Denki tried
He really did
Hikari had given him strict instructions
“Rest. Relax. And not training”
So he woke up the next morning determined to follow them
He lasted…
a strong seven minutes
⸻
Denki sat on his bed, legs bouncing so fast he was going to burn a hole through his floor
He stared at the ceiling
Then the wall
Then his hands
Then the window
Then his hands again
“Okay… free day. I can do this” he said to no one
Five minutes later he was reorganizing his notebooks that had the names and quirks of some UA students with theories/ideas of how to strengthen them
Ten minutes later he was pacing in circles, static electricity flickering off his fingertips just because it felt too weird to not be doing something
Twenty minutes in, he said out loud
“I’m losing my mind”
Being still wasn’t natural anymore.
Not unless he had a nagging teacher that kept telling him to pay attention and not sleep during class.
He felt like a battery hooked to a motor with nowhere for the energy to go
So he flopped on his bed again, let out a sigh, and tried thinking of things he used to do for fun
Drawing?
Nope.
His art looked like a somebody tried making a mess over a sheet of paper
Games?
Fun, but the games in this world were boring to him.
To many games revolved around ‘hero vs villain’ with All Might being the literal one punch man to win any boss fight
Music?
The music here was great, with some catchy enough to play on loop a few times.
But he kept finding himself humming to a song from his previous world
His heart paused
Music…
A vivid memory from his past life drifted in—warm and bittersweet, nostalgia curling around him like a blanket he hadn’t realized he missed
There was a specific song
One he had listened to every day
On the bus
At his desk
While the teacher screamed at him to pay attention
On loop during the hardest days and the happiest ones
He could almost hear it now, softly humming the familiar tune with his lightning following along
A song that feels like a montage or a ‘level up moment’
Beats that make it feel like steady steps to a goal
And a chorus that was built to hype you up!
Funny enough that song.
The song kinda matches his new life right now.
Him wanting to be a hero, wanting to be at the top of the lightning based leader boards.
His unstoppable drive to keep improving himself and others
God, he hadn’t thought of that song in a long time
“…I want to hear it again”
The realization hit him like static to the heart
Denki sat up so fast the air cracked around him,
He remembered the song.
He could hear and hum the song perfectly, but that’s not what wasn’t what he was after
He wanted to hear it with his own ears
The way the opening beat rolled in like footsteps on concrete.
The way the bass hit your chest, low and steady, like a heartbeat turning into a war drum.
The way the vocals where filled with power and confidence
He knew the song perfectly
What he didn’t know was how to damn recreate it.
How hard could it be?
~~~~~~~
His confidence lasted thirty glorious seconds
“…What the hell does any of this mean?”
Waveforms, layers, mixing, what kind of sorcery was this?
He tried copying the beat he heard in his head, tapping it out with his fingers
It sounded like a toddler attacking a keyboard
“Okay. Okay. That’s fine. First tries are supposed to suck” he reassured himself, already sweating
He added a bass line
Too loud—blew his headphones off his head
He added vocals, he winced, he deleted the vocal
Hours passed, he didn’t notice.
His body hummed with endless energy, he didn’t burn out, but his patience sure did
And still the computer speakers croaked out something that sounded like “if this song was performed underwater by a sleep-deprived duck”
Day one: failure
Day two:spectacular failure
Day four: he accidentally created a horror song that Shinso begged him to delete before it summoned a demon
But Denki kept going, he refused to stop
Every day after school ends, he leaves Shinso to keep training on his own.
Threatening he would fry him alive if he skipped a day.
And after everything, he sat at his desk—lightning buzzing around him like an energizer—chipping away at the song
Bit by bit
Beat by beat
Note by note
He remembered the song perfectly.
But recreating it?
It was like carving a statue with nothing but your hands
A week passed
Then two
He kept improving tiny details only he noticed
By the end of the third week, his room was a graveyard of crumpled notes, dead pencils, empty snack bags, and an alarming number of sticky notes that said things like:
“SNARE TOO WEAK FIX IT!!!!”
“Vocals slightly off?? why??? WHY???”
“THIS ISN’T ART THIS IS SUFFERING”
But one night—after exactly twenty-one days—he hit play
And the room filled with it
The real thing
The heartbeat-drum opening
The electric hum
The rough, confident vocals
The unstoppable energy that had once carried him through every bus ride and every test he didn’t bother studying for
He’d done it
Denki slumped back in his chair, grinning so hard his face hurt
“Three weeks,” he wheezed.
