Tong Jiu looked at Su An with a face full of despair, his voice sounding mournful. “I just remembered I have an endorsement shoot this afternoon! I’ve gotta go. Let’s talk on the phone!”
Having said that, he scrambled to his feet, summoned all his courage, and fiercely snatched his hat and jacket back from Yu Feng’s hands before fleeing the scene without looking back.
Watching Tong Jiu’s retreating figure, Su An clicked his tongue and asked the man standing there, “Are the two of you just… magnetically incompatible?”
Yu Feng casually set the takeout containers on the table. “Who knows what’s up with him.”
Su An propped his chin on his hand and stared at Yu Feng for a few seconds before coming to a definitive conclusion: “You definitely scared him.”
Upon hearing this, Yu Feng let out a disdainful chuckle. “He’s a coward, and that’s my fault?” He paused for a beat, then added, “As long as you’re not afraid, it’s fine.”
Su An picked up his chopsticks and selected a piece of meat that was fatty but not greasy. Just as he was about to eat it, Yu Feng leaned in and snatched the meat right off his chopsticks.
Su An: “…”
Yu Feng raised an eyebrow in satisfaction. Su An looked at him helplessly. “Can’t you pick up your own food?”
In response, Yu Feng used those same chopsticks to pick up a piece of green vegetable and placed it in Su An’s bowl.
Su An: “…”
“How come you get meat and I only get vegetables?” Su An frowned in dissatisfaction.
Yu Feng then picked up a pale, bland-looking meatball and put it in Su An’s bowl. “There, that’s meat. Eat up.”
“I want the braised pork.” Su An poked at the meatball in his bowl until it practically looked like a honeycomb.
“You haven’t recovered yet, so you can’t eat things that are too greasy. Be good.”
“Then why did you buy braised pork?” Su An asked, puzzled.
“To tempt you,” Yu Feng replied in a teasing, obnoxious tone.
“Yu Feng! Get out!” Su An grabbed a nearby throw pillow and hurled it at the man.
Yu Feng caught the pillow with one hand and ruffled Su An’s hair with the other. “Fine, you can have one piece.”
“Two pieces,” Su An bargained.
“Deal!” Yu Feng agreed readily. He even thoughtfully picked out the two largest pieces and put them in Su An’s bowl before promptly carrying the entire bowl of braised pork away.
Su An froze for a second before the realization hit him. He gritted his teeth and hissed, “You dog of a man!”
After cursing him, Su An buried his head into the pillows on the sofa and refused to move. Yu Feng walked over with a laugh, patted him on the rear, and offered a compromise: “When you’re better, I’ll personally cook it for you, okay?”
Having his backside patted made Su An jump up like a cat whose fur had been rubbed the wrong way. “Don’t touch me!” he snapped fiercely.
Yu Feng sat back on the sofa, watching him with amusement. “If you don’t want to eat it, then forget it.”
Su An looked suspicious. “You’ll cook it yourself? Really?”
“Really,” Yu Feng answered smoothly. He even raised three fingers in a solemn gesture—likely the first and last time in his life he’d ever do so.
Su An sat back down properly. “I’ll believe you just this once.”
A simple meal was dragged out for nearly an hour by the two of them.
In the afternoon, Yu Feng went to the office to handle some business. Su An lay alone on the hospital bed, scrolling through his phone. He had wanted to check out immediately, but Yu Feng flatly refused, insisting he stay one more night for observation.
A few minutes ago, Wen Yun had called, worried he’d be bored and offering to come keep him company. Knowing she had stayed up all night at the hospital, Su An told her to rest at home and just pick him up tomorrow. Wen Yun agreed.
Su An scrolled for a bit, then hid his face behind the phone and smiled happily. Coming to this world and meeting so many people who care about me… it feels pretty good.
Ding—
A notification popped up. It was a message from Tong Jiu.
Tong Jiu: [An’an, you’re checking out tomorrow, right? I’ll come pick you up!]
