against her forehead.

“Please, Habiba… don’t let your tears be the price of my mistakes.”

The world tilted on its axis.

He held her there, suspended in a moment that felt like the edge of a precipice.

His eyes locked on hers, fierce with a hunger, a passion, and a love that he had been fighting so hard to hide, yet shows through in every touch.

He looked at her not as a friend, but as his entire world.

Driven by a desire that defied every boundary they had built, Lin Sheng leaned down, his lips ghosting over hers before closing the final distance.

He kissed her—he kissed Habiba—letting all bottled-up agony and adoration of a lifetime, leaving the world around them to burn into ash.

##Author’s Note

They say love is the most dangerous fire of all—it warms you, and then it consumes you.

Habiba is trying to be the anchor, but Lin is drowning in a tide of his own making.

As the morning light fades, the fragile control they’ve fought so hard to maintain is shattering into a thousand pieces.

What happens when a man can no longer fight his own hunger?

In the next chapter, watch as the lines between “family” and “forbidden” dissolve completely.

A kiss is never just a kiss when it’s fueled by this much desperation.

But when the oxygen runs out and the heart refuses to beat, will Habiba be able to save him…

or will she be dragged into the abyss with him?

The air is running thin, and the kiss that follows is deeper than any confession.

Don’t miss Chapter 12—where the line is crossed, and there is no turning back.
