“Are we going to rob him?”

“Of course not,” Su Wenshan explained. “That is a young master. Don’t look at how easy he seems to bully right now; once we’re out of the training ground, crushing us would be as easy as crushing two ants.”

“We’ll follow him, see if anyone else tries to rob him, and then lend a hand. Considering we helped, asking for a tag shouldn’t be too difficult, right?”

“Okay!” This approach could also reduce the psychological pressure on the Beta, so he naturally raised both hands in agreement.

As for Su Wenshan, he naturally saw an opportunity for cooperation.

The young master’s bodyguard was gone, and the two of them could take the opportunity to climb higher.

As for the tag needed for the selection, he hadn’t given up on that either.

Meanwhile, Young Master Mu successfully shook off his pursuers.

The tag he had worked so hard to get was now down to just one.

He didn’t even have time to feel the heartache; in that situation, cutting off one’s wrist to survive was the only choice.

Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been so easy for him to slip away.

Right now, he was facing a bit of trouble.

Not only could he not find his companions, but he had also lost his bearings in this complex maze of buildings.

Like a frightened bird, Young Master Mu quickly slipped into the nearest shop to hide the moment he heard what sounded like footsteps.

It was a chaotic little supermarket with empty shelves and shattered packaging littering the floor.

Young Master Mu could only curse his luck inwardly.

This was hardly a good hiding place; one careless step and a crunching sound would give him away.

Yet there was no time left for him to find another spot, as those footsteps were drawing closer and closer.

Scanning his surroundings, Young Master Mu gritted his teeth and ducked beneath the checkout counter.

He could only pray the newcomer wouldn’t search too carefully.

If he were found, fighting it out would be his only option.

Right now, however, he really wasn’t in a position to fight.

Even more so, he could not give up the chance to become a trainee!

Everyone in his family had opposed his participation in the selection.

His eldest brother had even dropped the warning: “If you don’t obey, I’ll break your legs.”

That older brother of his meant what he said; it certainly wasn’t an idle threat to scare him.

This was his one and only chance.

It was truly a do-or-die situation.

Clutching his weapon tightly, Young Master Mu focused every ounce of his attention.

The footsteps lingered near the entrance, making Young Master Mu’s heart leap up and down as he silently prayed for the person to leave quickly.

As if the heavens finally favored him, a moment later, the footsteps gradually drifted away and vanished completely.

Did he leave?

Young Master Mu let out a breath of relief.

After waiting a full few minutes and ensuring the surroundings were completely quiet, he finally relaxed entirely.

Who would have thought that right at that moment, a light chuckle came from right above his head?

The voice was light and chillingly close, like a ghost!

Young Master Mu froze in place, his back turning cold, his throat tasting bitter, and his scalp instantly tingling with terror!

Someone was there.

He had been discovered!

Reacting swiftly, he scrambled up to put some distance between them and took in the situation.

There were two people in total, one blocking the checkout counter and the other guarding the entrance.

It seemed this fight was unavoidable.

With that realization, he forced himself to calm down.

“Don’t be afraid, we mean no harm. Want to hide together?”

“I’ll leave this to you. I’ll go hide somewhere else,” Young Master Mu said, taking a step back.

Click.

It was an extremely faint sound, yet Young Master Mu’s heart skipped a beat. Not good!

It was the sound of a trap being triggered. Someone had set a trap beforehand right beneath this seemingly safe checkout counter!

Though he reacted quickly, it was still too late. His feet instantly lost purchase as he was hoisted up into the air by a deep grey net.

In a state of weightlessness, he couldn’t free himself immediately.

And two figures stood nearby, eyeing him like predators.

Young Master Mu felt a deep sense of defeat, captured just like that by a couple of nobody extras.

Just as his brother had said, he was utterly useless, incapable of achieving anything, let alone becoming a trainee.

“Caught a little mouse.”

The man whistled. “You’ve got decent luck. There are only three traps on this entire street; I honestly thought we’d come away empty-handed.”

Who would have thought this old-fashioned trap would actually come in handy.

Young Master Mu sighed and immediately offered, “I can hand over all the tags I have.”

As long as he could get out of this, he still had a chance.

Slim though that chance was, he didn’t want to give up.

The man chuckled. “You have tags on you? A pleasant surprise.”

What?

Young Master Mu’s heart tightened.

If they weren’t after the tags, what was this trap for?

Judging by the tone and the expression, a terrible premonition washed over him.

On the competition grounds, some fought individually while others teamed up.

Some struggled bitterly while others sailed through smoothly, full of ambition.

The man’s faction consisted of a dozen or so people, which wasn’t a small group.

Not long after entering, they had secured several tags and snatched a few more from others.

They had more than enough tags in their possession.

This smooth journey had made them arrogant, their tails practically wagging in the air.

With little time left in the competition, they had been lingering in this commercial district to kill time.

The man had used salvaged materials to set up a few traps, mostly just for kicks.

Never expected his luck to be this good, catching someone with delicate skin and tender meat.

“An Omega,” the man muttered, reaching through the mesh to pinch Young Master Mu’s backside.

“Dragon, have you lost your mind wanting an Omega so badly? This is clearly just a newly manifested Alpha.”

