(2nd Bonus Chapter) Deep within the ocean, before Poseidon’s palace, the currents stirred once more.
An elegant figure quietly emerged from the water.
It was Metis.
The Goddess of Wisdom—Zeus’s most trusted companion and strategist—had personally ventured into the deep sea on behalf of Olympus.
She wore a light-blue gown designed for ease of movement, while her flame-red hair stood out vividly against the dark blue waters.
Her beautiful face remained calm and composed.
“Poseidon, I come on behalf of Olympus—and my husband, Zeus—to express our gratitude.” Poseidon glanced at her and replied casually, “Hmph.
There’s no need for thanks.
The Golden Race—or rather, those relics who refuse to keep up with the times—were always destined to be swept away.” “Just like the old god following you.” Metis froze.
She had absolute confidence in her stealth.
With the concealment granted by her father, Oceanus, she had been certain no one could have tracked her.
Yet Poseidon exposed it with a single sentence.
Almost the moment he finished speaking, the seawater beside Metis silently parted like a curtain.
A tall goddess slowly stepped forward, radiating an ancient, mysterious aura.
She wore a primitive dark-green robe that seemed woven from the oldest currents of the abyss.
Her long hair flowed like deep-sea kelp, while her beautiful features were shrouded in the cold resentment forged by countless ages.
It was none other than one of the primordial sea deities— Eurynome.
“As expected of the new Sea King whom even Oceanus regards differently,” she said calmly.
“Your perception truly is remarkable.
You saw through my concealment the instant I arrived.” “How could I not recognize the stale scent of an ancient sea god?” Poseidon looked at her indifferently.
“Now that Pontus—that old fossil who should’ve remained buried in the dust of history—has stepped back onto the stage, it was only a matter of time before someone who bears such deep hatred for him appeared.” “Deep hatred…” Eurynome repeated the words softly.
A venomous expression surfaced on her beautiful face, and the surrounding seawater seemed to grow noticeably colder.
“I have come to settle the blood debt… and the humiliation of those years.” “What?
Do you think fate will once again stand with that despicable thief?” “There’s no need to ask questions you already know the answer to.” Poseidon spread his hands.
“It would hardly be gentlemanly to force a noble goddess to recount the most painful chapter of her life.” “I already know why you’ve come.” Metis, standing nearby, was even more astonished.
She had not only failed to notice Eurynome’s approach, but now she had learned the identity of this ancient goddess—and the depth of the hatred she carried.
Eurynome.
One of the primordial deities who had once fought Pontus for dominion over the seas.
A being even older than most Titans.
“Daughter of Oceanus, Metis, greets the noble Goddess Eurynome.” Metis immediately bowed respectfully.
Regardless of Eurynome’s current standing, her antiquity and former glory deserved reverence.
“Hmm… Oceanus’s child.” Eurynome’s gaze settled upon Metis, the chill in her eyes softening slightly.
“I’ve heard you’re now assisting that young god called Zeus.” “Yes, Goddess.” Metis nodded respectfully.
“I serve Zeus, Lord of the Sky and Olympus, with all my heart.” “No need to be nervous, child.” Eurynome gently shook her head.
“Although you carry Oceanus’s blood, I bear him no hatred.” “He is merely another unfortunate soul—suppressed and manipulated by Father God…” She was referring to Pontus.
“…and plotted against by his own brothers.” “The only one I have ever hated…” “…is that despicable Pontus!” The hatred in her voice was so genuine that it seemed capable of freezing the surrounding sea solid.
According to legends so ancient that even they had begun to fade, Eurynome had once been overthrown by Kronos and Rhea, falling into the abyss alongside her consort, Ophion.
But in this altered world, shaped by Poseidon’s existence, the truth was even darker.
Because of Pontus’s schemes, Ophion had been forced to become nothing more than the fragile ribbon encircling the world, stripped of both form and spirit, existing in name alone.
Eurynome herself had barely escaped with her life after enduring countless hardships.
Worse still, malicious rumors claimed that, simply to humiliate her completely, Pontus had deliberately given the name “Eurynome” to the lowest-ranking sea nymphs, as well as one of Oceanus’s neglected daughters, reducing the once-glorious name of a primordial goddess to something common and insignificant throughout the seas.
Given Pontus’s vindictive and insidious nature, what he had done during their struggle for dominion over the ocean was almost too horrifying to imagine.
“Poseidon.” She turned toward him, the hatred in her eyes giving way to resolute determination.
“Grant me this one request.” “I cannot endure sharing the same sea beneath the same sky with that disgusting wretch.” “Every additional second is a stain upon my soul.” Poseidon silently met her gaze.
He understood this kind of hatred.
It had not faded with time.
Instead, it had only grown stronger.
Moreover, the current rebellion clearly bore signs of deliberate manipulation.
Pontus was undoubtedly the prime suspect.
“Very well.” Poseidon nodded.
“I accept your request.” “As long as you distinguish yourself in this battle, I promise that Pontus will become nothing more than a remnant spirit scattered across the sea—never to reincarnate again.” “Excellent!” A brilliant light flashed across Eurynome’s eyes.
“I, Eurynome, shall remember this favor.” Before her words had fully faded, her body dissolved into rippling water, vanishing into the surrounding sea.
She had no interest in empty pleasantries or reopening old wounds.
She wanted only one thing— To reach the battlefield as quickly as possible… …and personally cut down the enemy she had hated for countless ages.
Once she departed, only Poseidon and Metis remained.
Metis gazed toward the direction where Eurynome had disappeared.
Feeling the increasingly terrifying fluctuations of divine power in the distance, she sighed softly.
“The battle seems far more brutal than Olympus originally anticipated…” “Naturally.” Poseidon’s eyes turned cold as he looked toward the heart of the battlefield.
“The one manipulating everything from the shadows is Pontus.” “That old madman has lived for who knows how many ages.” “His mind has long since become twisted.” “Someone like him no longer has any sense of restraint.” “But according to the reports we received…” Metis hesitated.
“…everything appears to be orchestrated by your sea nymph, Thetis.” “You’ll know the truth the moment you see the battlefield yourself.” Poseidon gave a faint smile.
“Whether it’s that ‘innocent and impulsive’ sea nymph pulling the strings…” “…or some ancient relic hiding in the shadows and playing filthy tricks…” “…the battlefield won’t lie.” Metis fell silent.
If Poseidon’s speculation proved true… Then her niece, Thetis, who had been pushed to the forefront, was a tragic pawn.
“Poseidon.” She raised her head.
“I wish to join the battle as well.” “If innocent children have truly been caught up in this, I cannot simply stand aside.” “And…” She paused, looking slightly helpless.
“Before I left, Zeus specifically instructed me to represent Olympus…” “…and, well…” “…to make you owe us a few favors.” Even the wise Goddess of Wisdom rarely showed such an exasperated expression.
Poseidon couldn’t help but laugh.
“Alright, alright…” “You two really are something.” “Then let’s count this as one favor owed to Olympus.” As Oceanus’s daughter, Metis possessed considerable authority over the sea.
Combined with her title as the Goddess of Wisdom—which was far more than mere ornament—her strength and tactical insight would undoubtedly prove invaluable on the battlefield.
“Thank you.” Metis nodded without another word.
Soft blue divine light rippled around her.
With a graceful movement, her form transformed into a sleek, pale-blue giant shark that sliced through the deep waters, disappearing toward the battlefield like a streak of lightning.
