(Bonus Chapter) The dust of the Titanomachy had finally settled, and authority over the world now rested in the hands of Zeus and the new Olympian gods.
A new order rose from the ruins and triumph of war.
Yet not every deity rushed to immerse themselves in the celebrations of this new age.
The blue-haired god who had claimed dominion over the seas through the drawing of lots remained on land only briefly before diving straight into the azure embrace that had been calling to him all along.
As for the minor “deception” surrounding the lottery… Poseidon merely laughed it off.
To him, it was like watching children squabble over a game.
Since the ocean had always been destined to become his kingdom, he had no interest in lingering on Mount Olympus to watch Zeus distribute titles and balance the competing factions of the gods.
He would rather return to the realm that truly belonged to him.
First things first… I need a proper home.
According to the myths, my palace is supposed to stand in the deep sea near Euboea.
The Cyclopes’ craftsmanship is excellent—I should ask them to build it as soon as possible.
As Poseidon descended into the endless blue, the surrounding seawater seemed to come alive, wrapping itself around him like flowing armor.
Within that world where darkness and shimmering light intertwined, countless beings had already gathered in anticipation.
Ancient sea beasts of enormous size gently swayed their tails, stirring currents that reflected their submission.
Ocean nymphs shimmered through the water in graceful groups, their translucent garments drifting like glowing jellyfish.
Lesser sea gods, river spirits, spring nymphs, and countless aquatic beings densely filled every stretch of water as far as the eye could see.
None of them had been summoned.
They had gathered willingly to welcome the new sovereign who had displayed overwhelming might during the Titanomachy and earned the favor of Oceanus, the Primordial Sea.
“Congratulations on your triumphant return, Lord Poseidon!” “The ocean welcomes its king!” Countless voices merged into a mighty tide that washed through Poseidon’s consciousness.
He had expected this.
After watching Zeus carefully cultivate his prestige and influence throughout the war, he had long anticipated such a reception.
He gave a slight nod.
His azure eyes swept across the vast kingdom before him, and a profound sense of belonging surged through his heart as the immense authority of the sea flowed through his veins.
“I, Poseidon, from this day forward, am the sole sovereign of the endless ocean and every waterway beneath heaven.” His voice carried the majesty of the abyss itself, reaching every marine creature across the world.
“Hear my decree.” “For seven days and seven nights, let the seas celebrate.” “Let every drop of water, every current, and every coral reef know that a new king has ascended.” The moment his decree was spoken, the entire ocean erupted with life.
A celebration unlike any before began beneath the waves.
Glowing plankton gathered into brilliant rivers of light that stretched across the seabed like festive ribbons.
The songs of colossal whales blended with the haunting melodies of sirens, creating an eternal symphony that echoed throughout the deep.
Ocean nymphs collected rare delicacies and exotic fruits from every corner of the sea, arranging them into magnificent underwater feasts.
Poseidon allowed himself to enjoy the celebration.
Yet beneath the joyous atmosphere, he sensed a faint current of discord.
The gods, nymphs, and spirits of the sea had already acknowledged his rule.
The mortals upon the land, however, were another matter entirely.
The surviving people of Kronos’s age—the so-called Golden Race—continued to cling stubbornly to the old order.
They had once been blessed directly by Kronos.
They knew neither hunger nor disease.
Neither scorching heat nor bitter cold troubled them.
Unless slain through violence or divine intervention, they would never grow old.
Because those blessings came from Kronos himself, their loyalty to the former King of the Gods bordered on fanaticism.
Many still worshipped Pontus, the Primordial Sea.
As for Poseidon… Some had never even heard of him.
Others dismissed him entirely.
Faith from mortals…?
During a quiet moment in the festivities, Poseidon sensed the resistance spreading across the land.
He merely raised an eyebrow.
That’s hardly worth worrying about.
Zeus will never ignore it.
No one cares more about faith and divine authority than he does.
For Poseidon, mortal faith was useful—but hardly essential.
The ocean itself… And the ever-growing authority of the Sea King within him… Those were the true foundations of his strength.
Compared to those stubborn relics of the Golden Age, the sea before him demanded far more immediate attention.
It desperately needed order.
So he pushed thoughts of mortal faith aside and turned to the duty of ruling his kingdom.
The first task… Was establishing order.
Unfortunately, the state of the ocean was nothing short of chaos.
“Tsk…” “This isn’t an ocean.” “It’s a playground for monsters.” His divine senses swept across the endless waters, making him rub his forehead.
Gigantic sea monsters hunted one another throughout the abyss, the waves generated by their battles powerful enough to shatter entire islands.
Sirens lured wandering sailors—and sometimes even people living along the coast—into the depths with their enchanting songs, draining away their life force or reducing them to mindless puppets.
Many ocean spirits and monsters outside the lineages of the Nereids and Oceanids viewed hunting and drowning mortals as little more than entertainment.
Under Pontus’s almost completely hands-off rule, survival of the fittest had become the ocean’s only law.
But this was not the freedom Poseidon desired.
Deep within his memories existed another vision of the sea.
A vast blue realm.
Peaceful.
Profound.
Overflowing with life.
Governed by order rather than chaos.
That was the ocean he wished to create.
So Poseidon began his reforms.
His first act was to revoke the sea monsters’ inherent ability to manipulate local waters freely and summon storms at will.
Next, his authority spread inland through every river, every spring, every well, and every underground waterway, gradually extending his dominion over the river gods, water spirits, and nymphs who dwelled within them.
Finally, he engraved an Oceanic Edict into the fundamental laws of the world itself through the authority of the Sea God.
Its core principles were simple: Territorial boundaries.
Forbidden acts.
The Etruscan Sea… The great whirlpool near the Nile Delta… And portions of the deep waters east of Crete… These regions were officially designated as Sea Monster Territories.
Sea monsters were forbidden from leaving those domains without permission.
Likewise, they were strictly prohibited from attacking human vessels without cause.
Even more importantly, they were forbidden from strengthening themselves through indiscriminate slaughter and cannibalism.
The instant the decree was established, every powerful sea monster in existence felt as though invisible chains had settled upon them.
