Ojiro and I ended up staying late after class nearly every day.
[he did not forgot Izuku don’t worry]At first it was just light sparring, but before long we were sitting on the cold dojo floor, tossing around ideas like two nerds trying to reinvent martial art.
“Your tail’s basically a third arm” I said, sketching out a messy design on the back of an old flyer.
“You’re wasting its potential just swinging it like a bat”
Ojiro leaned in, curious “So… what? Grapples? Throws? Balance tricks?”
“All of it” I grinned.
“Imagine locking someone’s wrist with your tail while you land a roundhouse. Or using it to redirect their momentum for a counter”
I pointed at his tail.
“That thing’s a weapon. We just need to treat it like one”
Ojiro’s eyes lit up with a fire I’d never seen in him before “Then let’s make a style for it”
So we did.
Between sparring sessions, we invented moves that didn’t exist in regular martial arts schools.
Tail-assisted sweeps, tail-boosted jumps, three-point combos using hands, feet, and tail.
A whole new hybrid style started taking shape, one tail flick at a time.
But life didn’t slow down just because training got fun.
Once the snow began to melt and spring crept back into the city, my day-to-day life settled into something…
stable.
Predictable.
And if I’m being honest?
Boring.
My morning routine stayed the same:
Wake up → eat breakfast → avoid Hikari’s fussing → walk to school → fight off the urge to fall asleep in class
At school nothing changed.
Another building full of kids I didn’t recognize, teachers who talked too slow, and lessons I’d mastered years ago in my last life.
I used observation training to pass the time, letting the faint buzz of my quirk fan out from my feet to map out the hallways and listen for anything unusual
Nothing ever was
No Kirishima.
No Ashido.
No Tokoyami.
No one even remotely UA related
Just more normal kids with normal quirks, asking me things like:
“Hey, can you charge my tablet?”
“Does it hurt when you zap stuff?”
“Wanna be on our dodgeball team? We need someone ‘electric'”
I’d answer politely, go to class, ace my tests, then head to the dojo after school for more training with Ojiro.
That was the least boring part of my day.
We refined techniques, tested new moves, and scrapped things that looked cooler in theory than reality.
He pushed himself hard, and I found myself doing the same just to keep up
But outside of that?
The school year dragged on like a snail
Still no sign of the future UA cast.
Still no hint of destiny showing me where to go next
Just another dud school and another day of waiting

Bits of snow still clung to the rooftops when Denki stepped out into the backyard, breath fogging the cold air.
Ojiro had gone home after their usual training session, leaving Denki alone with the one thing he could never escape his own restlessness
“Okay… what now?” he muttered, rubbing his hands together for warmth producing a tiny bit of electricity
He had martial arts training with Ojiro…
school recon ‘missions’…
and his daily observation-haki attempts.
But none of those exercised his actual quirk.
Not really
In his backyard the air was still cold enough that Denki’s breath puffed like smoke as he stepped into the now melting snow.
He loosened his shoulders, stretching his fingers until they crackled with familiar warmth
He wasn’t here to practice basic control.
He’d already mastered that — arcs, sparks, needle-thin threads, all of it.
This was something harder
Condensing electricity
This will give him and edge over other conventional lightning users
He held out his hand
A soft bzzt filled the cold air as a small spark snapped to life, Denki focused.
He pulled the electricity inward, trying to compress it into a tight sphere—fsshhp—CRACK!
The energy burst apart, scorching a black starburst mark into the snow.
Denki shook out his hand.
“Yeah. That’s what I expected. Again”
He summoned another spark.
Condensing electricity wasn’t like making a beam or a shock.
It was more like squeezing a balloon from all sides without letting it pop.
Too much pressure and it exploded; not enough and it fizzled out [I think?]
He pulled inward.
The spark quivered, shrinking…
shrinking…
pop!
Another scorch mark.
“Ughhh…” Denki dragged a hand down his face.
“Why can’t you just cooperate? I know the theory! Compression, stabilization, balanced output…” the rasengan
He muttered formulas under his breath — electrical resistance, voltage ratios, flow restrictions.
Things he remembered from his old world, from physics videos he watched to kill boredom
He tried again
Failed
Tried again.
Failed harder
The sky dimmed from pale blue to a lazy sunset gold.
Denki stamped his foot into the snow “No way. I’m not stopping until I get at least a reaction! Heh…I wish I had shadow clones”
He looked at his palm, concentrating until he felt the familiar hum in his bones
He breathed in and breathed out, then pulled.
Slowly, painfully slowly the electricity curled inward like folding flames.
The air shimmered around it.
The spark became a bead.
