“We’ve found your wife.”

His brow furrowed sharply as Julian Ford held out several photos to him.

His gaze fell to the photos on the coffee table, and his face instantly darkened.

Then, he shot up from the sofa and stormed out without a backward glance.

Selena Sinclair let out a series of sneezes, grabbing a tissue from the desk and pressing it to her nose.

Beside her, Julia Dawson leaned closer and asked, “Selena, have you caught a cold?”

She blew her nose and said miserably, “Just a little chill.

It’s nothing, I should be over it in a day or two.”

“I have some cold medicine here.

Take this and brew a cup,” Ian Irving said, pulling a box of medicine from his drawer and handing it over.

“Ian Irving, thank you.”

“Don’t mention it.

We’re friends, you don’t have to be so formal.”

Selena Sinclair closed the web page, then took out two packets of the medicine and poured them directly into her cup.

Just as she was about to stand up, Ian Irving, who sat in front of her, suddenly cried out.

“Quick, look!

Camille just posted an update!”

Selena Sinclair jumped in fright, thinking something terrible had happened.

Hearing this, she couldn’t help but feel exasperated.

She walked over and poked his forehead.

“Could you stop being so dramatic?

You nearly scared me to death.”

“My idol just posted.”

He grinned at the computer screen and read the text aloud in a low voice: “First cold since my comeback.

Big thanks to my lovely colleague for the medicine.

Heart.”

He immediately left a comment.

“Idol, take care of yourself!”

Only after posting did he realize something was a bit off.

‘Why does this look so familiar?’

Julia Dawson finally couldn’t resist chiming in, “Ian Irving, you’re not planning to send your idol cold medicine, are you?

You’d better hurry.

If you’re too late, she’ll get better and your help won’t be needed.”

Selena Sinclair quietly walked to a corner nearby, wanting to get some water to mix with her medicine.

Only to find that the water cooler was unexpectedly empty.

‘Just my luck, just my luck, just my luck.’

‘I have a cold, and now there’s no hot water.’

She turned off the water cooler, told everyone it was empty, and went out to the public water station in the hallway to get water.

The public water station was next to a department on the west side.

Selena Sinclair filled a cup with water and took a light sip.

From the storage closet nearby came a woman’s voice.

The woman seemed to be making a secret phone call, her tone sharp.

Selena could hear her say, “You promised to make me the lead actress.

I’m telling you, if you go back on your word, I’ll expose everything about us.”

“Hah.

A threat?

That’s right, I’m threatening you.

If you can be unjust, don’t blame me for being ruthless.”

Selena Sinclair held her breath and listened.

Immediately, the sound of the woman furiously kicking something came from the storage closet.

Then, the woman stormed out.

When she saw Selena Sinclair, she was clearly startled.

Her steps came to an abrupt halt, and she stared at her with a strange look in her eyes.

Selena Sinclair pretended she hadn’t heard anything, poured herself some more water, and turned to leave.

“Hey!” the woman called out to her.

“Can I help you?” Selena’s heart lurched.

She stopped, clutching her water cup, and turned to ask.

‘Games with unspoken rules like this were common in the entertainment industry; she had heard so many stories about them she was sick of it.’

‘Yvonne Underwood’s career in the industry had always been lukewarm.

She’d used her pretty face to get close to numerous rich heirs, convincing them to invest in movies for her and getting herself invited to all kinds of exclusive parties.’

‘But her thoroughly unremarkable acting skills meant she never caught on—a complete waste of excellent resources.’

‘As a result, most agencies were reluctant to work with her, which made it all the more puzzling how she had ended up here at Vantage.’
