In the dark alley, the ground was littered with cigarette butts.
Glenn and his two lackeys said nothing, only looking down at their watches from time to time.
Seeing the hands tick to two o’clock.
“It’s about time.
Let’s go,” Glenn called out, and his two underlings followed closely behind.
The three of them moved quietly, without making a sound.
But after taking only a dozen steps, they saw a figure standing at the mouth of the alley.
“Boss?” Nick looked at Glenn, somewhat uncertain and suspicious.
Glenn also frowned, thinking there had been some flaw in the plan he had formulated and that they had been discovered.
Was it a cop?
Or rivals looking to double-cross them?
At that moment, the dark clouds in the sky drifted away, and moonlight spilled down.
By the light of the moon, the three of them saw the newcomer clearly.
He wasn’t tall, and he wore a vintage, ornate top hat.
But looking at his face, he was clearly an underage boy—pale, thin, but handsome.
This kid could fetch a good price.
Glenn’s brow instantly smoothed out, and he sneered, “Where did this brat come from?
Out past midnight looking for death.
Nick, tie him up.
Free money is free money; we’d be fools not to take it.” “You got it, Boss.” Nick grinned and stepped forward, pulling a handkerchief soaked in chloroform from his pocket.
“Don’t be scared, kid.
If you want to blame someone, blame your own bad luck today.” “The unlucky ones are you three, aren’t they?
There is a path to heaven, yet you refuse to walk it; hell has no gate, yet you break your way in,” the boy said with a rather playful expression.
“Albus Dumbledore already let you off, but you just had to come out and seek your own death.” The boy was indeed Damon.
He had intended to come out tonight to find a few blind gang members to make some pocket money, but he hadn’t expected to run into these three guys.
It really was—what a small world.
“Brat, what rubbish are you spouting?
Have we met before?” Nick asked, bewildered.
For some reason, seeing the boy’s calm and composed manner made Nick feel strangely uneasy, and his body began to ache faintly.
“Time is precious, stop wasting your breath on him.
Hurry up and finish him off,” Glenn urged impatiently.
Hearing his boss’s order, Nick could only suppress the odd feeling in his heart.
He rushed forward in a few quick strides.
Seeing this, Damon unhurriedly took off his top hat, which instantly transformed into a snow-white rabbit.
*This kid can actually do magic tricks…* Glenn was delighted.
The more talents a piece of merchandise had, the higher the price it would fetch when sold.
But Nick couldn’t find it in himself to be happy at all.
When he rushed in front of Damon, what entered his vision was a pair of eyes glowing with an eerie red light.
The moment he saw those eyes, Nick’s head immediately began to throb.
Vaguely, he felt as if he had seen this scene somewhere before.
But the harder he tried to recall, the emptier his mind became.
However, Damon wasn’t about to give him time to reminisce.
*Boom!* With a gentle wave of Damon’s hand, searing flames transformed into a fiery dragon, wrapping tightly around Nick.
Nick didn’t even have time to scream before the terrifying heat instantly turned him to ash.
“My Fire Demon Qi…
has grown stronger.” Damon looked at his masterpiece, slightly surprised.
With the return of the Rabbit Talisman and the support of the magic power in his body, his Fire Demon Qi was more than a cut above what it had been when he first arrived in this world.
“D—Demon!
He’s a demon!” Bart, who was built like a mountain, collapsed to the ground in terror at the sight.
Blood-red eyes, flames from hell—the boy before them was clearly a demon disguised as a human.
“Get up!
Bart, there’s no such thing as demons in this world.
This is just a brat who knows how to use fire.” Glenn, who had been in the underworld for decades, didn’t believe in demons.
He only believed in the gun in his hand.
Glenn drew a Uzi submachine gun from behind his waist.
He had discovered his pistol was missing during the day, so he had specially bought this Uzi from the black market.
It was short and compact, but its firepower was far superior to his previous piece of junk.
Glenn had even bought an extended magazine for it.
“To hell with your demon crap, die!” Glenn gritted his teeth and pulled the trigger.
Bullets poured out at a rate of sixteen rounds per second, but they all struck empty air.
Damon’s figure vanished into thin air, and in the next second, he reappeared in the exact same spot.
