Will quickly recounted the story of Nicolas Flamel.
“Nicolas Flamel was a legendary Alchemist who was born in the fourteenth century, yet is still alive today. He possesses world-class Alchemy, graduated from Beauxbatons, and is also a special Professor there. He’s a good friend of Professor Dumbledore, and the two of them have made many great contributions to Alchemy. Some even say he’s the greatest Alchemist in history because he created the Philosopher’s Stone.”
The young Wizards looked incredulous and couldn’t help asking questions.
“The fourteenth century? How is that possible?”
“Is he immortal?”
“What is the Philosopher’s Stone?”
The questions came one after another, and none of them could hide their shock.
“All of those questions can be answered by the Philosopher’s Stone. The Philosopher’s Stone is a magical substance with astonishing properties. One of the greatest achievements of ancient Alchemy was its creation. It can turn any metal into pure gold and produce the Elixir of Life, which can extend the life of anyone who drinks it.”
“For centuries, there have been many records and rumors about the Philosopher’s Stone, but the only known stone still in existence belongs to Nicolas Flamel. These details are recorded in Masterpieces of Ancient Alchemy.”
However, Will knew that the Elixir of Life only extended one’s life as long as it was regularly consumed.
If someone stopped taking it, they would eventually die.
But when the book had been written, Nicolas Flamel and his wife were both still alive and well, so most of the Wizarding world believed the Elixir granted true immortality.
“Oh my, a stone that can make gold!” Ron’s voice was filled with envy.
“And it can make you immortal too,” Harry added.
“No wonder Snape wants to…” Ron stopped halfway through his sentence, suddenly realizing that he had said too much, and quickly covered his mouth.
“He… ah, nothing. He confiscated my book.” Harry was about to explain, but Ron suddenly nudged him from behind.
Neville and Hermione looked at Ron and Harry, noticing Ron winking at them.
Their little exchange didn’t escape Will’s notice, but he couldn’t be bothered to pay attention to it.
Instead, he took Sylvia by the arm.
“If you don’t have anything else, we’ll leave first. Come on, Sylvia. Aren’t you hungry? It’ll be too late for dinner if we wait any longer.”
Sylvia was about to say that she had already eaten, but Will lightly pressed her arm.
She immediately understood and changed her words.
“Yes, I’m starving. Let’s go quickly, Will.”
As the two walked away, Harry asked Ron in confusion, “Why didn’t you let me tell Will? He’s not like the other Slytherins. If it weren’t for Will, we wouldn’t even know who Nicolas Flamel was, let alone that Snape’s target is the Philosopher’s Stone.”
“Harry, they’re Slytherins! If they find out that Snape is trying to steal the Philosopher’s Stone, Snape might find out that we know!” Ron whispered urgently.
“Oh my, just think about what Snape said in class the other day. ‘Pot-ter! Weasley! If you two keep making up stories about Professors in class, I’ll let you taste Veritaserum.’ What if he gives Veritaserum to Behrens and that Lestrange?”
This time, the others thought Ron had a point.
Only Hermione frowned.
She felt that something about Will’s reaction just now hadn’t been quite right.
Both Will and Sylvia smelled faintly of smoke, and Sylvia had mentioned that she and Will sometimes went to the lake together to grill fish.
Was she really hungry?
“Why didn’t you let me ask him? Weasley’s reaction was so strange.”
“They don’t want us to know, so why bother? Besides, I’m not interested in other people’s secrets.”
Sylvia completely believed Will’s explanation.
He wasn’t someone who cared much about other people’s private affairs.
In fact, she had already realized that Will disliked trouble and preferred nothing more than spending his time leisurely reading.
“Do you want to go to the Room of Requirement? I had it create a very comfortable reading room.”
“Of course!”
Sylvia walked ahead with a grin, completely unaware of the change in Will’s expression.
Why didn’t Will want to know their “secret”?
Naturally, he had his own reasons.
Dumbledore was constantly focused on nurturing the Savior.
Should he really know too much?
Should he get too involved?
He had already attracted Dumbledore’s attention.
If he became deeply entangled in the Savior’s training plan, it would bring him no real benefit.
With the experience panel, what Will needed most was time to develop.
There was no reason to involve himself in a bunch of troublesome events that offered him nothing in return.
