Those three weeks passed in a blur of real-estate visits, packing boxes, and Denki’s parents repeatedly questioning the universe about why their son’s boredom directly translated into life-altering chaos.
But eventually, Sei and Hikari struck gold!
A cozy, modern house in a quieter district, close to Denki’s new school and far from the financial black hole their current commute would become
Denki liked it too.
More space, a backyard, and—most importantly—a room big enough for his ‘totally legitimate work-from-home consulting business’ as he called it
With moving day officially set, Denki realized he needed to do something he’d never thought he’d have to do.
Say goodbye
~~~~~
As he stood near the moving truck that was packing all of their belongings.
He saw Shinso showing up first as he rounded the corner who tried for his usual stoic look, but the subtle twitch in his eyebrow gave him away
“So… this is it, huh?” Shinso said, hands in pockets
“For now” Denki replied, sporting his signature grin “You know I’ll still call you for business stuff”
“You better” Shinso huffed.
“I didn’t become your professional brainwasher just for you to ditch me”
Denki laughed, rubbing the back of his head “You’re indispensable man. The company needs you”
Shinso raised an eyebrow “The company needs me? Not you?”
“I mean—both? Mostly me for stuff in the future. But also the company. It’s complicated”
Shinso rolled his eyes and raised his hand to fist bump Denki
“Don’t go starting a new empire without warning me” he muttered
“No promises” Denki responded and fist bumped Shinso
⸻
Izuku arrived almost immediately after, out of breath from sprinting the whole way
“K-Kaminari! You’re moving—already?! I brought—uh—notes! On… um…laser quirks? I thought maybe we could—”
Denki put a hand on the boy’s shoulder before he could spiral into a stutter-loop.
“Dude, it’s fine. I’m not leaving forever, we’ll definitely meet again. Right now we’ll just be… long-distance nerd buddies”
Izuku laughed weakly, clutching the notebook to his chest.
“I really liked hanging out” he admitted softly.
“It felt like… like we were working toward something important”
“We are” Denki said “just keep moving forward with your training, and never lose that hero’s heart you have. You’ll become someone amazing in the future, I know it” (more then you would ever know)
Izuku nodded, eyes a little shiny
“Then… I’ll keep practicing. And next time you see me, I’ll be way better!”
“I expect nothing less”
Denki took a final look at both of them—his first real friends in this life [including Ojiro. He has not been forgotten]—and let out a breath
“Well this is goodbye I guess” Shinso said.
Izuku nodded showing he agreed
Denki was about to say the same thing until something flashed through his memories.
“Actually, let’s not say goodbye. It sounds like we’ll never be seeing each other again. I saw this video of a certain straw-hatted young man who said something I completely agree with”
“He never said a goodbye to anyone before. Saying he would like to see his friends again. And that’s what I will say here as well” Denki does a dramatic bow with his right arm going across his mid section and his left going up into the air
“I will never say a goodbye to any one of my friends from the past or the future. I will always want to see everyone again”
And with that, Denki turned, walking toward the moving truck where his parents were waving him over
A new house
A new school
A growing business
And two friends he’d definitely drag back into chaos someday
~~~~~
Boxes were still stacked in corners of the new house, but the essentials were unpacked, and Denki found himself with something he rarely had anymore
Free time
A whole week before the new school year started
He asked his parents if he could explore the area, and after the move-induced exhaustion left them too tired to argue, they waved him off with a “Be back before dinner, sweetie!”
Denki grinned, slipping on his shoes
The moment he stepped outside, he stretched his senses—his electric field observation expanding outward like an invisible bubble.
Every car battery, phone signal, overhead powerline, automatic door panel, and street lamp hummed faintly inside his mind
This neighborhood was…
peaceful.
But also buzzing with potential energy
Perfect
Denki wandered down the sidewalks, mentally mapping the rhythm of the electrical currents around him
He visited a bakery, picking up the smell of fresh
Apple-pie
A small café, its coffee machines vibrating warmly in his awareness
A park, where he sat on a swing and let the grid of power lines overhead pulse inside his peripheral senses
It was nice
Quiet
Almost boring
⸻
A tall white building sat at the end of the block—modern, clean, with big glass windows and a sign near the entrance
Shoowaysha Publishing
Denki blinked
Why does that sound…
familiar?
The name tugged at some distant memory—something important, something from canon—but he couldn’t place it
(Where do I recognize this? It sounds so familiar)
he stepped closer and peeked through the window
Two employees were chatting by the lobby desk, laughing about something.
When one of them prepared to leave, he casually formed an L-shape with his hand, thumb pressed to his forehead.
A gesture that meant nothing to anyone…
Except Denki
His brain snapped into focus
(Oh. Oh no. Oh HELL no)
Suddenly the fuzzy memory sharpened, becoming terrifyingly clear
Shoowaysha Publishing was a front for the Meta Liberation Army.
