The system and Yu Jiaojiao stared at each other, eyes wide.

After a tense standoff, the system finally reached its limit. With its mouth twitching, it lowered its voice and pleaded submissively, “Princess, please do the tasks…”

In the end, that bad feeling came true. Yu Jiaojiao pursed her lips, neither accepting nor rejecting its request.

But 101 didn’t dare to ask anymore. It felt as though it had seen straight through to Yu Jiaojiao’s true nature.

The gossip-loving netizens in the livestream, having watched this far, no longer wanted to waste their time on Yu Jiaojiao or generate any more buzz for her, and one by one, they logged off.

…

The room grew quiet.

It was the ringtone of a phone that finally broke the strange atmosphere.

Yu Jiaojiao looked at the caller ID. It was an unfamiliar number. Just as she was about to hang up, the system hurriedly reminded her, “Don’t hang up! That’s your agent’s number!”

“Agent?” Yu Jiaojiao tilted her head in confusion, her big eyes filled with bewilderment.

So this young lady hadn’t absorbed a single word it said earlier!

The system was left speechless and choked with emotion. It had no choice but to explain everything once more. “Your current identity is the supporting character in this novel world. You signed with an agency a few months ago, and because of your dramatic and troublesome behavior, you’re now in a state of being semi-famous and semi-notorious.”

“Your agent is calling now, which means we’ve reached a plot point. You’ve been booked for a variety show…”

Seeing Yu Jiaojiao’s growing confusion, the system said, “Never mind. I’ll just transfer the plot and the supporting character’s memories directly to you.”

As soon as it finished speaking, a romance novel and another person’s memories appeared in Yu Jiaojiao’s mind.

This novel mainly tells the story of the female protagonist, Wen Qiang. Her mother falls seriously ill, and in order to earn the astronomical medical fees, she decides to enter the entertainment industry, thus beginning the journey of a generation’s legend.

In a romance novel with a female protagonist, there is naturally a male protagonist as well.

The male protagonist, Gu Siyan, is the president of the rival company to the agency the female protagonist signs with. Initially portrayed as a carefree womanizer who flirts around everywhere, after he coincidentally encounters the female protagonist, he gradually falls deeply in love with her and decides that he will marry no one but her.

The female protagonist doesn’t really have any favorable feelings toward the male protagonist at first. However, being in the entertainment industry with no connections, she inevitably encounters all kinds of unspoken rules. Fortunately, the male protagonist protects her every step of the way, helping her reach the top, and little by little, she finds herself falling for him.

Interspersed throughout are various plotlines involving the male protagonist’s ex-girlfriends or admirers targeting the female protagonist, only to be put in their place by her; numerous male side characters falling for the female protagonist, driving the male protagonist wild with jealousy; and later, the female protagonist’s agency causing trouble, forcing her to terminate her contract and transfer to the male protagonist’s company.

The original Yu Jiaojiao was one of the male protagonist’s admirers. She signed with a company slightly weaker than those of the male and female leads, and relying on her exceptionally delicate and adorable looks, she tried to seduce the male protagonist.

Currently, the story is in its early stages. The male and female leads have already met, and the supporting character Yu Jiaojiao is about to appear on the same variety show as the female protagonist. Due to her dramatic and troublesome personality, she ends up making the female protagonist look even more perfect by comparison.

As for the supporting character Yu Jiaojiao’s memories, there’s really nothing substantial. Aside from also being good-looking and having lost both parents, her background and circumstances are worlds apart from those of the real Yu Jiaojiao.

And in her memories, she had already set her sights on Gu Siyan, vowing to marry him to achieve social climbing.

“Marry Gu Siyan to climb the social ladder?” Yu Jiaojiao’s expression gradually turned incredulous.

“He doesn’t even have as much money as I do. I’d be marrying him just to let him get his hands on the fortune my parents left me?!”

The system also realized this and became equally indignant. “Absolutely not! Who does he think he is?”

