Surprised but happy, seeing the look of approbation from the teacher, Lux showed a slight smile but soon refocused on his spellcasting.
He was still weak and nothing anyone could say to him would change that fact.
“As you can see.” Started the professor as he addressed all of the class.
“Once you can master the levitation charm, you can make any item float.
However, you unfortunately cannot levitate living beings meaning neither animals nor humans can be levitated using this spell which is one of its restrictions.
As such, don’t expect to use it to jump down from high locations.” He said, warning them as he had seen such students in the past thinking of themselves invincible from fall damage thanks to this spell only to break both of their legs.
“Mr Arden.” He continued, this time to him alone as the others restarted their magical practice.
“When you cast the spell, make your wand wave a little quicker and equalize your spell with the movements of the wands.” He explained as he showed.
“Wingardium.” He said while completing the semi-circle of the wand movement with the ‘ium’ being called once the wand reached the highest point of the movement.
“Leviosa.” He continued, this time each syllable following a different height of the wand with the ‘sa’ being said as the wand reached a stop at the bottom of the movement.
“Do you understand?” He asked the child Minerva had talked to him about as the young boy nodded his head.
For a child who could learn and understand runes at a young age all by himself, he held no doubt that he would become a prodigy at least in ancient runes.
But even without all of this, he was obviously a hardworking little wizard as he was already advanced compared to his peers but seemed to find himself extremely lacking.
Besides, as a member of his house, he was more than happy to always help and make sure they could improve themselves.
After all, Hogwarts was a school for learning and the Ravenclaw house was especially prone to learning although some students seemed to gradually divert from this intention as time went on.
Something he had noticed over the years was the high amount of muggle students and lower amount of purebloods in their house compared to others.
Perhaps it was due to the muggle children being all hyped up by magic who were a lot more interested due to the novelty of the ability of casting spells and the magical world causing them to find a thirst for magical knowledge.
Yet, as the years went by and the students gradually became accustomed to magic, finding its novelty slowly dwindling just like their enthusiasm at learning, their attention gradually spread out causing them to lower the amount of studies they did and spending more time enjoying themselves with the other students.
Yet, this young boy, Lux Arden, according to the transfiguration professor had all but managed to study and eventually learn runes, showing great interest in them, even to the point where he managed to learn their use from nothing, something that could have caused anyone, even himself to abandon had he not known that those runes could truly unlock something.
No, this young boy had shown great enthusiasm in learning and exploration as he had been ready to waste so much time, simply trying to understand something that couldn’t have made any sense to him in the past.
So, as he looked at this young child who was obviously trying his best, he was more than ready to help him with his best capacities.
“Yes, thank you professor Flitwick.” Replied Lux as he nodded his head, finding that there were indeed some small points to improve in his spellcasting. The source of this chapter is novelping dot com.
{Wingardium Leviosa} (+12 exp)
He restarted his training, following the teachings of the professor, and it immediately started with over a dozen exp at once.
He was slowly coming closer to improving his spell to its maximum.
By the end of class, Lux opened his Runic Lexicon, looking specially for his levitation spell.
– Levitation Charm: 6901/6912
‘I’m 11 exp away from mastery, I’ll try to max it out during lunch.’ He thought while listening to the professor.
“For next class, I want you to write a foot of parchment on your understanding of the levitation spell.
Class adjourned.”
Storing his books, Lux immediately planned for his lunch break.
With an hour and a half for lunch and getting to the next class, he had more than enough time to not only eat but also complete his homework and perhaps even practice a little spellcasting as long as he was quick enough.
With a plan, he headed straight to the Great Hall, keeping his books in his necklace.
It was pretty useful to always have a storage place on him along with all of his books which prevented him from having to go up and down the castle.
Taking some food and eating at a fast pace, he left the Great Hall before most students even came back from their dormitories heading straight to the library where he would complete his homework.
The homework on the levitation charm wasn’t very difficult to complete, he simply had to think a little about it and refer to a few books in the library.
Thankfully, with the amount of grimoires in the library, there was more than enough information.
Besides, the homework wouldn’t only allow him to complete the assignment of the professor but it would also allow him to gather the information needed to finally master the spell, not that he needed much more exp.
Reading and learning, he quickly wrote on the parchment in normal cursive, not acting how he expected some students of cruising through their homeworks by directly doubling or even tripling their writing size to get rid of some space.
Finally, by 12:15, with only half of the lunch break having passed, he smiled while storing his small homework in his necklace while he turned his attention to the last matter he had to deal with during this lunch break.
His spell mastery.
{Wingardium Leviosa} (+3 exp)
{Wingardium Leviosa} (+2 exp)
Practicing his charm while walking in the corridors of the castle whenever no one was near, he slowly made his way to the greenhouses where his next classes would be held.
He was especially thrilled with his class of herbology as he had read a lot over the subjects but having lived in his cave and trying to catch up with the young pureblood wizards and those who had been aware of the magical world for years such as the half-bloods, he hadn’t had time to plant some magical plants to grow and increase his mastery.
As time slowly went by, he sat outside in the slightly cold autumn wind of the highlands of Scotland while constantly practicing his spellcasting.
He was near his mastery and this small amount of cold meant nothing to someone who survived in a cave and the oceanic winds through the coldest parts of the winter.
With his attention unable to break, he finally reached it, just in time for the next class.
A few minutes prior to the beginning, most students and even the teacher had already entered the classroom in the greenhouse, waiting for the remaining students to arrive.
Finally, his Runic Lexicon seemingly flashed at it appeared in front of his eyes, its light blue screen coming to life as it gradually unfurled to the charms section, showing the levitation charm whose experience bar gradually disappeared as if erased, leaving behind only the name of the charm he had already mastered which he moved to the completed section of the Lexicon.
During this time, his understanding of the spell seemed to change ever so slightly, giving him a perfectly organized understanding of the spell and how to use it.
There were no flashes, gifts or congratulations.
Just a simple update over the lexicon showing that he had indeed completed the training over this specific magical subject and that he could move on to the next while his memories did the rest.
This lack of reaction from the lexicon seemingly calmed down Lux who was feeling giddy after finally mastering this subject.
It was as if the Lexicon was directly mentioning how such a feat wasn’t worth mentioning and that it was nothing special.
– Levitation Charm
‘Yeah, it’s nothing, nothing special, let’s simply move on to the next.’ He thought, a small smile appearing on his face before almost immediately disappearing as his attention turned towards the greenhouse where the class would soon be starting.
He had no idea which plant they would be working on but he was ready to start improving whatever subject the teacher decided.
