Leo used both heavy swords to the fullest. Sometimes he blocked with the edge, sometimes with the flat, and sometimes even with the handle.
He stopped every strike that came from Corvin’s Bamboo Sword.
In moments, the shadows of his blades flashed bright and wrapped his whole body in a big ball of light. The power of holy light never stopped flowing, and it matched perfectly with the defense of his two heavy swords.
If he slipped even once against Corvin’s attacks, the Bamboo Sword would land straight on his body. And that pain would be far worse than any Owl-Ants’ bite.
But strangely, Leo held on.
Corvin’s face was very serious. Still, he couldn’t break his son’s defense.
A quarter of an hour passed. Then Corvin’s Bamboo Sword suddenly flared.
White light spread out, and thousands of swords appeared before Leo.
Leo kept swinging. He hadn’t expected this strike from his father. But it was clear it wasn’t the first time.
He knocked the handle of his left sword against his right sword. Then he spun the left one around and thrust forward with the right.
Golden light flashed. A Thorny Charge shot out toward the Bamboo Sword.
A soft ring echoed. The strike landed. But the Bamboo Sword in its path didn’t move at all.
Leo used the speed from his last block and stepped forward.
Then a clear chime rang out. A wave of golden light rose from his body. It was Divine Obstruction.
Against Corvin’s strike, he had to pour in all the Spiritual Energy he had left. Only then could he form Divine Obstruction and stop the blow.
"Excellent! You did well this time."
Corvin pulled back his Bamboo Sword and nodded with a smile.
"You stayed calm. I can see our daily real-fight training wasn’t wasted."
Leo was panting. His clothes were soaked with sweat. His father hadn’t even used any Spiritual Energy attacks. Still, Leo felt crushed under his strength.
Corvin walked over, patted his shoulder, and smiled. "Come on, let’s go home and rest. Your mother’s lunch will be ready soon."
"Okay!" Leo’s face lit up with joy.
He had worked hard every day for a year and a half. Still, this was the happiest time of his life.
Mama always had a smile on her face. And his strong father was teaching him.
A life like this was anything but boring. It was full of happiness.
Suddenly, Corvin’s steps stopped. His eyes turned hard.
Leo felt the change in his father’s breath too. A terrifying feeling was rising from inside him, like an almighty ancient dragon waking up. Leo found it hard even to breathe.
Corvin let go of his son’s hand and slowly turned around. He lifted one foot just a little.
And in the next moment, Leo’s mouth fell open.
Dense golden light burst from his father’s body. That same light lifted him into the sky. He was flying!
Leo had trained with his father for over two years, and he still never knew how strong he really was.
Now, seeing him fly through the air on his own Spiritual Energy, he was stunned.
At that moment, two golden lights burned in Corvin’s eyes. He was looking far away, toward Eldrin Town.
Before Leo could recover, Corvin landed on the ground. His eyes were cold.
"The armed army of the Ashmaw Horde has attacked without warning. We have to go now."
Without another word, he grabbed Leo’s arm and rose into the air again.
All his dense Spiritual Energy flowed out from his back and formed a pair of golden wings.
Soul-Feather Wings. It was an ability of sixth-stage Radiant Knights.
But Corvin’s wings were over ten meters wide. Dozens of golden feathers lined them, looking completely real.
How could ordinary Spiritual Energy do something this amazing in such a short time?
The huge wings spread wide, and a golden circle covered father and son. Then the wings beat hard.
The two of them shot toward Eldrin Town at the speed of a falling star.
Leo didn’t notice what else happened the moment Corvin’s wings appeared.
From Eldrin Mountain deep into the forest, every living thing dropped to the ground. Magical Beasts and wild animals alike.
They were so frightened by the sight that none of them dared to move.
Everything around turned into a golden world. Thick holy energy wrapped around it all.
Leo felt his own Spiritual Energy boiling.
In those few moments, his Spiritual Energy even grew. But that was only because the light-attribute energy around him was so overwhelming.
That alone showed how powerful Corvin’s holy energy was.
A few seconds passed, and the golden light suddenly scattered.
Leo could see the ground below.
*Have we really reached Eldrin Town already? So fast?*
He couldn’t believe his eyes. But under his feet, it was truly Eldrin Town, where he had grown up.
But the peace of Eldrin Town was gone.
Fires burned in many places. Cries rang out again and again. Screams and the roar of destruction filled every corner of the town.
Leo saw huge, strong monsters in black armor tearing through the town. There were at least thousands of them.
Each monster stood at least 1.8 meters tall. They had wolf heads and human bodies. Curved swords flashed in their hands.
The people of the town were being slaughtered. Screams of pain filled the air, and those terrifying wolfmen roared even louder among them.
More than three thousand families lived in Eldrin Town. That was about twenty thousand people.
But at that moment, the place was drowning in blood and bodies. Thick blood covered everything. The sight would make anyone sick.
"Father, what are those?"
Leo’s voice shook with rage. This was his home! This was where he grew up!
Just now, he had seen with his own eyes how an old friend, a younger boy from the town, was struck down by a wolf-headed monster’s curved sword.
The boy fell to the ground. He let out one last cry of pain. And then he was gone.
"The Ashmaw wolfmen of the Ashmaw Horde."
Corvin’s voice was cold. A heavy pressure rolled out of his body.
The people below were terrified of the wolfmen. Without thinking, they looked up.
They saw the two huge wings stretching from Corvin’s back. And they were completely stunned.
"Father, let me go down! I’ll kill every one of them!"
Leo shouted, burning with rage.
"You’re not strong enough yet."
Corvin spoke quietly.
"Leo, you always wanted to see your father’s true strength, didn’t you? Then watch carefully."
At that moment, a ring of golden-red light rose from Corvin’s back.
Inside that ring, a huge, shining golden throne slowly came into view. Its glow was so bright it hurt the eyes.