Hearing the system’s agreement, Yu Jiaojiao’s mood calmed down a little.

But only after blurting out those words did the system remember that its top priority was to get Yu Jiaojiao to agree to do the tasks.

By now, the phone ringing had already stopped on its own as time passed, but it soon started ringing again.

Seeing that Yu Jiaojiao still wanted to hang up, the system, having come to understand her a little, began to panic.

“Look at your life in the previous world. Sure, you had so much money, but what else did you have? You didn’t even have a single true friend. You don’t want to go back to living like that, do you?”

Not even a single true friend…

Yu Jiaojiao felt an arrow pierce her heart. Her lips slowly curled downward, and the look she gave the system had already turned fierce.

The system felt like it was about to break out in a cold sweat. It spoke meekly, “Why not try a different approach this time and make a name for yourself in the entertainment industry? Maybe you’ll even make some real friends?”

“Plus, the entertainment industry is truly a field full of gossip. There will always be the kind of gossip you like!” The system still didn’t want to give up on tempting her to do the tasks through gossip. It refused to believe that anyone could not love gossip!

“I’m not interested in watching pornographic manhua,” Yu Jiaojiao replied, but she puffed up her cheeks and answered the phone anyway.

‘It’s gossip manhua! Not pornographic manhua!’ The system silently swallowed those words back.

Not paying attention to what the system was doing, Yu Jiaojiao put the call on speaker.

“Jiaojiao, why did it take you so long to answer the phone? Are you up yet?” The voice on the other end sounded somewhat resentful but afraid to actually express it.

“I’m up,” Yu Jiaojiao replied in a muffled voice.

“Then have you eaten breakfast… I mean lunch?”

Hearing this, Yu Jiaojiao remembered that she hadn’t even washed up or eaten yet. Her puffed-up cheeks grew even puffier. “No!”

“Um… then I’ll bring you lunch. What do you want to eat?” Agent Sister Wang sounded a bit cautious. The truth was, this artist who had been assigned to her not long ago was just too high-maintenance. If it weren’t for the fact that her face could be considered exceptionally blessed even by entertainment industry standards—making her unwilling to give up on developing her—she probably would have already tossed her into some forgotten corner.

“I want the cod fillet and the Four Joy meatballs made by Chef Liu Zhen at Xian Xiang Ju.”

“HUH?!?!” Sister Wang’s voice instantly deepened several octaves.

Xian Xiang Ju was the most famous restaurant in the entire A City. The dishes made by Chef Liu Zhen, in particular, were so sought-after that money alone couldn’t guarantee a reservation. And this brat was asking for cod fillet and Four Joy meatballs right off the bat—was she trying to drain her family’s savings?!

“I’ll transfer the money to you.” Although Yu Jiaojiao had high standards for her quality of life, she had never taken advantage of others.

She then hung up and transferred 50,000 yuan directly to her manager.

Over on Sister Wang’s end, seeing the 50,000 yuan awaiting receipt, she was completely dumbfounded.

She began to suspect Yu Jiaojiao had secretly found a “sugar daddy” behind her back, and her face turned pale and green. As troublesome as this girl was, in her opinion, she definitely had the potential to become a huge star. If she got taken advantage of by someone so soon after debuting, it would be hard to steer her back onto the right path!

Panicking internally, but knowing that Yu Jiaojiao could only be handled with gentle care, she quickly pulled some strings to order a serving of cod fillet and four-joy meatballs from Xian Xiang Ju. She didn’t accept the transfer either. After picking up the lunch, she rushed hurriedly toward Yu Jiaojiao’s dormitory.

…

Yu Jiaojiao found the toothbrush in the bathroom too unhygienic, so she only rinsed her mouth with mouthwash and splashed some water on her face to wash it. Then she laid some tissues on the chair in the living room and sat down to wait.

In less than half an hour, she heard a knock at the door.

