Vivian slammed the cafeteria door beside her, as she walked out. She didn’t give a fuck who was watching her, or who heard her cursing out loud.
"That clown," she hissed, walking down the hallways. "Stupid, arrogant prick."
Her chest hurt from how angry she was. The rage completely took over.
A girl who clearly chooses her partners based on the size of what is in their pants.
Wyatt’s voice kept replaying in her head.
He had looked at her like she was some shameless girl who went around measuring men by what they could offer her.
Who does he think he is to judge me?
He doesn’t know a thing about me or the hell I’ve crawled through to get here. Now he thinks he has rights to drag my name through the mud like I’m some cheap, clout-chasing whore.
She wasn’t here to play nice with Wyatt or Jeffrey. She wasn’t here for their little academy drama. She was here to get strong. She was here to find out why the hell the Sentinels and Guides abandoned humanity to die in her past life.
She wiped a tear off her cheek with the back of her hand, pissed that it had even escaped.
She had already lost everything once. She had already watched her world burn. She wasn’t going to let these assholes ruin her second chance.
Vivian spun around and looked back down the corridor one last time. She felt a strange energy in the air. She dismissed it and walked out of the building.
Inside the cafeteria, nobody moved. The entire room went silent.
A few students remained frozen at their tables, staring at Wyatt with their mouths open. Others were moving toward the exits,
whispering among themselves as they tried to figure out what had just happened.
Rice and sauce clung to Wyatt’s hair, slowly dripping onto his shoulders.
Hundred students were staring at him, watching the most terrifying guy in the academy get humbled.
A first-year, D-Class Guide had just disrespected him. She didn’t just talk back. She dumped a whole tray of food on his head, turned around, and walked away like he wasn’t even worth it.
Her face hadn’t even shown fear, just a nonchalant detachment that left him stunned.
Are Guides supposed to be this cold? Wyatt wondered. Guides were supposed to be soft. They were supposed to be submissive, gentle creatures who existed to soothe a Sentinel’s energy.
Instead, his enhanced Sentinel hearing picked up her footsteps down the hallway. He heard everything. He heard the curse words she muttered, calling him a stupid arrogant prick. He heard the faint sound of tear hitting as she wiped her face in the empty corridor.
I went too far, he slowly realized it. In the academy, everyone praised his power, feared his silence, and agreed with every word that came out of his mouth.
He lived in an echo chamber and because of that, he had never had anyone stand up to him before, especially not a Guide.
He had honestly been genuinely surprised that his words were blunt and could actually hurt someone enough to make them embarrass him this badly in public. He hadn’t realized the weight of what he was said until she shattered his pride to call out his wrong actions.
His hands, resting on the table, slowly gripped the edge of the wooden table so hard the wood started splitting.
Then, his power completely snapped.
Wyatt wasn’t even trying to control it anymore. He wanted to feel the destruction, and inflict pain on himself. He wanted to tear something apart because his chest felt strangely tight.
The fork beside his plate slowly lifted from the table. The cafeteria tables started to rattle.
Logan jumped, widening his eyes in panic. "Hey, Wyatt! Control it!"
No response.
Wyatt stared at the doors Vivian had disappeared through, clenching his jaw tightly. The tray hovering beside him suddenly shot across the cafeteria. It slammed into the wall and fell to the floor in pieces. Several students screamed.
"Wyatt!" Logan snapped, grabbing Adrian’s hand and pulling him behind him to protect him. "Come on babe, we gotta go before he drops the roof on us."
Chairs lifted into the air. Cutlery rattled against plates before shooting upward. The windows trembled. A glass shattered. Then another.
"Everyone out!" Logan shouted, waving his arms. "Now! Move, move!"
The students scrambled toward the doors, screaming as chairs drifted above their heads.
Adrian stood, watching Wyatt carefully from a distance. "This isn’t a normal overload," he said quietly, holding Logan’s wrist. "His energy is responding to his emotions."
Wyatt’s telekinetic energy continued to spread through the room. Even the large metal serving counter began to shake.
But before Logan and Adrian could run, Jeffrey walked straight up to the table, his own S-Class energy was flaring up like a shield. He grabbed Wyatt’s arm tightly. "That is enough! Drop it right now. You’re going to destroy the whole cafeteria!"
Wyatt’s glowing silver eyes snapped to him.
Logan shook his head , stumbling back. "Oh, great."
Jeffrey’s eyes moved toward the cafeteria doors.
Vivian.
Somehow, this was about her.
He didn’t know what had happened between them, but he’d never seen Wyatt react like this to anyone. But right now, Wyatt was acting desperate. He was throwing a tantrum because of her.
Jeffrey dropped his voice into a whisper, pushing back against Wyatt. "I told you to let it go! You’re going to hurt everyone!"
Wyatt’s chest heaved. He looked at Jeffrey’s furious face, then glanced down at the hand gripping his arm. He slowly realized the damage he had caused, glancing around the room.
Wyatt suddenly wrenched his arm free, sending the floating chairs and tables back to the ground all at once.
Without saying a word, he shoved his hands into his pockets and walked out of the cafeteria.
Logan watched him go before looking at the destroyed cafeteria, then snapped his head toward the door.
Adrian glanced up at Logan. "You should probably stop Wyatt before he finds Vivian."
Logan’s expression changed instantly as he realized it. "Oh no. He must not go after her."
He immediately started running after him.
