Chapter 16: The Collision Of Worlds
The hotel dining hall was a blur of nervous energy.
Actors sipped black coffee, their eyes glued to their scripts, chewing on pieces of dry toast between mumbled lines.
Xiamei sat near the center, her voice projecting as she practiced her lines with an edge of practiced spite.
While Habiba—in character as Qiu Ying—remained tucked in a corner, her eyes sharp, her posture radiating a calm, hidden intelligence.
[On Set]
“Places!” the Director shouted, his voice echoing through the makeshift lot.
“Everything depends on this opening encounter. If you don’t hook the audience in these first ten seconds, you’re lost them. Cameras! Sān, èr, yī—Kaishi!” (Three, two, one—Start!)
The scene began with the roar of engines.
Qiu Ying drove her sleek sedan with precision, pulling into the sprawling parking lot of Aura Global Simultaneously.
Jiling maneuvered his luxury vehicle into the spot beside her.
The moment they stepped outside, the air seemed to freeze.
Qiu Ying slammed her car door shut, her face flushed with authentic, fiery frustration.
Jiling didn’t even flinch.
He stepped out, his suit tailored to perfection, his expression a mask of icy indifference.
He looked at her—really looked at her—with a flicker of genuine shock.
He had navigated boardrooms and international mergers, but he had never encountered a woman who dared to speak to him with such arrogance.
He turned and walked toward the building without offering a single word of apology.
Arrogant, insufferable man, Qiu Ying thought, her hand trembling not with fear, but with righteous indignation.
“Cut! Cut! Habiba, Lin Sueng amazing, that’s good, but let’s get the elevator sequence perfect,” the Director call out.
“Reset! Cameras ready? Sān, èr, yī—kaishi!”
The elevator doors were packed.
Qiu Ying held a bubble tea tightly, but as the crowd surged in, she was shoved forward backwards.
A splash, a gasp, and suddenly her tea had decorated the front of Jiling’s pristine suit.
The door chimed open.
Jiling stepped out, looking down at his ruined jacket, his face unreadable.
Qiu Ying scrambled out after him, her heart pounding.
“Excuse me! I know I didn’t do that on purpose—the crowd pushed me.”
She paused, her eyes narrowing as she remembered the parking lot.
“Though, considering you didn’t have the decency to apologize earlier, I don’t see why I should offer you an apology now.”
Jiling stopped dead.
He turned slowly, looking down at the young woman.
He was supposed to be the icy CEO, but as he studied her defiant eyes, he felt a strange, intoxicating amusement. You are reading on novelping.com, the official source.
She was barely twenty-three, and yet she possessed a boldness that made his blood run hot.
He couldn’t help it; a small rare smile touched his lips before he turned and walked away.
[The Break]
As the Director called, “Break!” the atmosphere on set shifted from intense drama to electric praise.
Chen Kai rushed over, his charisma lighting up the space.
“Habiba, wow! You were absolutely magnetic! You didn’t just play the role—you became Qiu Ying. It was like watching a Soul Shift.”
“I forgot I was looking at a colleague and thought I was watching the real thing.”
Xiaomei approached as well, her voice smooth through her eyes lingered on the Director’s approving nod.
“Truly perfect, Habiba. I’ve never seen someone so natural.”
The Director and the lead producer descended upon them, their faces glowing with excitement.
“Congratulations, your two!” the Director exclaimed, gesturing to Habiba and lin Sheng.
“Your souls are completely aligned with these characters. I don’t know what it is—some kind of wild, unspoken connection—but your chemistry is unparalleled. Its raw perfect, its appetizing, its perfect.”
“What’s your secret?” another producer asked, laughing.
“You two have that ‘thing’—that spark that makes the audience want to dig deeper into the screen. Keep that energy, because that is what makes a drama legendary.”
Lin Sheng looked at Habiba, his expression softening.
Softening in a way the cameras didn’t catch, his heart heavy with the secret he was keeping.
“It’s just the story,” he murmured, his gaze lingering on her for a beat too long.
“It makes it easy to feel everything.”