“I spent three weeks on one song. I’m… insane”
Static sparked off his fingers, dancing along with the final notes
But he didn’t care
He’d brought a piece of his old world into this one—and made it his own
Unstoppable by -The Score-
Unstoppable, just like him
~~~~~~~
Hikari nearly dropped the laundry basket when Denki screamed
Not a pain scream
Not a “lightning exploded and I charred the wall again don’t worry” scream
But a triumphant, borderline feral—
“YES! I DID IT!”
Within seconds, both Hikari and Sei bolted down the hall
Hikari slammed the door open first.
Sei skidded in behind her, holding a spatula like a weapon because he had been mid-cooking
“Denki!? What happened? Did you blow something up—?” Hikari began
Then she heard it
Music filled the room.
The music her son has been working on
The speakers pushed out the pounding heartfelt beat, the electric hum, the rising chorus, cinematic, powerful.
Hikari’s jaw dropped
Sei lowered his spatula
“Holy…” Sei whispered “Is it done?….Did you finished it?”
Denki spun in his chair so fast he nearly launched himself off it.
His face showing clear signs of exhaustion but was overwhelmed by the feeling of accomplishment he was admitting
“Ahh!—hi—what are you doing here—nevermind—YES IT IS DONE!” he stammered.
completely caught off guard from them bursting through his door….didn’t he lock it?
“It took forever and I’m NEVER doing it again!”
Hikari looked from her son to the disaster zone of sticky notes, empty snack wrappers, and headphones that had clearly been abused
“Three weeks?” she guessed softly
“THREE WEEKS” Denki repeated dramatically “I LOST MY SOUL. I THINK I ATE A PENCIL AT SOME POINT. I’M DONE. RETIRED. MY MUSIC CAREER IS OVER. I WILL NEVER MAKE ANOTHER SONG AGAIN”
Sei walked forward and replayed the opening beat
“No. You’re grounded”
“What?! Why?!”
“For lying” Sei said, nodding to the speakers “Because clearly you are doing this again someday”
“I’M NOT!” Denki protested
“You absolutely are” Hikari said, crossing her arms with a knowing smile “And next time, you will eat actual food instead of… whatever that is” She nudged a can of energy drink that definitely didn’t belong in a child’s body
Denki groaned, dragging his palm across his face
“You guys are not listening. Music Denki is dead. You’re looking at his corpse”
Hikari cupped his cheek lovingly “Sweetheart…your corpse is extremely talented”
“NO I REFUSE TO GO THROUGH THIS SUFFERING AGAIN!”
But despite the yelling, despite the embarrassment, Denki couldn’t hide the faint buzzing glow of pride sparking from his fingertips
Later that night, after the parental interrogation and emotional damage, Denki flopped at his desk and uploaded the song almost absentmindedly
No fanfare
No description
Just the song title: “Unstoppable version 3 final form—by Raikou”
He hit “post”
And promptly forgot it existed
Because now he had a more horrifying, soul-crushing problem sitting in front of him.
The same demon that haunted him in his previous life
Money
He smacked his forehead onto his desk with a thunk
Shinso glanced over from the other side of the classroom.
“You okay?”
“No” Denki said into the wood.
“Everything is awful”
“You finished the song though”
“Yes. And it cost me things. Emotional things”
Shinso blinked.
“…Okay?”
Denki groaned.
“Dude… I need money”
“For what? Headphones? Therapy?”
“No, genius” Denki rolled his head to stare miserably at the ceiling.
“If making one song took that much chip power, equipment, and snacks….what about hero costumes? Gear? Training equipment? I’m broke Shinso. I’m spiritually AND financially broke”
(Also I noticed the next school I plan to transfer too next is over an hour away. And I doubt Hikari or Sei would be willing to drive me there themselves. They don’t even trust me to go on my own! Like I wouldn’t even dare-I totally would- to skip school for any reason)
Shinso blinked again, slower “…So get a job?”
Denki vibrated with offended electricity.
“I’M A CHILD, SHINSO. A CHILD WITH DREAMS AND DEBTS”
He slammed his head gently against the desk again
Thud
Thud
Thud
Shinso sighed “You’re unbelievable”
“I’m unstoppable” Denki corrected weakly.
“And broke”
He didn’t know that while he was suffering financially, his phone quietly buried under notebooks—was buzzing repeatedly
