Several days passed uneventfully.
The only thing was, Zhao Ci hadn’t drunk any nutritional broth for days, nor had he left his room.
This was starting to make Jiang Mian uneasy.
On the Star Network, news of Beastmen starving to death in their homes or on the streets was commonplace.
‘I know Zhao Ci will eventually become one of the five great Beast Masters, so he definitely won’t die here.’
Still, the conflict between them needed to be resolved.
Over the past few days, she’d gotten the feeling that while the other Beastmen’s attitudes were unclear, they no longer had any intention of killing her.
The Butterfly Beastman, however, was another story.
In the end, Jiang Mian went to the Butterfly Beastman’s door and knocked.
Naturally, no one answered.
Jiang Mian hadn’t expected the Butterfly Beastman to open the door for her anyway.
After a few symbolic knocks, she pushed the door open and went straight in.
The locks on all the Beastmen’s doors were broken, of course—the original owner of her body had kicked them in before.
So she could easily push the door open and enter.
The sight that greeted her was complete darkness.
“Zhao Ci?
Zhao Ci?” Jiang Mian called out as she fumbled for the light switch by the door.
‘The layout of every room is the same, so there should be a light by this door, too.’
But before she could find the light, her foot seemed to bump into something.
Before she could react, her ankle was suddenly seized in a tight grip.
A sharp tug sent Jiang Mian stumbling backward, and she crashed to the floor.
Her head hit the ground with a painful thud, and for a moment, it felt like she had a concussion.
The next second, a tall, slender figure loomed over her, pinning her down.
A scorching heat radiated from his body.
One of Jiang Mian’s arms was restrained, and a large hand clamped down hard on her neck.
Her breathing instantly became difficult.
Her thoughts spun sluggishly, but she quickly pieced together the Beastman’s current condition.
‘The Beastman’s body is burning hot.
He’s in a frenzy, unconscious and attacking indiscriminately.’
Jiang Mian cursed her terrible luck.
‘Why did I have to run into his frenzy today, of all days?
And from the looks of it, he’s already lost consciousness.’
‘Why else would he be trying to strangle me?’
‘If I die, he’ll have to die with me.’
Jiang Mian grabbed at the hand on her throat but couldn’t pry it off.
‘I shouldn’t have come alone.
I should have brought Rong Fei with me.’
With her throat being crushed, it was hard enough to breathe, let alone cry for help.
Jiang Mian had to change her approach.
She stopped trying to pull his hand away and instead groped in the dark, wrapping her arm around his waist.
Her palm found the base of the butterfly wings on his back.
The searing heat made her feel as if she had touched a flame.
But she couldn’t worry about that now.
As the feeling of suffocation overwhelmed her, she quickly cupped her hand over the base of his wings, and Healing Power flowed from her palm, covering them.
Jiang Mian felt the grip on her neck loosen slightly, so she stroked the base of his butterfly wings more gently.
The butterfly wings trembled slightly at her gentle touch.
The hand on her neck released completely, and Jiang Mian let out a silent sigh of relief.
But the next second, the Beastman on top of her wrapped one arm tightly around her waist and the other around her neck.
His sweat-soaked cheek pressed against hers, trapping her completely beneath him.
The massive butterfly wings on his back suddenly unfurled, enveloping the space above Jiang Mian.
They quivered slightly, and a faint, shimmering powder began to appear.
The room was too dark for her to see clearly, so she didn’t notice the faint, shimmering powder at all.
Jiang Mian’s body was pressed against his scorching, broad chest, completely pinned beneath him and unable to move.
‘I have no choice but to cure his frenzy first.’
Jiang Mian wrapped both her arms around Zhao Ci’s back, her palms touching the base of his butterfly wings, which were extremely close to his spine.
This was the most sensitive spot for a Butterfly Beastman.
Normally, when helping a Beastman recover from a frenzy, Jiang Mian would never touch this area.
But now, her hands couldn’t reach anywhere else.
This was her only option.
The butterfly wings were not pleasant to touch; it was like feeling a layer of sticky powder.
Healing Power flowed continuously from her palms.
As her palms rested on the butterfly wings, more and more shimmering powder appeared on the beautiful pair, but Jiang Mian still didn’t notice.
She felt the gentle tremor of the butterfly wings brush against her palms, as if they were being coated in a layer of sticky powder.
“Ngh…” A faint gasp sounded by Jiang Mian’s ear.
Jiang Mian stiffened.
‘So you really can’t just touch a Beastman’s sensitive spots.’
She lifted her gaze into the darkness above and finally noticed the vast expanse of shimmering powder.
It was getting brighter and brighter!
They were the Butterfly Beastman’s enormous wings, and they were now glinting with more and more golden powder.
The wings trembled, showering down flecks of gold.
The powder landed on Jiang Mian’s face, feeling sticky and fine.
A cloyingly sweet scent from the powder filled the air, like the smell of fruit-flavored candy.
When a Butterfly Beastman is courting a mate, he will make his wings exceptionally beautiful and his shimmering powder especially fragrant to attract the attention of the opposite sex.
The more powder, the stronger the desire to mate.
The richer the scent of the powder, the greater the craving—and it also had an aphrodisiac effect!
‘He’s in heat!’
Jiang Mian felt a strange pressure against her leg, saw the ever-increasing amount of golden powder, and smelled the sickeningly sweet fruit scent.
Her heart began to pound with panic.
‘The other day, when he was drugged, his wings were a gloomy purple, which meant he had absolutely no desire to mate.’
‘But now, with his mind in chaos, I touched the base of his wings, and he’s gone into heat—for me!’
Jiang Mian hastily pulled her hands back, not daring to touch the base of his butterfly wings again.
She pushed at him with all her might, her throat painfully dry.
“Zhao Ci!
Wake up!
It’s me, Jiang Mian!
The Jiang Mian you hate!”
But she was no match for the immense strength of a Beastman.
“Touch…
touch me,” Zhao Ci rasped, hugging her tightly.
His voice was incredibly hoarse and low as he placed a placating kiss on Jiang Mian’s neck.
“Wings…
hurt…
please touch…”
The heat of his frenzy left him drenched in sweat.
A drop from his forehead fell onto Jiang Mian’s long eyelashes, making it difficult for her to even open her eyes.
As Jiang Mian smelled the cloying scent of the shimmering powder, her own body grew progressively weaker and softer, and a heat began to build within her.
“Wake up, you bastard!” Jiang Mian pushed at the man on top of her, her voice weak but furious.
“Get a good look at who I am!”
‘If he wakes up and realizes what he’s done with me, this will become a blood feud, and he’ll definitely try to kill me.’
‘Besides, I don’t want to do… that… with him at all!’
