The first night in Kaelrith was colder than Kaelen expected.
The fire he had built slowly weakened beneath the freezing wind while strange sounds echoed from deep within the forest.
Growls.
Screeches.
Heavy footsteps.
Several times during the night, Kaelen heard something massive moving through the darkness beyond the trees.
He didn’t dare sleep on the ground.
Using the survival knowledge granted by the system, he climbed a thick tree overlooking the small clearing and tied himself to a branch with rope from his survival kit.
Even then, sleep barely came.
Every sound kept him alert.
Every movement in the darkness made his hand tighten around the iron sword resting across his lap.
At one point during the night— he saw glowing eyes beneath the trees.
Dozens of them.
Watching silently.
Kaelen remained completely still while cold sweat covered his back.
The creatures circled the clearing for several minutes before finally disappearing deeper into the forest.
Only after sunrise did he finally relax.
“This place is insane…” he muttered tiredly.
Back on Earth, forests were dangerous.
But Kaelrith felt different.
Wild.
Untamed.
Like humans did not belong here.
Kaelen climbed down from the tree slowly, his muscles aching from the cold night.
The morning air bit against his skin while fog spread across the forest floor.
He exhaled deeply and looked around his surroundings.
The small fire pit.
The stream nearby.
The massive trees surrounding him.
This tiny clearing was the only safe place he currently had.
And safety mattered.
Because for the first time since arriving…
Kaelen understood something important.
He wasn’t playing a game.
If he failed here— he would die.
No second chances.
No extra lives.
Real death.
Kaelen clenched his fists.
Then his eyes hardened with determination.
“Then I’ll survive.”
The first thing he needed was shelter.
Sleeping in trees every night was impossible long-term.
Thankfully, the survival knowledge inside his head gave him clear understanding of basic construction methods.
The problem was— he was alone.
A twelve-year-old malnourished child.
Building anything would take enormous effort.
Still, Kaelen had no choice.
He grabbed a crude stone axe from his beginner kit and approached a nearby tree.
The tree itself was taller than any he had seen on Earth.
Kaelen sighed.
“…This is going to take forever.”
THUNK.
The axe struck wood.
THUNK.
THUNK.
His weak arms quickly burned with pain.
Sweat rolled down his face despite the cold weather.
But he continued.
Hour after hour.
Resting.
Cutting.
Dragging branches.
Slowly gathering materials.
It was exhausting work.
Yet strangely…
Kaelen enjoyed it.
Back on Earth, his life had become nothing but stress, competition, and endless business pressure.
Here, despite the danger— everything felt simple.
Survive.
Build.
Grow stronger.
The clear purpose calmed his mind.
By afternoon, hunger returned violently.
Kaelen wiped sweat from his forehead and grabbed his sword.
Food first.
The forest was alive with movement.
Birds flew between branches while distant animal cries echoed constantly.
Thanks to the survival knowledge, Kaelen had become much better at tracking.
He followed fresh hoofprints through muddy ground before eventually spotting a small deer drinking from a stream.
Kaelen slowly crouched behind bushes.
His breathing became steady.
The sword felt natural in his hands now.
Not perfect.
But familiar.
Peak talent.
The system reward was already showing its effects.
Kaelen moved silently through the undergrowth.
Then—
SNAP.
A branch broke beneath his foot.
The deer instantly fled.
“Damn it!”
Kaelen chased after it instinctively.
Branches whipped against his face as he ran deeper into the forest.
The deer vanished quickly.
But Kaelen suddenly stopped.
Every instinct screamed danger.
The forest had gone silent.
Too silent.
Then he heard breathing behind him.
Heavy breathing.
Kaelen slowly turned.
And froze.
A massive black wolf stood only several meters away.
No— not a wolf.
This thing was enormous.
Its shoulders reached nearly Kaelen’s chest.
Dark fur covered its muscular body while yellow eyes stared at him like a predator examining prey.
The beast growled softly.
Kaelen’s blood turned cold.
“…Direwolf?”
The creature slowly stepped forward.
Kaelen tightened his grip on the sword.
His hands trembled.
He had practiced swinging the blade for days now.
But practice was different from reality.
This thing could kill him instantly.
The wolf lunged.
“SHIT!”
Kaelen barely rolled aside as massive claws tore through the ground where he had stood.
He swung the sword wildly.
The blade cut across the beast’s shoulder.
Blood splashed onto the snow.
The wolf roared furiously.
Kaelen stumbled backward breathing heavily.
His heart pounded violently.
Fear gripped him.
Real fear.
The wolf attacked again.
This time Kaelen reacted faster.
His body moved instinctively.
The sword slashed upward.
The beast narrowly avoided a fatal strike.
Still— its claws ripped across Kaelen’s arm.
“AHH!”
Pain exploded through him.
Kaelen fell hard against a tree.
The wolf prepared to leap again.
At that moment— something inside Kaelen changed.
His breathing steadied.
His eyes sharpened.
Peak talent.
The world suddenly felt clearer.
The wolf’s movements became easier to predict.
The moment it jumped—
Kaelen stepped sideways.
Then thrust.
The sword pierced deep into the beast’s neck.
The direwolf collapsed violently beside him.
Silence returned.
Kaelen stared at the dead creature while breathing heavily.
Then his legs gave out beneath him.
“…I almost died…”
His injured arm burned painfully.
If he had reacted even slightly slower— he would be dead right now.
Kaelen looked at the massive corpse beside him and slowly realized something terrifying.
If creatures like this existed near the outer forest…
then what lived deeper inside Kaelrith?
That night, after painfully dragging meat back to camp, Kaelen opened the system interface for the first time since arriving.
A glowing map appeared before him.
His eyes widened immediately.
The continent was gigantic.
Mountain ranges stretched across enormous regions while forests, rivers, lakes, and unexplored territories covered thousands of kilometers.
Compared to Westeros and Essos—
Kaelrith was smaller.
But not by much.
And most importantly— it was isolated.
Ocean surrounded the continent from every direction.
An entire world waiting to be conquered.
Kaelen zoomed further into the map.
Red zones appeared deep within forests and mountains.
Danger regions.
Monster territories.
Even from the map alone, some areas felt terrifying.
Then he noticed something else.
A tiny glowing dot near the western forest.
His current position.
He was almost exactly in the center of the continent.
Kaelen leaned back slowly.
“So I’m in the middle…”
That meant reaching any coastline would take months.
Maybe years.
He stared at the giant map while the fire crackled nearby.
Despite the danger…
despite nearly dying today…
excitement slowly rose inside him again.
This continent was his.
Every forest.
Every mountain.
Every river.
Every hidden ruin.
All of it.
Kaelen looked toward the dark wilderness beyond the firelight.
Then he smiled.
A dangerous smile.
“I may be weak now…”
“But one day…”
“I’ll build the strongest empire this world has ever seen.”
The cold wind howled through the trees.
Kaelen raised the sword and practiced beneath the moonlight once more.
Again.
And again.
And again.
Each swing became smoother.
Sharper.
More natural.
Peak talent transformed his growth speed into something monstrous.
During the following days, Kaelen established a routine.
Morning:
hunt for food.
Midday:
train swordsmanship.
Afternoon until sunset:
gather wood and build shelter.
Slowly, painfully— a small wooden house began taking shape beside the stream.
It wasn’t impressive.
Just rough logs tied together with primitive construction methods.
But to Kaelen…
it was proof.
Proof that he could survive here.
Proof that Kaelrith could become something greater.
And every night, as he stared at the endless stars above the ancient continent—
Kaelen’s ambition grew larger and larger.
One day…
The world would know the name Kaelrith.
