“Exclusive: The marriage between the musical heiress of Ravenwoods and the heir of Lawrence.
Click to know who the bride and the groom are!”
The online news articles ran wild after Lara signed the deal.
Lily checked the online news article on her tablet while slouching away her evening on the living room sofa.
She quickly checked the news article and clicked it.
She scrolled down to the names the article had written and froze.
“Lara Ravenwood.
Eldest daughter of the CEO of Carter Music Label.
She was raised in the countryside due to her unique constitution and is now engaged…”
“Honey!” Lily got out of the sofa and rushed upstairs to her husband’s study.
“Honey,” she bang opened the door and saw her husband, wearing reading glasses and checking documents.
Issac raised his head to check who it was and said, “What happened?” through his eyes.
“Honey, Adrian was right.
The Ravenwoods have swapped the bride.” Lily said.
Coincidentally, Issac’s phone rang.
It was Abel, his father.
“Hello,” Issac greeted.
“Yes, I have heard.”
“When was this decided?”
“Today morning?”
“Seriously?”
“Ok.
I’ll inform everyone about it.”
“Take care.”
Lily waited patiently for the conversation to finish.
By the glimpses, she had an idea, but a clear explanation is always the best.
“Did, by any chance, Adrian know this woman called Lara Collins?” Issac asked.
“I don’t know.
Adrian is not the kind of kid who tells everything about his life to his family.
Neither is Simon.
They take the action and tell us.
Like someone here.” Lily jabbed at Issac.
Issac ignored the jab and said, “Adrian had sent a picture of Lara Collins yesterday morning.
He was the one who told Uncle Arnold about Lara’s existence.”
“What!
Exactly what is this boy thinking?” Lily slammed the desk.
“And by some heavenly luck of Adrian, Kevin happened to see Lara and illegally got a paternity test done by stealing blood donated by Lara.
Now, Uncle Arnold somehow managed to arrange the marriage between Lara and Adrian,” Issac said.
“Did he threaten that poor child?” Lily asked.
“Probably.
After all, she needs money for her grandmother’s surgery, even if she has some substantial amount.” Adrian interrupted the conversation.
He was leaning on the door and munching on an apple.
“I don’t know what kind of sorcery you have pulled.
You better treat your future wife right.
You literally got her into a mess she had no way of entering,” Lily said.
“Do you know this Lara personally?” Issac asked.
“Obviously.
Otherwise, why would I bother making some random woman as my wife?” Adrian said and left before they questioned him any further.
“Honey, run a background check on Lara.
Also check whether she has any underground connections.” Lily asked, a sudden clarity hitting her.
“By the way, have you even seen this Lara’s face?” Issac asked.
“No.
The article doesn’t have her face,” Lily said.
“Adrian.
Adrian.
Adrian Lawrence!
You better come here at once at your dad’s study immediately with a photo of Lara,” Lily shouted in the house.
“Or else what?” Adrian came anyways.
“Picture?
Let your parents at least see who this young woman is,” Lily said.
“I am 80 per cent sure you are going to do a background check on her.
Let me tell you, if you find something you don’t like, bury your disapproval.
It’s the best for you.”
Adrian handed over a picture of Lara he shot while she was busking in the streets.
“I warned you,” Adrian shrugged and left the room.
Issac took the photo and stared at the familiar face.
Not only did Lara look like late Aunt Janet, but he had seen her somewhere in the illegal race circuits.
Back when he used to organise the matches.
Issac dialled a number on his phone.
“Hello Gabriel?”
“Yes, it’s me.
I’ll send you a picture.
Find her relation to the race circuit.”
“Trust me.
My gut feelings tell me I have seen her somewhere in the races.”
“Yeah, sure.
Contact me as soon as you get something about her.”
Issac clicked a picture of the photograph of Lara and sent it to Gabriel.
Instantly, his phone rang again.
“Yes, hi.”
“Yui?
Are you sure it’s not Lara?”
“That’s true, though.”
“Yes.
As soon as you can.
Thanks, man.”
Lily looked at Issac, all bewildered.
“Yui?
I have heard that name before,” she said.
“When?” Issac asked.
“I don’t know, like last year.
Around the time of Adrian’s crash, there was this girl.
All masked but had really pretty features.
They kept calling her, Yui.
She was the one Adrian was racing against.
She was really crying at that time.
She was the one who got Adrian to the hospital.” Lily pondered and replied.
“That girl kept apologising about the crash to me.
She even offered to pay.
But honestly, Adrian’s injury was really minor compared to his previous crashes.
I had told her to not worry and go back home, because it was really late for a girl to stay outside.
That’s all I remember the interaction was.”
“How did you find her, personality-wise, the masked girl?” Issac said.
“Polite and honest.
Well-mannered as well.
I was really surprised that a girl like that was spending time in racetracks.
Back then, I thought she was some kind of thrill-seeking, lonely girl who happens to love cars and engineering.” Lily said.
“If she is the one our son is marrying, I have no problem with it,” Lily said.
as she sat on the chair across from Issac.
“Why so?” Issac asked.
“They both are very lonely people.
And just by some weird way, they are tuned to each other.
That day, I was watching the match,” Lily shared.
“Lily!” Issac said, angry that she went there.
“I know.
I know that’s unsafe.
I went there because I wanted to see our son race.
He’s a really good racer, and so is Yui.
They really were so in sync that it felt less like a race and a love confession.
It really was envious seeing them driving like that,” Lily said, melancholic.
It’s kind of my new favourite song by her.