“A demon, absolutely a demon!” Bart’s voice carried a sob; he was utterly terrified.
Dodging bullets with a mortal body was simply not something a human could do.
Glenn also panicked.
He clumsily pulled a new magazine from his pocket, reloaded, and chambered a round.
By the time he finished, the boy was already standing in front of him.
Damon placed a hand on the submachine gun, and the weapon erupted into raging flames, gradually melting.
“Aaaaargh!” Glenn’s hands were severely burned, and he let out a heart-wrenching scream.
“Shut up!
Or I wouldn’t mind turning you into a charred corpse too,” Damon said sharply.
His courage completely shattered, Glenn no longer dared to resist.
He whimpered continuously, not daring to make another sound even though the pain in his hands was excruciating.
“Very good.” Damon nodded in satisfaction.
“Rest assured, although you offended me, I am not a bloodthirsty person.
I simply want to know: how much are you willing to pay to buy back your lives?” “Everything, my Lord!” Bart, who had long since lost his wits, blurted out eagerly.
“I’m willing to give everything I have, as long as you spare my life.” “A fine resolve.” Damon nodded, turning his gaze to Glenn.
“What about you?” Glenn gritted his teeth.
He thought of the savings he had accumulated over years of risking his neck, but then he thought of his own life.
His expression was incredibly conflicted.
“Me too, my Lord,” Glenn said, feeling as though his heart were bleeding.
“A wise choice.” Damon gave a slight nod of approval.
With a flick of his hand, he sent out another burst of flame, completely reducing Nick’s charred remains on the ground to a pile of ash.
Destroying the evidence was necessary.
He didn’t want to be targeted by wizards or the Muggle government.
This scene made Glenn and Bart tremble even more in fear.
“Let’s go, gentlemen, to retrieve your ransom.” Damon placed a hand on each of their shoulders.
Once they pointed out a direction, he immediately activated the Rabbit Talisman.
In a brief instant, Damon brought Glenn and Bart back to their hideout.
Bart was the first to bring out all his savings, which amounted to only a few thousand pounds.
He trembled, “My Lord, all the money I made was spent on pleasure.
This is all that’s left.” Damon didn’t mind.
He doubted the man would dare to lie to him, and such a low-level lackey didn’t have much to squeeze anyway.
His main target was Glenn.
“If you want to say you only have this much money too, then you can go to hell ahead of schedule,” Damon said with a smile, a golden flame dancing on his fingertips as he looked at Glenn.
“Please believe in my honesty, my Lord.” With a terrible expression, Glenn walked into his room and fumbled around his bookshelf.
With the clicking sound of a mechanism, a passage actually appeared in the wall of the room.
Damon cast a surprised glance at Glenn.
This human trafficker seemed to be wealthier than he had expected.
Even Bart looked shocked.
He had followed Glenn for over a decade and lived under the same roof, yet he had never known there was a Chamber of Secrets in this house.
The three of them followed the passage into the Chamber of Secrets.
The space inside wasn’t large, containing only a bed, some living supplies, and a safe.
Reluctantly, Glenn walked over to the safe and entered the combination.
As the heavy metal door swung open, it revealed stacks of cash and numerous glittering gold bars.
With an expression of pure agony, Glenn said, “My Lord, there is £100,000 and 300 ounces of gold here.
It is all yours.” This was the wealth he had risked his life to accumulate over half a lifetime in the underworld.
He had planned to make one last big score before retiring for good and fleeing to a far-off place with this money.
He hadn’t expected to fall after all, and to fall into the hands of a demon, no less.
“Excellent!
Excellent!” The red light in Damon’s eyes flared.
Without any warning, he spun around and unleashed two bursts of flame.
The fire instantly engulfed Glenn and Bart.
“Aaaargh!
No!
Why?” The two of them let out agonized, despairing screams.
“You broke your word!
You said you would spare us!” Their voices were shrill and filled with resentment.
“I almost forgot.
You probably don’t know me well yet.
Let me introduce myself.” Damon sneered, his voice dropping to a low rumble.
“I am a noble dragon, and a demon sorcerer.
As everyone knows, I never keep my promises.”
