Jiang Ran opened his eyes and looked at her. That one glance seemed as though it could see straight into the depths of her heart.

But the situation was urgent. How could Lin Buyu afford to think about anything else?

Without a second thought, she raised her delicate hand and snatched the rifle Nie Fei had placed in front of him. Then, grabbing the roof of the vehicle with one hand, she leaped up and flipped herself onto the roof.Full novel: Help! Her movements were fast and fluid, smooth as flowing water, as though she had practiced them countless times.

She raised the rifle and aimed at the zombies ahead.

“Xiao Jingcheng, get out here! Use your Medusa Eyes!”

Xiao Jingcheng’s Medusa Eyes ability had already been exposed in front of Lin Buyu during their fight at the hospital, so he didn’t find her request suspicious.

As he climbed out of the vehicle and crouched on the roof, he quickly said, “My ability can only immobilize even a green-eyed zombie for a few seconds. Against a blue-eyed monster like this, it might not even last a second.”

The blue-eyed zombie was already charging toward them at terrifying speed.

Lin Buyu clicked off the safety, gripped the rifle in a textbook stance, and calmly replied, “0.1 seconds is enough.”

Xiao Jingcheng had never heard such an arrogant answer in his life.

The zombie in front of them was moving almost like it could teleport. Did she really think that immobilizing it for 0.1 seconds would accomplish anything?

It could barely do anything.

Still, he followed Lin Buyu’s instructions and activated his ability on the charging blue-eyed zombie, turning both humans and zombies into stone.

There were zombies everywhere, both ahead of them and behind.

Lin Buyu crouched at the front of the vehicle while Nie Fei and Su Ya watched her nervously from inside.

Jiang Ran, meanwhile, stared at her with a deep and complicated look in his eyes.

Xiao Jingcheng activated his ability on every zombie that came sprinting toward them.

But 0.1 seconds was simply too short. The zombies were moving far too quickly, and the brief moment of immobilization hardly gave anyone an opportunity to attack.

Yet Lin Buyu made use of every single one.

After Xiao Jingcheng activated his ability, he couldn’t even see exactly when the zombies stopped moving.

All he heard was—

Bang! Bang! Bang!

One bullet, one head blown apart.

No matter how powerful a zombie was, once its head was blown off, it was as good as dead.

Xiao Jingcheng watched helplessly as one charging zombie after another collapsed to the ground.

He abruptly turned his head toward Lin Buyu.

The fierce wind whipped her long hair around, and her delicate profile looked unbelievably cold and ruthless at that moment.

Xiao Jingcheng wasn’t the only one watching Lin Buyu. The others inside the vehicle were watching her too.

“Why are you looking at me? Watch the zombies,” Lin Buyu ordered Xiao Jingcheng after blowing apart another zombie’s head.

He had to admit, this Medusa Eyes ability of his was pretty useful.

Combined with her skills as a sharpshooter, it was practically the perfect combination.

As long as she had a gun in her hands, she felt incredibly safe.

Her astonishing accuracy with a rifle was enough to leave everyone speechless.

The first five zombies Lin Buyu took down were the five unruly creatures that had drunk her blood and evolved into high-level zombies.

After eliminating them, Lin Buyu immediately jumped back into the vehicle and told Nie Fei to keep driving.

She then grabbed her rifle, leaned most of her upper body out of the window, and shot down the remaining mutated zombies one by one.

Su Ya wasn’t idle either. She transformed her arm into a huge, steel-like hand and crushed zombie after zombie.

The area was wide open, and the zombies moved at different speeds. Only the fastest ones could keep up with their vehicle.

As a result, the zombies came at them in waves, one after another, making it much easier for Su Ya to crush them.

It wasn’t like at the hospital, where they had all been packed together in one huge swarm and were difficult to deal with.

Nie Fei and Xiao Jingcheng could only concentrate on driving.

Jiang Ran still couldn’t move a muscle. He sat in the back seat beside Lin Buyu, watching as she leaned half her body out of the window, her long hair streaming toward him in the wind.

His eyes followed that flowing hair, and a strange impulse suddenly arose in the depths of his heart.

He wanted to touch her hair.

She was just as he had suspected—a hidden expert.

From the very first time he saw her, when she had fallen to the ground and pleaded with him pitifully for mercy, he had known that she was acting.

She was pretending to be weak.

Her purpose in pretending to be helpless was to enter Yulan Base.

Coincidentally, he had no attachment to Yulan Base either, so he had helped push things along and brought her inside.

He had even looked forward to watching her bring Yulan Base down.

Because he was lazy and didn’t want to deal with troublesome matters himself.

Minute by minute, the vehicle finally left the zombies far behind.

Nightfall was approaching.

In order to escape the horde, they had long since deviated far from their original route, and the vehicle was almost out of fuel.

Fortunately, they had already escaped the city and arrived at an unknown small town.

Everyone got out of the vehicle one after another.

Xiao Jingcheng felt as though he had narrowly escaped death. He looked toward Lin Buyu, who was still sitting inside the vehicle, and said to Nie Fei, who had gotten out with him, “Thank goodness we had Lin Buyu. Otherwise, we’d all be dead.”

Nie Fei glanced back and saw Lin Buyu with her eyes closed. Assuming she was sleeping, he let out a long sigh.

“The stronger she is, the more it proves that her purpose for joining Yulan Base isn’t innocent.”

After all, how could someone that powerful willingly go to another base just to become someone else’s bedmate?

Xiao Jingcheng pushed up his black-rimmed glasses, a faint smile appearing on his handsome face.

“Yulan Base didn’t save our lives. Lin Buyu did.”

In the apocalypse, finding a base where one could live a stable life wasn’t easy.

But with their abilities, no matter which base they went to, they would become core members.

So they had nothing to fear.

Nie Fei immediately understood what Xiao Jingcheng meant.

If Lin Buyu wanted to take down the base, they could simply join her.

After all, they had long since grown sick of a place like Yulan Base—and its leader.

“You’re right. Lin Buyu saved our lives. A life-saving favor like this…” Nie Fei said, his expression serious. “If we’re going to repay it, we’d better be willing to risk our lives.”

“It’s just that I never expected that this delicate little flower would actually be terrifyingly strong. What do you think she was doing up there during those few minutes when she drew the zombies away?”

They had all suspected that Lin Buyu was definitely not some helpless little flower.

But they hadn’t expected her to be this powerful.

Her composure in the face of the zombies, along with her deadly accurate marksmanship, was enough to prove her strength.

And the feeling she gave them wasn’t that she had become this strong because she had awakened some ability after the apocalypse.

It was as if she had always been this strong.

Su Ya stood with her arms crossed, listening seriously to their analysis before finally delivering her conclusion.

“Only you men would think her purpose for entering Yulan Base is something so complicated.”

“Huh?”

The two men looked at her simultaneously.

Su Ya pursed her lips and gestured toward the two people inside the vehicle.

“I just think Lin Buyu’s real purpose is Brother Ran.”

The two men had witnessed Lin Buyu’s abilities, so naturally, they didn’t believe someone like her could genuinely be a lovesick fool.

They thought Su Ya’s idea was far too naive.

Nie Fei’s lips twitched.

“You really think Lin Buyu fell in love with our Brother Ran at first sight?”

Inside the vehicle, meanwhile, Lin Buyu—the very person the three of them were discussing—was pressed close to Jiang Ran, spouting cheesy pickup lines at him.

“Team Leader, see? I told you my life wasn’t some useless thing. Didn’t it come in handy at a critical moment?”

“I protected you from the zombies, didn’t I?”

“Are you touched?”