And that hand sign was the gesture used by their supporters.
Meaning this building—this innocent-looking publishing company—was harboring future extremists who served under Re-Destro
Denki slowly leaned back from the glass, eyes narrowing with wicked delight.
“Welp” he whispered to himself.
“Time to cause problems… on purpose”
He casually walked past the building, pretending he’d lost interest.
But inside his mind?
His electric senses were already infiltrating the wiring.
He felt the building’s grid:
Main Electrical junction box
Backup generators
Charging stations for staff devices
And most importantly—the line feeding the entire building.
Denki smirked
He jammed the cameras first, overloading their receivers with a soft burst of static.
Nothing drastic—just enough to make them blink out for a few seconds at a time
Then, with all the subtlety of a gremlin in a candy store…
He siphoned their electricity
Not all at once
Slowly
Sneakily
Just enough each minute to make the building compensate by drawing more and more power from the grid.
Like opening a tiny leak in a dam.
A leak that would cost them tens of thousands of yen on their next bill.
And the best part?
He channeled the stolen electricity straight into himself
Every spark flowed into his core, thickening his reserves and sharpening his senses.
His electric field grew stronger, extending his awareness from a one-block radius to nearly three
His power didn’t suddenly triple all at once, his body would still need time to adjust to the influx of new energy.
But he now found an almost endless supply of it
“Perfect” Denki muttered as he walked away, hands in his pockets like an innocent tourist.
The Meta Liberation Army would scratch their heads for months.
They’d call electricians, argue with power companies, and try desperately to figure out who or what was draining them dry.
Meanwhile, Denki would just keep strolling by their building every few days…
Charging himself off their budget.
~~~~~~
Shoowaysha Publishing’s accounting office was usually quiet in the mornings, but today a shrill scream echoed across the entire floor.
“WHAT. IS. THIS?!”
Every employee froze
The accountant—a tired-looking middle-aged man—stumbled out of his office holding a paper bill like it was a death sentence.
His hands were shaking
The manager snatched the bill from him.
And immediately went pale
Their electricity bill for the month was…
¥1,458,000.
Nearly a million and half yen. This chapter was copied from g.com without permission.
For a mid-sized publishing branch
People gathered around, whispering
“Did we leave the printing presses running all night?”
“Impossible! They auto-shut off”
“Is it the AC? The servers?”
“We’re not even a tech company!”
“Did someone plug in an illegal Bitcoin miner…?”
No one had answers
Meanwhile, outside on the sidewalk, Denki walked past while eating a melon bun, eyes sparkling with pride
His electric field vibrated smugly.
⸻
Across the city, in an MLA safehouse, Curious—the strict, sharp-smiling Head of Public Relations for the Meta Liberation Army—sat with her tablet
A notification pinged
Shoowaysha Publishing Monthly Power Statement — URGENT
She clicked it
Her smile cracked
“…One million and…?” she whispered.
“…What on earth are they doing over there? Attempting to power the entire country?”
She immediately scheduled a video call with the branch manager
The moment he answered, she didn’t even say hello
“Explain”
The man looked like he hadn’t slept since the Jurassic era.
“We—we don’t know, ma’am. All systems are normal. Cameras are operational—probably. No signs of overuse. No break-ins. No equipment changes. Nothing unusual.”
Curious stared him down
“You are telling me” she said slowly, “that your building used more energy than a small hospital… doing absolutely nothing?”
The manager wilted
“…it seems so?”
Curious pinched the bridge of her nose
“Send electricians”
“We already did—they said everything was fine!”
“Send different electricians”
“We did that too—still nothing!”
Curious’s eye twitched
“Send a quirk specialist”
“We… we don’t have the funds”
“WHY!?”
“…because the electricity bill used all of it”
Curious’s left eye began to twitch.
⸻
Over the next few days, Shoowaysha Publishing received:
Three electrical engineers,
Two maintenance crews,
A quirk consultant,
And one extremely confused intern who claimed the building was “making a weird humming sound sometimes”
They ran tests
They checked wiring
They inspected every outlet
They even unplugged every device in the building and checked the meter.
It was still spinning at alarming speed.
“…is the building haunted?” someone whispered
Curious was not amused
“This is sabotage” she said through gritted teeth.
“Someone is draining our power. Find them!”
But of course…
They couldn’t
Not with Denki casually strolling by once every evening, humming innocently, siphoning just a little more electricity while their cameras conveniently ‘glitched’
By the end of the week?
The MLA was pulling their hair out.
Shoowaysha Publishing was financially bleeding.
And Denki…
…was fully charged, well-rested, and feeling fantastic!