She slowly made her way over and opened the door, only to see Sister Wang rushing in with a panicked expression, carrying a lunch box.

“Jiaojiao, tell me, have you gone down the wrong path?!”

“Huh?” Yu Jiaojiao looked confused.

Seeing that she didn’t understand, Sister Wang asked directly, “Where did that fifty thousand yuan come from?”

“The inheritance my parents left for me.”

That one sentence shut down all the lecturing Sister Wang had prepared.

Her face twitched. “…Even if it’s inheritance from your parents, you can’t just spend it like that…”

“If I don’t spend it like this, how else am I supposed to spend it?” Yu Jiaojiao looked utterly perplexed. She sat down on the chair and waited for Sister Wang to set up the lunch on the table.

Fortunately, Sister Wang remembered in time that she hadn’t eaten yet. Holding back her urge to lecture, she took on the role of an assistant, carefully opening the elegant lunch boxes and arranging the food on the table.

Only then did Yu Jiaojiao begin to eat, as if it were only natural.

Seeing how focused she was on her meal, Sister Wang opened her mouth to speak several times but hesitated.

After she finished eating, Sister Wang finally spoke. “Consider this meal my treat. Wait until you’re famous before spending money like this…”

“Of course. I don’t usually eat food from outside anyway.” Although her parents were no longer around, the chef team they had employed at home was still there. She couldn’t even finish all the new dishes they came up with, no matter how many different ones she tried.

“That’s good!” As long as she listened to advice! Sister Wang breathed a sigh of relief.

She was about to bring up the variety show she had booked for Yu Jiaojiao when she heard Yu Jiaojiao ask her, “I heard that you agents usually manage several artists at the same time. Is that true for you too?”

Sister Wang thought she wanted to find out about the other artists under her so she could build good relationships with them. “Of course, I—”

“Then drop all the others. I’m not used to sharing my things with anyone else,” Yu Jiaojiao said imperiously.

Sister Wang: “??” Is this brat having another episode?!

“How much is your annual salary?” Yu Jiaojiao asked again.

Sister Wang chuckled and couldn’t help shaking her head. “Although I’m not the agency’s top agent, the artists under me are fairly successful. I make at least two million a year from commissions…”

“I’ll give you ten million a year after taxes, with bonuses and benefits on top,” Yu Jiaojiao said in a calm, matter-of-fact tone.

Sister Wang’s face twitched again. “Are you serious?”

No one had ever questioned Yu Jiaojiao like this before. She puffed up her cheeks and stared intently at Sister Wang.

“I’m not living here anymore. I’m going home,” she suddenly said, visibly upset.

Sister Wang: “?”

“It’s not that I—”

Before she could finish her sentence, Yu Jiaojiao pulled out an incredibly cool, flashy phone and dialed a number. “Butler Li, I’m coming home to stay. Send someone to pick me up.”

B-Butler Li??

Sister Wang felt like she might not know this artist of hers as well as she thought.

What happened next felt utterly surreal to her. Yu Jiaojiao left without a second thought, and Sister Wang had no choice but to follow her to make sure no trouble broke out.

Then, after they exited the apartment elevator and she waited with Yu Jiaojiao at the apartment entrance for a while, a luxurious stretch Bentley—a car that outsiders could never get past the security gate—actually pulled up beside them.

The Bentley stopped perfectly next to them. Someone got out from the passenger seat, respectfully opened the door for them, and held their hand against the roof of the car.

Yu Jiaojiao simply climbed right in.

Sister Wang stood there dumbfounded, at a loss for what to do.

It wasn’t until Yu Jiaojiao, already seated, looked at her with a heavy gaze that Sister Wang snapped out of it and hurriedly got in.

The door was closed, and the person who had opened the door returned to the passenger seat.

The driver, with a warm smile, reminded them, “Miss, we’ll be home shortly. Estimated time is fifteen minutes.”