Seeing Tong Jiu as full of energy as ever, Su An replied with a smile.
Su An: [Xiao Jiu, I appreciate the thought, but don’t try to use ‘picking me up’ as an excuse to dodge work, okay?]
The reply was instant.
Tong Jiu: [How did you find out?!]
Tong Jiu retracted the message almost as soon as Su An read it.
Tong Jiu: [How could I be that kind of person? I love working.] Tong Jiu: [pouty_face.jpg]
Su An: [I’ll come find you tomorrow afternoon with a surprise.]
Tong Jiu: [I will definitely pretend I don’t know anything and work hard!]
Su An looked at the chat log. How come other people encourage their friends to study, but with me, I have to encourage them to go to work?
Thinking of work, Su An switched apps and scrolled through the “World’s Invisible Tycoons (Revenge Edition)” group chat. Seeing no urgent notices, he turned off the screen and decided to get out of bed for some movement.
Since being moved to this ward, Su An hadn’t stepped outside the door. Because it was too cold out, he didn’t go to the gardens; he just strolled along the hospital corridor. As he walked, he found himself near a certain department on the fourth floor, where he spotted an “acquaintance.”
Su An had no intention of saying hello and planned to keep walking. However, the “acquaintance” turned around and saw him. The man’s eyes narrowed, and he marched over to Su An.
“Why are you here too?” Song Yixuan, wearing a mask and holding a registration slip, looked quite pale. “Heh, I see you play pretty wild. You look pure on the surface, but who knows how thirsty you are underneath.”
Su An leaned in to glance at the name on the registration slip. Mnh… it was indeed Song Yixuan’s real name.
Su An immediately backed away several steps as if he were afraid of catching a virus. He crossed his arms and asked mockingly, “Song Yixuan, does CEO Qin know you’re seeing a doctor for this kind of illness?”
Song Yixuan’s face darkened, and he snapped irritably, “What’s it to you? You’re here for the same reason… quit acting so high and mighty.”
Seeing this reaction, Su An let out a disdainful laugh. “Right, right. Whatever you say is true. If you said the sun came out at night, I’d believe you.”
Su An walked around him with a look of contempt. “Your life isn’t going well, so you want everyone else’s to be miserable too. Song Yixuan, you’re beyond saving.”
Unexpectedly, Song Yixuan laughed as if he’d heard a joke. “Hahaha, my life isn’t going well? I’ve entered the entertainment industry, I’m filming, I have fans, and I have money. You say I’m not doing well?”
“Su An, you’re just a piece of trash abandoned by the Su family. No money, no power. What right do you have to challenge me?”
Looking at his increasingly crazed expression, Su An wondered if he should call some psychiatric doctors to check the man’s head. Su An quickly pulled out his phone, snapped a photo of the Raving Song Yixuan that perfectly captured a “mental patient” state, and sprinted away.
Song Yixuan: “???”
Back in the ward, Su An looked at the photo. It was a bit of an eyesore, so he saved it to his cloud drive. Even if the photo was ugly and “polluted” his phone, it might come in handy later.
After saving the photo, he searched for Song Yixuan online. A search actually yielded results: Song Yixuan, Height: 183cm.
Su An: …Bold of him. He’s not even as tall as me. He’s 177cm at most.
Scrolling down, he saw the web drama credit: [Exclusive Contract: The Overbearing God’s Addictive Pampering] — Supporting Role #4.
Su An: …Mnh, he is filming. The villainous fodder who dies in three episodes.
He then checked Weibo. The follower count: 250.
Su An: …The follower count really suits him. It’s not even as high as the amount of money in my bank account.
Recalling Song Yixuan’s grand declarations earlier, Su An fell into a rare silence. Where did he get that confidence? Tiny ability, huge ego. If this isn’t a “normally-confident man,” what is?
Su An sat there looking like the “old man on the subway” meme. Seriously, what is he so arrogant about?