Then a dot
The light bent faintly around the tiny orb
Denki’s eyes widened.
“Oh—oh my god wait—steady—steady—” The orb flickered violently, threatening to burst
He softened the pull, adjusting output the way a musician tuned strings.
The trembling slowed
The orb stabilized.
A perfectly condensed, tennis ball-sized sphere of golden lightning hovered just above his palm, humming softly like a miniature sun
Denki grinned so wide his cheeks hurt
“I DID IT!”
He threw his head back, laughing breathlessly at the sky.
Then he let the sphere dissolve harmlessly into glittering sparks.
As the last bit of electricity faded, he whispered to himself
“I just made an electric rasengan—wait”
He blinked, then cupped his chin.
“Actually… it’s more like a tiny Electro Ball, now that I think about it. …I should really look into making an electric tail”
His train of thought was interrupted when Hikari called his name from inside, telling him dinner was ready.
Denki put a rain check on his thoughts and headed toward the house, a small smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth
(This is only the beginning. All the electric users from anime, games, manga… I’ll put every idea to good use!)
~~~~~~~
The last patches of winter had finally melted away, leaving the backyard damp, muddy, and smelling faintly of fresh earth.
Spring sunlight warmed the grass, and Denki stood in the middle of the yard with his sleeves rolled up, stretching until his joints crackled like his quirk
Winter was gone but Denki’s training was only ramping up
For the past two months, after school, after martial arts with Ojiro, and after blowing through homework faster than his teachers preferred, he’d carved out something sacred!
Lightning moves 1
The first idea came from a training match where Ojiro caught him off guard blitzed him with a sweeping tail strike.
Denki needed a way to control space—to force movement, slow opponents, or trap them
So Denki began experimenting.
He flicked his fingers outward, sending thin strings of static crackling between them.
They wavered like threads of energy, unstable and weak
“Okay, let’s weave these…” The source of this chapter is g.com.
He snapped his hands apart and the web fell apart instantly
“…Ugh” Over the next weeks, the threads grew stronger.
He experimented with angles, voltages, and weaving patterns.
Day after day, trial after failure after tiny progress
Until finally—
BZZTT—!
A shimmering lattice of static shot outward, spreading across the ground like a crackling spiderweb.
It wasn’t strong enough to shock, but the static cling effect made it sticky, slowing anyone who stepped on it
Although he could not longer control or manipulate the electricity since it left his body unless he wanted to absorb it back before it dissipated.
It will still be very useful
As said Ojiro accidentally walked through one during sparring
His foot halted mid-step “…Bro. I can’t move”
Denki flashed a grin.
“Static Pulse Web. Mobility debuff activated”
Lightning move 2
The second technique came from Denki trying and failing, to sprint faster than Ojiro during footwork drills within using his quirk and just pure leg strength.
Ojiro cheated and used his tail
He needed speed.
Not in a flashy, lightning-blast way.
Something subtle that won’t be noticed right away until he’s right in your face
(What if I boost the ground instead of myself?)
He knelt and pressed his palm into the dirt.
A straight charge line surged across the ground.
Similar how he uses his electric field, when he stepped onto the electrically charged strip
FWIP—!
He shot forward like he’d stepped on a railgun track…
and immediately ate grass
“Ow… worth it”
Weeks of adjusting power, timing, and distance followed.
Eventually—
FWIP— FWIP— FWIP
Denki zig-zagged across the yard, each step landing on a rail of electricity he projected milliseconds ahead of his foot
“YEAH! RAIL SPARK!” [please do you have a better name?
I can’t think of one] [also trust on this I have big plans for developing this move]
Hikari peeked out the sliding door, watching her son blur past like an unsupervised science experiment
“Sei… should we be concerned?”
“…At this point? No. Just let him cook”
Lightning move 3
This one began as a joke
Denki wondered if he could recreate a ‘shadow clone’ or more specifically a lightning clone.
Obviously, he couldn’t manifest a real duplicate but he found he could create something
A rough, flickering, humanoid silhouette made entirely of weak electricity
It fell apart constantly.
“Come onnnnn—just stay together—”
pop.
“…Please?”
pop.
He pushed through two frustrating weeks, battling headaches and fumbling coordination.
And then—A glowing, mannequin-shaped figure of electricity finally held form beside him, copying his stance with a half-second delay
Denki gasped “…HI ME!”
The clone waved.
Then fizzled instantly
Still — a success
“Lightning style: Double team!” [I’m laughing]
All in all he developed these techniques in just over 2 months!
Denki was feeling great his arsenal will go stronger with each move he adds.
Now looking ahead, his birthday is only a few months away marking his 11th birthday.
“It might be time for another school transfor”
