Jiang Mian waited on the living room sofa.

A short while later, Rong Fei slowly walked back in, completely alone.

Jiang Mian stood up from the sofa.

Though she had her suspicions, she still asked, “Didn’t I tell you to go get the others?

Where are they?”

Rong Fei just walked over to the sofa, his long legs resting against its white leather side.

He always carried an air of nonchalance.

Tilting his head slightly, he lifted his gaze to Jiang Mian.

“I did call for them.

But if they refuse to come, what can I do about it?”

His tone was always light, but it carried a calmness that could drive a person mad.

His beautiful silver eyes slowly landed on Jiang Mian, and for a split second, they held the cold indifference one might reserve for an inanimate object.

“Why don’t you go get them yourself, Master?”

When Jiang Mian looked at him again, the man had already averted his gaze.

That momentary coldness seemed like it had been her imagination.

“Then I’ll go invite them myself.” Jiang Mian’s lips twitched as she stood and walked off.

Rong Fei’s gaze fixed on Jiang Mian’s departing back.

A moment later, he slowly began to follow her.

‘Ever since last night, this woman’s behavior has been a little hard to figure out.’

Following the memories in her mind, the first room Jiang Mian went to—almost subconsciously—was the Snake Beast Master’s.

After all, compared to the others, Jiang Mian was more familiar with the Snake Beast Master.

When Rong Fei saw that the first person Jiang Mian sought was the Snake Beastman, his eyes flickered slightly.

‘People subconsciously seek out the person they feel most familiar with, or the one they have the best relationship with.’

‘But her relationship with the Snake Beastman was the absolute worst.

The kind where they never exchanged more than a single word.’

Rong Fei had thought she would seek out the Scorpion Beastman first.

After all, that scorpion was the second-most obedient one—after him, of course.

‘How very surprising this is.’

Jiang Mian arrived outside Lin Yu’s door, knocked, and spoke slowly.

“Lin…

Lin Yu, please come out for a moment.

We all need to discuss something.”

Seeing this, Rong Fei was even more baffled.

‘Didn’t this woman always just kick the door down before?’

Jiang Mian was well aware her actions were different from the original owner’s, but she had no intention of hiding it.

She would just live life her own way.

She knocked, but there was no response from within.

Jiang Mian: …

“Heh…” Rong Fei, standing beside her, let out a soft, almost irrepressible chuckle.

Jiang Mian shot him a look.

Rong Fei slowly lowered his eyes to meet hers, making no effort to hide the lazy, mocking smile on his face.

‘He really has absolutely no respect for me, his master!’

Jiang Mian: …

‘I’m a bigger person.

I won’t stoop to his level.’

Jiang Mian looked away.

Just as she raised her hand to knock a second time, the door swung open.

Her raised hand froze mid-air.

As Lin Yu looked at her, she slowly lowered it.

“Come out for a moment.

We need to discuss something.”

The Lin Yu before her had changed into a clean, all-black outfit.

Everything about him was black except for his skin, a stark contrast to Rong Fei, who was dressed in pure white.

His slightly long, wavy black hair still concealed the right half of his face, revealing only his left cheek and his narrow, red left eye.

The right side of his face, hidden by his dark, curly hair, seemed to be covered in a dense layer of black snake scales.

The original owner had found that half of his face, covered in scales, to be ugly and disgusting, and had forbidden him from ever showing it.

Jiang Mian fell silent for a moment but said nothing.

Lin Yu’s gem-like red eyes swept coldly over the pink bandage on Jiang Mian’s forehead.

Without a word, he stepped out of the room.

Seeing him come out, Jiang Mian knew he had agreed.

Unlike Rong Fei, who was pristine in white, the all-black Lin Yu seemed to be one with the shadows, his steps completely silent.

The two of them followed behind her.

The four words “Black and White Impermanence” suddenly popped into Jiang Mian’s head.

She pushed the thought from her mind and went to find the next Beastman.

For the next Beastman, Jiang Mian didn’t overthink it; she simply went to whichever room was closest.

In truth, all five of the Beastmen’s rooms were in a row.

Jiang Mian walked a few steps and stopped in front of a door.

‘Ah, the Butterfly Beastman.

Last night, I think I practically tumbled out of his bed.’

A wordless embarrassment washed over Jiang Mian.

Of all the Beastmen, the original owner had most favored the beautiful and fiery Butterfly Beastman, harassing him on multiple occasions.

You could say the Butterfly Beastman had taken most of the heat from her harassment, sparing the others.

‘But the future must be faced.’ Jiang Mian knocked on the door.

“Um, Zhao Ci, are you there?”

‘I wonder how he dealt with being drugged last night.

He must have handled it himself, right?’

The next second, the door opened.

Zhao Ci possessed an exquisitely beautiful, almost seductively captivating face.

Yet, his violet-gold eyes, like shifting sand, held a piercing, cold glamour.

His entire aura was laced with shards of ice, elevating his striking features to a level of untouchable elegance.

‘No wonder the original owner liked his type.

If this Beastman were to fall in love with someone, once that cold exterior was shattered, all that would be left is a decadent, thick, and dazzling adoration.’

Jiang Mian’s lips twitched.

‘The original owner truly was fearless.’

In an era where humans kept Beastmen, the birth rate of pure humans was plummeting.

It was now strictly forbidden for humans and Beastmen to copulate.

If discovered, the human would be thrown into a maximum-security prison, and the Beastman would be executed.

With humanity on the brink of extinction and the rise of the Beastman era, it all seemed to be the result of evolutionary selection.

Beastmen were superior to humans in every aspect—not just their healing abilities, but also their strength, lifespan, and more…

Jiang Mian reined in her thoughts, feeling a little melancholic.

Looking at the Butterfly Beastman before her, she felt no particular interest and simply said slowly, “Let’s go.

We need to discuss something.”

With that, she turned and walked toward the next room.

Zhao Ci had expected Jiang Mian to stare at him with that disgusting gaze of hers, but today she was surprisingly detached.

He was puzzled and frowned slightly.

Though his heart was still filled with disgust for her, he followed along.

‘I don’t know what this woman is up to.’

Jiang Mian came to the Wolf Beastman’s door and knocked.

“Hey, Li Yan, come on out.”

The door was yanked open with a sudden gust of wind that rushed into her face, as irritable as its owner.

The man had broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and well-defined muscles.

His simple clothes revealed a taut, powerful shoulder, looking as if he could obliterate someone with a single punch.

Standing tall before Jiang Mian, his large frame made her seem extremely petite.

Jiang Mian felt a wave of oppressive pressure wash over her.

“What is it?” A cold, impatient voice boomed down at her.

Li Yan’s gaze swept over the Beastmen behind Jiang Mian before finally landing on her.

His voice was laced with sarcasm.

“What?

Is it time for another whipping party?”

Jiang Mian: …

Forget them not wanting to say another word to her; right now, Jiang Mian didn’t want to say another word to them either.
