I Actually Gave Birth to a Dragon?
Ordinary Animagus transformations were abilities acquired through training.
For example, Professor McGonagall at Hogwarts could transform into a tabby cat.
Sirius could become a large black dog.
And James, Charlie and Harry’s father, transformed into a stag.
Charlie’s Innate Animagus Physique, however, was fundamentally different.
Their Animagus forms could never become magical creatures.

I think Charlie is transforming…” “An Animagus…” James and Lily’s eyes widened.
They immediately turned toward Charlie.
But what they saw left every one of them speechless.

Was a young fire dragon.

There were many breeds of dragons, such as the Australian Antipodean Opaleye and the Norwegian Ridgeback.
James and the others had studied them during their years at Hogwarts.
Charlie’s appearance was unmistakably draconic.
The only thing they couldn’t determine was exactly which species he belonged to.

fire dragon…” Sirius swallowed hard.
“James…
Lily…” “Charlie is simply unbelievable.” “This must be what some ancient books describe as an Innate Animagus—someone born capable of transforming into magical creatures.” James slowly exhaled.
Only after a long silence did he finally recover.
He cautiously reached out and stroked Charlie.
When Charlie showed no sign of rejecting him…
The enormous weight in James’s heart finally eased.
Lily, on the other hand, threw herself around Charlie and burst into tears.
“It’s possible.” “The chances are incredibly small…” “But it certainly isn’t impossible.” James nodded, still visibly shocked.
“I just never imagined Charlie would become a fire dragon.” “I’ve never heard of anything like this.” “I agree.” Sirius’s expression turned serious.
“You absolutely must keep this a secret.” “Otherwise, Charlie will attract unimaginable disaster.” Everyone silently agreed.

Born with the ability to transform into a fire dragon.
Either one of those facts alone would be astonishing.
Combined…
It was beyond belief.
“For now…” “We won’t tell Albus either.” Lily made the decision.
She no longer felt she understood her eldest son at all.
Charlie had already shocked them far too many times.
For everyone’s safety…
Everything about Charlie had to remain secret.
Charlie raised his newly transformed claws and quietly examined himself.

Then another thought surfaced.

Charlie wriggled free from Lily’s embrace.
To his surprise, he found himself walking on all fours.
This new body felt completely different.
He slowly made his way toward a mirror.
Then stared at his reflection.

It was undeniably terrifying.

After calming himself down…
Charlie let out a low whine.
It was his way of asking his parents to bring him the food sitting on the table.

Every last bite was gone.
Charlie let out a satisfied burp.
Then something astonishing happened.
His dragon body began growing at a speed visible to the naked eye.
At first, he had only been about the size of a small stool.
Within a few breaths…
He had grown by nearly one-third.
Afterward, Charlie yawned.
Under everyone’s watchful eyes…
His dragon form gradually shrank.
Moments later…
He had returned to the appearance of a human infant.
Lily finally broke down completely.
“My baby…” “You’ve finally changed back.” She burst into tears once again.
Throughout the entire ordeal, she had feared Charlie might never regain his human form.
James and Sirius both let out enormous sighs of relief.
Meanwhile…
Charlie’s unlucky little brother Harry sat trembling in place.
Tears streamed uncontrollably from the corners of his eyes.
Instinctively, he wanted to get as far away from Charlie as possible.

Was simply too terrifying.
Unfortunately, he was still only a baby.
He didn’t have the strength to crawl away.
“James…” “I think we need to take everything about Charlie much more seriously.” Sirius sighed heavily.
In just a single day…
Charlie had shocked them over and over again.
If they hadn’t witnessed everything with their own eyes…
No one would ever believe an infant could possess so many extraordinary abilities.
He could wield a wand and cast magic.
He possessed an Innate Animagus transformation from birth.
And that transformation was into one of the most powerful magical creatures in existence—a fire dragon.
As Sirius’s words faded…
The room fell silent.
Everyone understood.
Not a single one of these secrets could ever leak.
James and Lily were already living under constant threat.
