“Two million what?”
“You can’t be talking about… this bicycle, can you?!”
The crowd erupted in an uproar, their eyes darting between the bicycle and Yu Jiaojiao and Sister Wang.
Sister Wang simply stood by and watched.
Under the gaze of the cameras, Yu Jiaojiao asked, “Since this bicycle counts as my sponsorship, can we use it now?”
For a moment, the stagehand didn’t respond. He looked over at the director.
The director let out a silent sigh. They’d already brought the thing all the way here—how could he not let her use it?
He waved his hand. The stagehand, having received his signal, said, “Go ahead, go ahead.”
The other three groups, who had also retrieved their scrolls, noticed something unusual. They looked at the dazzling bicycle parked nearby and exchanged bewildered glances.
The crew brought out a similarly beat-up pedal tricycle with a cargo bed in the back, a wave scooter, a skateboard, and placed them alongside the bicycle.
“Alright, the modes of transportation for all four groups have now been determined. We’ve placed the vehicles in front of you. The mission continues.”
Before the other three groups could even process what was happening, Yu Jiaojiao pulled Wen Qiang over to the bicycle. “I’ll provide the bike, and you do the pedaling. Fair, right?”
“Uh, sure.” Wen Qiang didn’t hesitate for long.
The two got on the bicycle. Wen Qiang got her bearings and started pedaling toward the next mission location as directed by the production team.
The remaining three groups, however, just stood there staring blankly at their respective “vehicles.” The pair who had drawn the skateboard scroll—Gu Mi and Wei Luting—looked especially miserable.
“Do you know how to skateboard?” they asked in unison, only to shake their heads simultaneously upon hearing each other’s reply.
In the end, they tentatively leaned on each other, one foot on the board and the other on the ground, awkwardly pushing forward. They found that aside from poor directional control, it wasn’t too difficult. And so, they set off, precariously carrying themselves on the skateboard.
The pair who got the wave scooter—Sun Yu and Wang Jiajia—had it even worse. If it were just one person, a wave scooter was indeed easy to master and a good way to get around, but what were two people supposed to do with it?
Eventually, Wang Jiajia came up with a solution. She asked the production crew for a rope, tied the two prongs of the scooter together, and the two of them squeezed onto the “vehicle,” one on each side.
The tricycle seemed like the easiest option at first glance, but it was also a trap. The front seat could only fit one person, so the other had to sit in the cargo area. Tricycles were already difficult to pedal, and with the extra weight in the back, the person pedaling up front worked as hard as an ox plowing a field—forcing the two to constantly switch off.
When you did the math, it turned out that Yu Jiaojiao’s group had actually drawn the best option with the bicycle!
And on top of that, the bike Yu Jiaojiao sponsored herself was incredibly cool! The more the female guests in the other three groups thought about it, the more frustrated they became.
They really wanted to just quit and refuse to continue, but the cameras were still rolling.
For the sake of their careers, they couldn’t afford to throw tantrums like they might at home. They weren’t like Yu Jiaojiao, who had someone to back her up—she wouldn’t even use the bike the production team provided and had someone deliver a new one in such a short time.
And that was without them even knowing the value of that bicycle. If they did, their inner thoughts would surely become even more extreme.
Yu Jiaojiao had no idea that her actions had already made her and Wen Qiang targets of everyone else’s resentment.
She sat sideways on the back of the bicycle, arms wrapped around Wen Qiang’s waist, leisurely taking in the scenery along the way.
101 crouched on her shoulder.
“Host, are you really not going to guess who that actress is?”
Yu Jiaojiao ignored it.
After a while, the system simply couldn’t hold back any longer.
“I’ll just tell you the truth. That actress is Sun Yu.”
There were still some gossip-loving netizens holding out in the livestream, and they were caught off guard by this bombshell.
【What?! How could it be Sun Yu!!】
【Why?! If you said Wei Luting, I might believe it. But Sun Yu? What does she have that compares to Chen Yizun’s wife? She has no family background, and her looks are a million miles away. Is Chen Yizun blind?!】
【The people Chen Yizun dated before and his wife are all top-tier beauties. He’s even claimed himself that he likes good-looking people. How could he go for Sun Yu?】
【So this gossip manhua is completely fake, isn’t it?】
The system had no idea about the viewers’ complaints. It was hoping Yu Jiaojiao would give some kind of different response.
But she still looked completely uninterested.
The system: “…”
“Well, surely you want to know who Assistant Yang is, don’t you? If you manage to win the first episode of this variety show, you’ll unlock the third chapter of the manhua~
“And this time, I promise Assistant Yang’s identity will be revealed!”
“Oh.” Yu Jiaojiao replied indifferently with a single syllable.
Having finally gotten a response, the system silently shed tears. It didn’t dare ask whether that meant she agreed or not.
What a miserable, pointless existence this system life was!
Considering that all the guests were female and the production team had come up with four such ridiculous modes of transportation, they naturally wouldn’t set the next mission location too far away.
Wen Qiang’s stamina was genuinely impressive. From the moment they left the square, she pedaled along the asphalt road without stopping once.
Whether it was because the area had been cleared out or because this place was normally deserted, aside from the cameraman following them, the two of them didn’t encounter a single other person along the way.
In her previous world, Yu Jiaojiao had been well taken care of, but it was true that she didn’t have many friends. Apart from being a bit delicate and high-maintenance, she was usually quiet and didn’t talk much.
Wen Qiang genuinely liked her, but she didn’t know what to talk about with her.
Aside from spotting an especially beautiful rose along the way and pointing it out for Yu Jiaojiao to see, she couldn’t find any other topic.
The journey was mostly silent.
About twenty minutes later, they successfully arrived at the lakeside scenic area designated by the production team.
The director and his crew had already taken a shortcut and gotten there first.
Seeing them approach, the stagehand waved repeatedly, signaling for them to get off the bicycle.
The two of them let down their guard and dismounted—only to have several masked men suddenly rush out from the side and snatch their bicycle away.
Yu Jiaojiao and Wen Qiang stood there dumbfounded, watching the masked figures disappear into the distance.
It wasn’t until Wen Qiang added, “It looks like they knocked off a few of the decorative rhinestones. That shouldn’t be a problem, right?”
“What?!” The director and his crew were alarmed.
They knew perfectly well that those weren’t rhinestones on that bicycle—they were real diamonds!
“Quick, quick, quick! Get them back here right now! Find those diamonds that fell off!” The production team had intended to create a comedic bit where the guests got pranked, but instead, they had pranked themselves.
Yu Jiaojiao and Wen Qiang watched as the crew members crouched down one by one, carefully searching the ground. The two of them ended up becoming mere spectators instead.
This dramatic turn of events was all captured on camera.
After barely managing to find those few diamonds, the director and his crew breathed a sigh of relief. But they had no way to reattach the diamonds to the bicycle, so they looked at Yu Jiaojiao helplessly.
“What should we do?”
“I don’t know,” Yu Jiaojiao said, staring blankly back at the director. “I’m only responsible for sponsoring it, not for maintenance.”
“Wait…” Wen Qiang finally realized what was going on. “Those aren’t actually real diamonds, are they?”
Everyone looked at her with expressions that said it all: You’re just figuring that out now?!
