The thought that they had been working alongside Sylas Vaughn’s wife for the past few days left everyone in utter shock.
“You have ten seconds left!”
“No, Sylas Vaughn, you used to be desperate to divorce me.
Now you’ve gotten your wish and we’re divorced, so why won’t you leave me alone?”
Seeing she had no intention of leaving with him, he strode forward, hoisted her up, and slung her over his shoulder.
“Sylas Vaughn, put me down!
We’re completely divorced, Sylas Vaughn.”
Selena Sinclair was draped over his shoulder, head down and feet up.
A wave of dizziness rushed to her head, and it felt like all the blood in her body was flowing in reverse.
“Sylas Vaughn, put me down!
I can walk.
I’m dizzy, I can’t breathe.”
Selena Sinclair felt the world spin as her stomach started to churn.
Her stomach was pressed against his solid shoulder, and it was so uncomfortable she was losing the strength to even speak.
Her vision was filled with his suit and the floor receding further and further away.
THUD.
Her back slammed heavily into the car’s rear seat.
Selena Sinclair adjusted her position and reached for her lower back.
A sharp pain shot through her entire back.
An instant later, a tall figure slipped into the car.
The door was slammed shut, and she heard him say coldly, “Drive.”
Selena Sinclair propped herself up with a hand on her back, managing to lean against the car window, her face pale.
She looked at the handsome profile of Sylas Vaughn’s face and could clearly see he was still angry about what had just happened, so Selena Sinclair said nothing more.
After a while, perhaps because it was too quiet in the car, Sylas Vaughn spoke up.
“How long have you been planning this?”
“Sylas Vaughn, we are already in the process of divorcing.
Even if you don’t sign the papers, I will end our relationship through legal channels.”
Sylas Vaughn suddenly turned his head, his gaze fixed on her face as he said seriously, “Selena Sinclair, are you sure you want to take me to court?
Do you think you can win against me?”
Selena Sinclair gritted her teeth, anger flaring up inside her.
‘When I think about the Vaughn Family’s background and Sylas Vaughn’s methods…
he has the most authoritative legal team in the country on his side.
If I go to court against him, I probably don’t stand a chance.’
‘If the Sinclair Family had an heir like Sylas Vaughn, our situation wouldn’t be so dire.’
“Don’t you love Hannah Hayes?
I already said I’d step aside for her, so why are you still coming to bother me?”
Selena Sinclair thought for a moment.
Unable to bear the humiliating situation any longer, she decided to ask.
“Sylas Vaughn…”
Just as she said his name, she was about to ask him why he was unwilling to divorce her, and whether he had developed feelings for her.
But just then, the ringing of the phone in his inner suit pocket abruptly cut her off.
Sylas Vaughn pressed the Bluetooth earpiece in his right ear.
It was as if all the coldness vanished from him in an instant.
His tone became exceptionally gentle as he said, “Hello, Hannah.
Is something the matter?”
Selena Sinclair’s heart instantly sank.
It seemed he only ever showed such deep affection to Hannah Hayes.
He was never willing to give her even the slightest bit of his love.
‘But even so, why on earth does he have to come and bother me?’
“Mm, I’ll be back in about half an hour.
Wait for me at home.”
After hanging up, Sylas Vaughn remembered the question Selena Sinclair hadn’t had a chance to ask.
“What were you about to say?”
“Nothing!”
A chill washed over Selena Sinclair’s heart.
She immediately feigned a casual tone and said, “I just thought of something, but now I feel like it doesn’t matter whether I say it or not.”
‘That’s right,’ she thought.
‘He doesn’t care about me anyway, so why should I ask for trouble?’
Sylas Vaughn turned his head to look at her, his expression grim.
Selena Sinclair didn’t look back at him, but she could feel Sylas Vaughn’s gaze, sharp and piercing.