Sun Haolong slapped the back of the guy’s head and snapped impatiently, “I’ve slept with more Omegas than you’ve ever seen people. What do you know? This is an Omega disguised as an Alpha.”

Omegas rarely entered trainee selections, let alone ones this stunning.

Fair-skinned and gorgeous, with a pair of large, blinking eyes that made one’s heart itch.

Sun Haolong nudged the person beside him. “Go help the others out. Leave this to me.”

“There’s nothing really to help with; they already finished.”

“Get lost!”

“Boss, you aren’t thinking of doing something else?”

“Why not?”

Ding Quan grew anxious. “We’ll get caught! This is the selection grounds, there are cameras everywhere. Violating the rules…”

Sun Haolong sneered. “Give me a break.”

“The cameras in this block were installed while my older brother was watching. I know exactly where every single one is.”

“And what a coincidence, this shop happens to be in a blind spot.”

“You don’t say a word, I don’t say a word, who’s going to know I had an Omega in here?”

“But…” Ding Quan felt a chill in his heart, his gaze involuntarily drifting toward the trapped Omega.

This Omega didn’t look like the type to swallow insults in silence.

Could Dragon be planning to silence him permanently?

Scuffles broke out during selection trials all the time, but murder was no small matter.

“What are you afraid of? If anything happens, I’ll take full responsibility. It’s just an Omega, what could possibly go wrong?”

Ding Quan shut his mouth and turned to leave.

Inside the abandoned little supermarket, only an Omega trapped in a net and an Alpha slowly closing in remained.

Trembling with shock and terror, Young Master Mu felt his ears ring with fury.

This Alpha actually wanted to violate him!

This was a selection trial; how dared he!

He had anticipated that the worst outcome of this selection would be getting beaten half to death.

He truly never expected something this absurd to happen.

“Don’t you dare touch me!” Young Master Mu could no longer remain calm. “Let me go right now, my brother will kill you!”

Sun Haolong smiled. “Shh, quiet. Or would you rather die here?”

Young Master Mu’s breathing hitched.

“As an Omega, reproduction is your duty. What difference does a day sooner or later make?”

“Since you dared to come to the selection trials, it means you were mentally prepared for this, right?”

Seeing the Omega’s disbelieving expression, Sun Haolong raised an eyebrow slightly. “Did you really not know about the First Military District’s Omegas and their purpose?”

“Hahaha, you really didn’t know.”

“No worries, I’ll teach you. Once you become a trainee, I’ll come visit you often.”

Young Master Mu wasn’t listening.

Taking advantage of the man’s talking, the weapon hidden behind him had already sliced open the net.

The moment he freed himself, he dropped down mid-air and kicked straight toward the man’s face.

Who would have known the man anticipated it? Ducking aside, he delivered a vicious backhand slap.

An Alpha’s strength was no joke; that single blow nearly gave the young master a concussion.

His face grew hot and numb, dizziness washed over him, and before he could make a sound, a stream of nosebleed gushed out.

He sniffed, tears threatening to spill from his eyes.

Is this what an Alpha is?

“Stop pretending to be some chaste hero,” Sun Haolong said, cracking his knuckles loudly. “Be a good boy, and you’ll suffer less.”

When had this pampered young master ever suffered such humiliation? His eyes turned red on the spot.

A wise man doesn’t fight when the odds are against him, so he immediately shrieked at the top of his lungs, “Help!”

“Help—Mph!”

A swift grappling maneuver pinned the young Omega to the floor, his mouth clamped firmly shut by a heavy hand.

Young Master Mu cursed inwardly.

This man’s family had a bit of background, but limited.

And that was precisely where the problem lay.

Anyone with absolute zero background wouldn’t dare pull such stunts in a training trial.

And anyone with a truly towering background would recognize the Mu family.

It was this mediocre middle tier that dared to pull off such atrocities.

Sun Haolong unbuckled his belt. “I figured a little Omega like you wouldn’t dare go running your mouth about this.”

“Don’t worry, once we’re out, I’ll hook you up with perks. I won’t treat you badly.”

“Such a greedy little thing, running into a pack of Alphas before your heat even hit.”

Sun Haolong ripped off the suppression patch at the back of his neck and licked it lightly. “If you dare run your mouth outside, I’ll just say you couldn’t control yourself during your heat and went around seducing people.”

“Sound good? I’ll mark you right here, break open that reproductive cavity, and get you pregnant with a baby.”

“Hm?”

The young Omega’s eyes widened in horror as he shook his head frantically.

“You don’t have the right to refuse. Omegas should obediently stay home and pop out babies; the base’s birth rate depends entirely on you guys.”

Sun Haolong chuckled, patting his cheek. “Isn’t that why you chose to become an Omega in the first place?”

Young Master Mu’s face turned pale as paper, his lower abdomen pressed against the cold ceramic tiles, sending a bone-chilling cold straight to his core.

No, stop!

Becoming an Omega was his family’s choice; he himself didn’t know much about Alphas and Omegas.

He wasn’t ready to carry a life, let alone under circumstances like this!

“Stop screaming, or I’ll kill you.”

Sun Haolong’s grip shifted, clamping tightly around the Omega’s tender neck.

Veins bulged across the back of his hand.

If this little Omega dared to cry out for help, he guaranteed he could cut off both voice and breath in one go!
